  • This is the grounded ones.
The high mountain cafe/restaurant blend series beans, not the regular ones, is also on special: 40% off.
Not bad coffee especially for the price.

    • +1

Why'd it get grounded? Stayed out too late after curfew?
      Oh you mean ground…

      • +1

Yes I mean this post is for ground coffee.

With the premium high attitude 100% arabica cafe/restaurant blend whole beans, you just need abit higher pressure to squeeze the oil out. Turns out not a bad coffee at this discounted price.

    Not a bargain at all.
Coffee goes stale within minutes of being ground.
You can get good quality whole beans in deals like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/166290 where it's $30/kg, and has not been sitting in a hot warehouse for a year before you receive them.

    • So what - some people dont want to grind coffee beans.

Might not suit latte sipping SNOBS, it's their choice.

      Your negative vote is irrelevant

      • +3

I appreciate both opinions as it allows me to make a more informed choice.
Snobs or not, I suspect the freshly ground beans taste better.
A friend if mine recently spent $1400 on a fancy coffee machine. The "free packet" of beans was beautiful. He then put some cheap coffee in there - and while it was reasonably nice, it was nowhere near as nice. It wasn't as noticeable as McCafe to regular McDonalds, but it was fairly obvious…

      • Sure, but a poor quality product at a low price is not a bargain. A high quality product at a low price IS a bargain, and this is not one.

Do you p[refer stale bread on your sandwiches because it's cheap? I don't - I guess that makes me a snob.

        • This is no different to the Android/iPhone debates… Step aside for a while and consider - if you were going to buy this anyway (for whatever reasons), is it a bargain?

        • @ryang:
I think it's more along the lines of the Samsung Galaxy S (or other premium phone) vs the cheap Chinese android phones, but yeah, I get your point.

        • -6

Agreed you can not think this is a bargain. But I dont think $30 a KG is either, so given your reasoning I decided to play the same game and vote down Mannabeans offer. Fair enough

        • +5

@RockyRaccoon: Please bear in mind that $30 per kg for 2kgs also incorporates the $13 express shipping service and are for award winning fresh roasted specialty grade coffees.

I understand that you are offended by your interaction with other Ozbargain users regarding ground supermarket coffee but please don't take it out on us!

        • +2

Bargain has nothing to do with Quality. If you can find a better price for the same item, your Neg is valid, otherwise NO

        • @mannabeans: Fair enough

          apologies

          negative vote removed.

        • +1

@RockyRaccoon: No worries, thanks Rocky appreciated. There's a Free sample option on our site for anyone that wants to test the differences between fresh roasted against supermarket bought etc.

Best way to make a decision is try them against each other and see what works best for the individual.

Coffee does not go stale within minutes of being ground. A few minutes of research, on this internet that you're connected to, would tell you a lot more about the topic. In any event, these packs are vacuum sealed, so they're as fresh when you open them as they are when they're packed. Once opened, you should refrigerate and seal what remains, to maintain freshness as long as possible. Vittoria is one of the highest quality consumer grade coffees there is, anyone will be more than happy with this.

That's like saying McDonalds is one of the best consumer-grade restaurants, because it's cheap and lots of people say it tastes nice. No, it's crap, and just because someone doesn't know any better doesn't change this.

A few minutes of research, on this internet that you're connected to, would tell you a lot more about the topic.

        OK I'll do some research:

Oh yeah! I'll just look up my references from SITHFAB012B but nah I wouldn't know.

Are you going to neg deals on icecream or olive oil from supermarkets now because they don't meet your standards?

If people like the product and it's being offered at a low price (compared to the normal price) then it is a deal and you not liking the product doesn't make it not a deal.

        • +6

@em: Thats what I have been saying.

But some people think they can tell others whats right for them and what's not.

Heaven help us if someone posts a deal for 50% off instant coffee!!

