Just received my Phone bill from Vodafone re this contract

First month was all cool it was $25 for half price red 50 plan and $20 pocket wifi = $45
Second month was $116 ???
I removed my pocket wifi and added 4GB for $30 as pocked wifi is now useless…
Should only be= $25 + $30 = $55 yea ~
I get charged $20 for going over 2GB before I added the 4gb extra. okkkkkk I guess…(but have more than 2gb unused.. whatever)
But I get charged $50 for 50 plan apparently… instead of the half price promotion…

Why I ask? They said because I removed the pocket wifi….
This special only applies when you had the pocked wifi service… When you removed it we started charging you the full $50 + your month and a half deposit which will be pro-rata …
I explained that the deal never said anything about pocket wifi's or additional services !! Only that I needed a current account, and to have a current account I needed the pocket wifi… (now my special applies to my current account I dont need the pocket wifi yea)
I sent them the Vodafone flyer in the link above… and stressed now where does it say pocket wifi or contracts or servies needed for this promotion to be current. Just that I needed an "Account" and to get an "account" I asked northsydney whats the cheapest and they said $20 pocket wifi plan (Vodafone call centre reviewed it and said that the flyer is not
valid…. its not from Vodafone website and therefore could be photoshoped and that they cant do anything being from ozbargains …

Any help pleaseee….??

Now for my rant if your interested:
I am fuming and hating that I went back to Vodafone like a spastic… I was with them for 8 years but stopped because of the 'vodafail' 2010-12 dilemma… Went to Telstra was happy.. Simple… Easy.. Understandable… No BS… but little pricier.. so me thinking maby Vodafone is all right now with the fast 4G, less customers meaning less traffic, better deals and 300 min international calls + unlimited… How can I resist ?! Little did I know.. Once a dodgy Vodafone always a dodgy Vodafone… Very rude shock now… anyway's… enough of this dribble. I am currently waiting for a vodafone Manager to call me in regards to this as I wont let them walk all over me… P.s me thinking of the $100 iphone 6 vodafone plan next month(because no Vodafone stock atm) how delusional was I…

  • Sorry but could you clarify the parts that are relevant? Break it down for the part where you used up extra data and whether you got the SIM only along with the WiFi stick

  • OKok.. sorry emotional tying = no sense at all…

    1. Saws ozbargin in regards to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/158268#comment-2201868 about $50 unlimited plans for half price…

    2. Went to vodafone northsydney to sign up… They and thread mention that I needed an active/ current account with vodafone and the cheapest plan available (to set up a Vodafone account)was the 2GB Pocket wifi plan for $20. SO I set up a prepaid wifi account for $20 add the $25 50plan for 6 months total came to $45… swiped/paid visa card… signed the month to month contract after 1 hour setting up credit ID checks etc etc

    3. after 1st month I pay the $45 bill and I remove the $20 poket wifi

    4. after 6 weeks add 4 gb for $30

    5. Bill comes in $116, I ring up Vodafone to help read me my bill as I confused at reading it.. I am charged extra 2GB (at $20) as i didnt add the 4GB before they were charged, even though I have more than 2GB unused, doesnt matter whatever my fault…
Im told i am charged full $50 for my plan which was meant to be half price for 6 months… and there is a "pro-rata" month and a half charge which is again in the full amount instead of the half price for the special …

    The issue is this…
Vodafone refuse to honour the 6 months half price special as you must have another device they are saying…. e.g My pocket wifi… and because I removed my pocket wifi They have charged me the full amount..

I am saying nowhere on the advertisment does it say you must have a pocket wifi's or additional services for special to be applied. At no point did they at North Sydney say I must have an active device attached for the specials to be applied…
Only that I needed an account… And to set up an account I just did the cheapest thing available.

Vodafone then tells me to email my advertisement that I saw. Later the flyer and ozbargain thread is sent via email, after 25 min hold and their review is done, I am told that its not from the Vodafone website and therefore could have been photo shopped.

  • Had the same issue with Vodafone 2 years ago. Blackberry + $49 plan = $29 monthly. Same scenario as you, they imply that you're making the promo up and asks for proof. WTF. Constant email and calls EVERY BILLING CYCLE. It will be resolved, but just too much hassle. I have then cancelled that plan. This year, I grabbed the Xperia Z with half monthly fee for first few months. Guess what? Same issue. Discount wasn't applied. I almost cancelled my plan. Didn't push thru because it will be PITA for sure. Can't believe they have not resolved these billing issues

  • Sorry buddy but I don't think you've got a case here.

I think it was pretty clear that the half price 6 months deal was for additional services. Granted it doesn't say that if you remove the 1st service, that the 2nd would not be half price anymore, but I think that is heavily implied. Basically Vodafone were giving existing customers the ability to add an additional service for half price - that is why you had to sign up for the pocket wifi, so you were an existing customer.

Unless you have a friend/relative that is willing to share the cost of 1 full price and 1 half price plan with you, you can't really take advantage of this deal.

In my case, my partner was already on a red plan, and was able to add me for six months at half price. Once the six months are up I will look somewhere else for a better deal.

In your case, the good news is that you aren't on a contract - so you are free to move to another plan/carrier. I doubt you are going to be able to get out of paying this bill though.
