The Time Has Come - OzBargain 10 Commandments

Alright guys, time for some good discussion and contribution from any member
What do you think should be the top 10 commandments for OzBargain?

Should I get the ball rolling ?
In no particular order

  1. A true ozbargainer shall have a $9 dell printer
  2. A true ozbargainer must always keep buying eneloops
  3. A true ozbargainer must always share a great deal
  4. An ozbargainer shall carry ING paywave card with 5% cashback at all times
  5. An ozbargainer shall have atleast 1 $100 tigerair Voucher
  6. An ozbargainer may only shop on eBay on a Sunday
  7. Every ozbargainer must resent Dick Smith yet at the same time claim every great deal
  8. Every ozbargainer shall have a cash back account
  9. Every ozbargainer shall have a goodguys gift card at 20% off
  10. Ozbargainers must never buy a product or a service which is not on special
  11. Ozbargainers must claim every free sample, book, app or course that they can
  12. Ozbargainers shall try to pricematch anything, at anytime at any location in any circumstance

That's my 10 cents worth
What are yours?
Update:
Alright, as suggested by some we need a poll for the top commandment, please vote for it from the above points. If you guys reckon the top commandment is no where to be found in the above points, please suggest and I will update.
Also, I have added hyperlinks to some of the commandments :)

A true ozbargainer will have at least 20 fake email and facebook addresses so that free samples arrive in a perpetual stream through the letterbox. I have aroused the suspicion of my landlord who, when inspecting his property, commented on my surplus supply of incontinence pads and dog treats.

or one gmail account with . everywhere!

Or a domain with wildcard turned on…

    • They that have not the courage or foresight to be the Broden shalt shun the Broden loudly in the forums.

    • Buy first; then share, lest thou miss-est out on the bargain.

    • Feed the JV his daily negs (for without them he shall surely starve).

  • +2

-A true ozbargainer shall have a $9 dell printer

I think you should hyperlink each; I never knew about TGG 20% off so it would have helped me…

  • +11

Ozbargainer always refresh OZB website every 5 minutes

    • +1

so new PinchMe deals are not missed

  • Aren't those 20% off TGG gift cards expired now? If so, no ozbargainer would have one. Same with the Tigerair vouchers.

An Ozbargainer should always buy first and then ask questions later.

  • All Ozbargainer's must have tried to buy a WD HDD using an invalid code and then complained about being accused of attempted fraud and then still bought the drive using another code.

  • Never buy Online from Dick Smith no matter how good the deal seems…

  • +33

A true ozbargainer must threaten to contact the ACCC every time they don't get what they want

  • +24

A true ozber will neg one of jv's comments at least once

    • +16

      Once a day….

  • ha ha very much true

  • a true ozbargainer shall run out of daily negative votes just before one is desperately needed.

Thou shalt have at least 100 Udemy courses in their account pending completion, lol

    • +7

      with 0% completed!

    • +8

Not to mention 100+ Kindle eBooks under their Amazon account with 0% completed as well.

  • A true ozbargain we must get a rain check if coles / woolworths runs out of your special. When they ask how many you want, it must be 10+

    • +6

      rain check Connoisseur Ice Cream!

  • +2

    3) Never miss a free sample

    • +8

I am pretty sure I am sitting on 10 times per hour while I am at work.

    • Dont forget udemy courses

  • A true OzBargainer must berate every forum thread that goes something like this:

'Hey guys I want go oversees price veri xpensiv plz find gud deal 4 me thx'

  • +4

A true OzBarginer will buy anything that comes on special for $0.01 at gearbest.

  • +1

    think we need a poll!
what is the top commandment, then we get the top 10

    • start one

  • +1

Own an Amex credit card that is not issued by a bank

  • I feel embarrassed about asking about eneloops - what's so great about them?
I just buy new non-rechargeable batteries when they're on special (should I be banned?)

    • +8

Please delete your account, don't cry, get on the floor, roll, cry a lot

      • But seriously - how many non-rechargeable batteries do you have to go through before eneloops are worth it?

        • +1

The only time non rechargeables are justified is in applications where an alkaline battery will last years. Clocks, remote controls, weather stations, etc. Doesn't make much sense from a financial or environmental point of view to use NiMH cells there.

I have seen a couple of situations where a full 1.5v was required for a device to work. NiZn AA batteries provide 1.6v although both batteries and chargers must be bought online.

  • Happy to start a poll but guessing admins have to do it?

