  • Are you using a DVI cable to connect the 2?

    • Unfortunately its not match my pc either my tv

  • I dont know what cable should I buy? As I have only that option show on photos

  • Ask for a DVI cable at any shop that sells TVs or computers.
Note that DVI won't give you audio. You need separate cables & connections for that.

    Ooooh, those are fun.

What you have on your computer is a DMS-59 port. They're popular with video cards that come with big-brand computers (or were a few years ago). I remember helping set up ~50 cubicles for a call centre with these…

They're supposed to split into two DVI cables.

Your TV has a DVI port. Looks like a dual-link DVI-I.

Go get a DMS-59 => DVI splitter cable, like this one. Then attach a normal DVI cable from the splitter to your TV. This will give you a single-link DVI-D, which will connect to your TV but maxes out at 1920x1200 res @ 60Hz - if your TV has a higher resolution than that then you might want to get a video card that supports dual-link DVI.

Some local DMS-59 sources, but they're a bit rare: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=DMS-59&spos=3

    • BINGO elusive. You've jogged my memory I have seen one of those before only once a very long time ago. ylangylang55, elusive is right.

But I just want to add that PERSONALLY I would simply put in another video card with standard connectors. My guess is the video card is very old anyway judging by the unpopular connector and the parallel port on the PC, so you might find buying a used PCI-EXPRESS (or crap this could still be AGP if the PC is THAT old) is probably just as cheap as buying a cable.

      • They're not quite that old. I'm pretty sure I've seen Ivy Bridge machines with them. They're just rare outside of business machines. They do tend to be lower spec GPUs though.

        • I see a lot in my job, but obviously you see more than I do. I've only ever seen one, but that graphics card CAME with a DVI splitter. In fact I'd be surprised if the graphics card in question didn't originally come with some sort of digital adapter as surely no-one has those DMS-59 cables lying around? They'd be fairly specialized and probably came with the splitter in the box?

Just looking at my cupboard now I can give you 20+ cables of DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA in various mini and micro flavours even but not a single DMS-59.

Anyway getting off-topic. Kudos to you for identifying the connector. I knew by looking at the pins it wasn't DVI and knew I'd seen it before but like I said you managed to jog my memory and the original poster can go get himself the right cable or a replacement video card.

        • Yep, we used to get our dell optiplex's factory fitted with them.

I have an old ass TV but that is so old it doesn't have HDMI. Get a new TV and card with HDMI out.

… or he could get an adaptor. Maybe a little cheaper than a new TV and display card.

Every time, ethereal. You really are useless.

    • There are two HDMI ports right above the DVI port, one of them used.

Thank so much Elusive. My one is now working well.

  • Also you won't get sound over DVI cable. Sound will come from PC, video from TV. If that is a HDMI socket on TV (or is it USB, fuzzy pic) get a new HDMI video card and long HDMI cable. MSY etc. usually have cheap ones, otherwise you will have to run audio cables as well.

  • can you take a photo to show rest of the ports, especially underneath the printer port? I think there is a VGA port that may have been blocked by a cover.
Also, can you advise brand and model of your PC?

    • yes, you are correct. The AVG was cover therefore I could not use that option. My old Dell optiplex 790 Intel core 2 duo 3.0 ghz and Win Vista.Hope that help

  • glad we can help
