what about the Olight I3S? It's a high quality single cell AAA torch heaps better than a single cell AAA Maglite

How many of these torches do you get for the US$15.99 ???

    • +1

It might be worth it if you get all five "funky colors". I might even gift one to you, JV. Would you say you're more of a mate, or a partner?

    • Web site states the following. Image just shows a sample of the 5 available colors in the one image.

      Package included:
      1x LED Keychain flashlight

So is the title a typo ?

        Should it read US$1.59 ???

          No.

Don't get me wrong, it is a saving and I am incline to believe the quality is top notch, but… I think every Ozbargainer has at least 5 to 10 SIPIK clones for 1/3rd to 1/5th of this price, and most likely at least one stronger and possibly better built torch as well (>500lm).
From practical point of view - this is way too small output for way too short time. For this occasional use I can use my mobile phone flashlight. For anything bigger the Sipik clone is better than this (comparing the light output).

    • +3

this is significantly smaller than a SIPIK clone tho…it serves a different purpose, as an "EDC" light.

also, not all phones have an LED flash to use as a flashlight. my last three phones all have xenon flash (which is better for photos, but can't be used as a flashlight).

This is 1/3 the size of a SIPIK and is intended as an actual EDC light that would happily hide amongst your keys any day of the week. Quality is indeed very high on Olight products.

  • Does anyone know when this code expires?

    • Bangood seems to have a whole lot of hidden codes for the name brand torches that don't go away. Usually if you enter the model code as a voucher it will take something off. Take Nitecore for example, "EA41" discounts the EA41 from $66US down to $49US

EDIT: Actually, that makes the EA41 the cheapest I could find from a quick look around

  • Be warned. I bought a waterproof torch from Banggood earlier this year and it looked like it was "pre-loved". The torch surface had minor scratches on it and the rubber ring that seals the battery compartment screw thing was snapped. I don't plan to use it underwater so no concerns with the rubber seal.

The torch is great for the $10 I paid but if people expect quality, you may not get what you expect.

$25 for a AAA torch is not a good deal.
    i.e http://www.banggood.com/TANK007-E08-CREE-XR-E-Q5-120LM-LED-F… $12.48, even claims more lumns

    • +4

Well, the Olight torch is made by a reputable brand and has been tested by several enthusiast sites. With the Chinese generics and knock-offs, the customer doesn't always know what they are getting and certainly the Lumens claimed and runtime are generally (sometimes highly) exaggerated.

For those who want a good quality torch at a lower than usual price then this is clearly a bargain.

      • Agreed. $15 for 80 real lumens in a torch that would last years, vs $3 for 250 Chinese lumens that will stop working after 6 months.

        This is a bargain.

  • Be nice if you could choose the colour..

    edit I'm an idiot

  • Great torch at a great price. Nice find OP. Would make a great stocking stuffer, and you wouldn't have to worry about it not working in 6 months time.

I also wonder if you could drive it a bit harder with a 10440 battery and boost the output…

    • I'm not sure the driver circuit will take it but if you are keen check out CPF to see if anyone has tried

    • pretty sure you can use 10440…i remember seeing people mention it.

(check for yourself tho…i wasn't interested in 10440, so wasn't paying particular attention to it)

  • just received mine…nice little torch. not the brightest torch around, but decent for the size, and definitely an upgrade from my old maglite solitaire for a small emergency light / EDC.

not sure how i feel about the mode cycling (L->H->moon, and L->H->moon->L->H->moon->blink).

in terms of moon, it's kinda nasty to have to cycle through high to get to moonlight mode (given a likely reason for using moonlight mode is to not disturb with light)…but i guess with twist on/off being the only control, there aren't many options. probably the only way around this is making it moon->L-H (which i personally would prefer, but would be a hassle if you use H mode a lot).

in terms of blink, i think having to cycle through all modes twice is a bit overkill. given you have to do the full cycles no matter what mode you're in, that's 7 twists (on/off) if it's off or in moon, 8 twists if it's in H, and 9 twists if it's in L! they could have just made it activate after moon mode if switching immediately (if not an immediate switch, cycle back to L as it does now). i just feel a bit stupid switching it on and off 7-8 times!

but yeah, aside from those two things, i like it!