  • +9

    • A true ozbargainer shall have a work/life/OzBargain balance of 10/10/80

  • +4

Thou shalt add fuel costs to any bargain to get the final price

Thou shalt browse supermarket fridge near-use-by section and buy all extremely discounted items that are labeled "Best Before". These will be good for days or even weeks after the date. Many expensive "Use By" items such as mascarpone cheese can be safely frozen and used later.

    • +6

Commandments should be limited to one sentence.

    • +1

Vintage cheddars that are waxed improve if stored between 3-14 degrees for a minimum of 2 years past the chronologically mandated best buy' date - especially if the name river' features in the latter part of the name.

  • +2
    • Thou art must be a member of cash rewards and only shop when there's a sale on at one of the listed stores so you get even more off. https://www.cashrewards.com.au/.

e.g. Dan Murphys has 10% cash back at the moment, only buy stuff that's on special already for extra savings.

From personal experience when EBay had their 15% off sale and I used cash rewards to get an extra 2% from my $589 purchase. It took the 2% off from the total purchase price and not the after eBay discounts item by 15% price.

    • If thou decides to do what Tom did on eBay with BBQs, thou shall do it with a little more care and sneakiness so eBay/Paypal don't catch you.

    • Remember, 1 discount is never enough, a true OZBer goes for a price beat on an already discounted item with a competitor who will beat the price by 10% of the difference. That saving, no matter how small, will mean the difference between 2 minute noodles or 2 packets of 2 minute noodles!

    • OZBers must never use bold when posting on OZB. Using bold wastes precious bandwidth and reduces the lifetime of your monitor by filling out more pixels than is necessary. Let jv learn this lesson the hard way when his monitors die every 2 months.

    • $350 of ebay cashrewards during the 15% off sale didn't go through for me.
I ask cashrewards and they said wasn't eligible (while 5 other items in the same cart were successful) but applied the 2% as a gesture of goodwill (pending eBay investigation), though they based it off the 15% discounted price :(

  • +1

A true OzBargainer will have an account with at least 1 overseas mail forwarding service

  • +1

    Hahaha gold OP

  • True OZB will not spend a cent if they don't need to buy stuff even if its on 90% discount.

  • +5

A true ozbargainer must try to stack as many codes and deals as possible. E.g. Woolies 15% off + 10% off + Amex deal

A true ozbargainer must help a fellow ozbsrgainer figure out how to get the most out of a deal. E.g. unity1 told us precise amounts and order of redeeming coupons especially in times of heightened excitement and panic.

  • Ozbargainers must use disparaging terms for businesses we loathe:
    Harvey Norman: Hardly Normal
    BankWest: WankBest

  • +5

An Ozbargainer shall not suffer an infidel uttering the holy name of bargain, when they know not whence the meaning of the word. And verily, when the infidel comes home from the Myer boxing day sales with a sheridan towel set, the Ozbargainer shall assail him with multiple blows from his Huawei G526, and shall press him, saying: "Why the f*** did you buy that?". Lo, there shall be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And the infidel shall know that thy assailant is an Ozbargainer when he lays down his vengeance upon him.

  • +1

Thou shall sell free legal, relationship, property and investment advice from the OzBargain forum..

  • -1

    I'm afraid I have a caveat for commandment 3:

3 . A true ozbargainer must always share a great deal except where sharing would ruin the greatness of the deal before the said ozbargainer had enjoyed the full benefit of the said deal

    There we are, fixed.

  • -4

Oz Bargainers MUST ALWAYS treat their fellow bargainers with respect & honour with no rude comments or derogrative statements ( even when the spelling is not correct ! )

  • Thou shall not steal a deal

  • +1

Cracking up on number six. Well done!

  • +1

TIL I'm not a real ozbargainer.

  • +2

And flashlights, lots and lots of LED flashlights…

  • +1

A true OzBargainer can never pass up a good headphone deal!

  • +7

A true Ozbargainer would have been contacted about excessive use of paywave cashback from ING Direct.

    • +1

      Has anyone had theirs cancelled?

  • +6

A true ozbargainer shall have tens of thousands of frequent flyer points without ever accumulating any through actual flight purchases.

  • +2

A true Ozbargainer must buy Air NZ tickets to LA/Sanfran at a price not greater than $900 with no hesitation when presented with the opportunity.

  • A true OzBargainer would have a Udemy account with an estimated value of at least $100,000 of courses that were once paid but went free.

  • +4

A true Ozbargainer will spend a significant amount of time googling for coupon codes when there's a coupon field present in online checkouts .

  • Thou shall put through orders even though you know there's a 99% chance of getting cancelled.

  • Always stack sales on top of each other

  • +1

A True Ozbargainer should always keep calm and press F5 every 5 seconds :)