          And what about Pod Coffee

          Oh and BTW

I dont like Vittoria coffee Ground or Beans

So I didnt vote on this deal

      • bazzaa - if i was to use coffee that you ground when posting this comment - it would be awful, no matter how good your beans where. Do yourself a favour and do some experiments. Grind some beans and wait a 30mins and see how it smells compared to freshly ground. The smell of the 30min old coffee will be significantly different. Leave it for a few hours and it will smell rancid. You could even try vacuum sealing it and freeze it if you like. I have not tried this but I would give this 24hours and the flavour would be diminished.

      • +2

Never refrigerate coffee beans or grinds.
You seal it in an air-tight container and store in a cool (but not cold) and dark area, back of the pantry is ideal.

I bought a 1kg 100% Arabica espresso whole beans yesterday at Aldi for $12.90. Haven't tried it yet but here's hoping

    • +1

I have been using the aldi dark roast beans for a while. They are a great price and make a decent coffee. Most times i had had a coffee from a cafe i have prefered what we have made at home.

  • +1

Vittoria has to be some of the worst beans I have tried. The last bag I bought I ended up throwing in the compost. I have a friend who swears by the $13\kg stuff at Aldi and he makes a reasonable cup of coffee - a bit bland for my tastes but good enough none the less.

Personally I get it from mycuppa at $23kg + postage. Bought many kilos of manna beans and although they are good, it's hit and miss if I would like the taste of the single origin that was provided at the ozbargain price.

  • I would have to agree that the ground beans are not as fresh. Does not mean that you cant get a good cup of coffee out of them, but you certainly never know what you are getting.

I have been buying the Lavazza, 500g, ground and vacuum packed (that comes inside a tin) for the last 6 months.

Picked them up at coles for $10, then $8 and finally $6. Aldi did the same.

Some packets make coffee so good that you wonder why people use pods or instant. At the moment my coffee tastes pretty bad. And each cup from the most recent packet of coffee I have opened is crap.

Time to invest in a decent grinder and start buying beans.

  • I'm so happy my machine can ground it's own beans just before serving the cup..freshness! Ground to me isn't always the best and for that amount I could imagine it going stale quite quick unless you chug coffee or have a family that consume lots of coffee.

  • Unfortunately this isn't a good deal at all.
Vittoria is horrible and often you can find 1KG vittoria for half price. Sometimes they do 2 x 1KG for $30.

  • +1

Anyone who pays $40 for 1kg of grround Vittoria coffee needs their head checked. It's up there with dodgy mattress RRPs and scanpan. Coffee snobbishness aside, if you want something comparable (better) than Vittoria, get Harris Gold which is generally on special for $17-18/kg. Realistic price for an above avg coffee.

Otherwise you can get something like 5 senses or whatever's your pleasure from the more 'upmarket' (fresher) brands

    • I usually buy from IGA in WA Five Senses, Rubra or Yahava at around $10.50 / 250gm bags which works out to be $42/ kg. Pretty steep but much cheaper than buying coffee at the cafes. Bannister Downs milk at $2 / L goes very well with this. If anyone has cheaper but comparable alternatives to the above please let me know.

      • cheaper coffee, get some from Manna Beans. they post deals on here all the time.

  • -1

Manna Beans is fantastic, although most of you probably fill your cups with milk in which case I'd challenge any of you to pick the difference anyway. Black or a splash of milk, anything else you may as well buy this Vittoria instead.

    • +1

If you can't taste the difference then maybe your palette is not as developed as you think…

      • -2

Ah yes, the ever knowing Latte drinker brigade, who've killed off any chance any of us getting a 'real' cappuccino that isn't just espresso + milk all the way to the top (no foam) and choc on top.

99% of coffee shops serve long blacks, then everything else is the same. Dull, cups of milk with a hint of coffee. Anyone who really wants to truly appreciate everything about coffee drinks it black. The end.

  • You could also get 2 kg of Vittoria coffee not grounded in Wetherill Park Sydney NSW for $35

    • where… i dont mind oro
