Did you already have an audible account and then applied the "GOODSEARCH" code?
I Had an account as in I have an account with books already but am not subscribed.
Just copy/pasted goodsearch in the box and signed in clicked accept to the TOS and that was that.
Okay cool… so it's the fact that I have a SUBSCRIPTION which means the code doesn't work… how do I get rid of my subscription but keep the two free books?
@yojabbajabba: The books are locked with the account once purchased (free or otherwise). I've canceled and reactivated my account many, many times now.
on the middle top area will be an area that says Hi "name you gave amazon" hover your cursor above that and you'll see an account details link. Click that sign in if prompted.
Now your on the Account details page under the Account settings section will be a cancel my membership link. You can follow that through to cancel your account while keeping your books.
They will try to upsell you by giving you discounts, credit ect in exchange for staying a member don't take any of those though as the Cancel your account link will dissapear for a period of time (a few days I guess) so people can't just get free credit then use it and then cancel right after.

I'm more of a mystery thriller person rather than Sci-Fi and you've already got one of my faves in Ready Player One. I do highly recommend the Martian though definitely my top listen for the year, a movie is being made of it too. Oh if you're after a good long listen the The Passage is very good although I didn't think much of the sequel.

How does Audible DRM work? Are there programs that can remove it so you can play the files anywhere you like?
I would prefer raw Mp3 files (48kb/sec 22KHz Mono is fine for standard productions, though extravaganzas like Graphic Audio productions demand much higher music like bitrates).
I found this post a few years ago and have been successfully using it to remove the DRM ever since. There's a text file within the zip with instructions worked perfectly for me. Takes about 20 mins per book half. You could probably play around with the output settings to get what you want, I don't fool around with much there just happy to have a MP3 file that I can do whatever I want with :)

Awesome timing, thanks for this. I just finished my monthly trial, was about to cancel and saw they were offering 50% off discount (for 3 months) and almost clicked accept when I saw this post! As suggested I clicked through the cancel, then put this code in and bang, extra 2 months for free!
Also, did you guys know there is an audible.com.au which has a seperate site? I signed up initially (I believe it was just to the US one) and somehow got membership to both sites so had two free books for the first month. The same app too, you just need to change the site on the login screen of the app between audible.com and audible.com.au. Unfortunately the Australian one does not accept any promo codes or gift certificate yet, but you get the first month free.
