    • Looking for a blue suit!

      • +1

        I'm blue dabadee dabadaa

Buying a suit online is always tough though, and I imagine the return process would involve sending it back at your own expense.

I bought some suit jackets from Myer which I'm still waiting on but at least we can return them in store

    • +7

Van Heusen (formerly The Mens Shop) are really good with returns/exchanges for whatever reason as long as you return the item in its original condition with tags still attached and unworn etc.

You fill in a returns request which they then approve. You call TOLL and arrange a pick up for your item for it to go back to them (you don't pay for this) and if it's an exchange they'll get around to sending out your exchange item after they receive the returns.

I've only shopped with them once and unfortunately had to exchange a suit due to some issues but it was quick and painless - I only have praise for their customer service. :)

Here's their returns policy - http://www.vanheusen.com.au/returns-policy/ In my experience, there's no stuffing around if you have any issues.

I 2nd this comment. Bought a REG suit from Van Heusen during their $149 sale (they only had REG size left). Unfortunately its still large for me (average asian male) so i had to return it. Filled out the returns form, rang TOLL who picks it up for free and returns to the warehouse. Email confirmed received after 48 hrs and i think refund to my credit card about 2-3 days later. Any issues/queries was resolved easily via phone or email. so 10/10 for their customer service.

Still sticking to buying suits in-store though. too much of a hassle buying online unless i've actually tried on the particular suit size before.

      • +2

Yeah for anyone else reading this - Van Heusen is legit, they are really great with their returns process. They understand the hassle of buying a suit online.

    • +3

I'd check up on that, The Men's Shop (which I'm sure is/was somehow affiliated with this website) used to accept free returns (at their expense).

So you could buy your size, a size up and a size down and check which fit the best, then you fill out an online form and a courier comes to pick up the two you didn't want.

    • What kind of fruity advice is that?!

    • -2

I agree with Munki, to me a black suit is only good for funerals or black tie events. Navy, grey, hell, even brown suits can look good in the right settings. Expand your wardrobe!

      • -1

Agreed. Black is for funerals or secret agents

        • +3

          Or funerals of secret agents!

Lol @ the downvoters by the way. We're gonna see a bunch of ozbargainers parading in black suits around…

        • Go watch 'Man from Nowhere'. Korean secret agent in a black suit.. hiding as a pawn dealer. It's Korea's answer to the Professional.

        • -1

          @Munki:

The downvotes are because this isn't r/malefashionadvice, it's ozbargain and you offered no insight to the actual quality of the product, manufacturer, or if it's a good deal or not.

You just wanted to tell people that they don't have fashion sense if they wear a black suit to anything but a funeral, which anyone who would have a shred of a clue about current trends would know A) you're full of BS, and B) you can use a black suit top with jeans and a shirt, or black slacks with a different coloured suit top.

Also - every man should have a black suit.

@ankor: I loved that movie. Have had a major man-crush on Won Bin for ages, and this movie cemented that.

        • @c0balt: I'm sorry but that's a load of tripe, and it highlights your lack of knowledge in menswear. Every man should own a navy and/or charcoal suit. Why? Because those two colours are far more versatile than black.

Trend it may be, but most guys dress horribly and the lowest common denominator isn't the ideal to which one should aspire.

          B) you can use a black suit top with jeans and a shirt, or black slacks with a different coloured suit top.

Any colour that isn't black would would be much better for this purpose. Black slacks with a non black jacket is a horrid look, as is jeans with such a formal and heavily padded (and black!) coat. Just because everyone does it with their square-toed Julius Marlow loafers, faded jeans and tails-out business shirt doesn't mean it's particularly stylish.

"You'll dress only in attire specially sanctioned by MiB special services. You'll conform to the identity we give you, eat where we tell you, live where we tell you. From now on you'll have no identifying marks of any kind. You'll not stand out in any way. Your entire image is crafted to leave no lasting memory with anyone you encounter. You're a rumor, recognizable only as deja vu and dismissed just as quickly. You don't exist; you were never even born. Anonymity is your name. Silence your native tongue. You're no longer part of the System. You're above the System. Over it. Beyond it. We're "them." We're "they." We are the Men in Black."

    • +4

You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look good.

  • +3

i don't know guys. I tried this on in Myers before I bought like a few months ago.

really wasn't very slim at all. so just keep that in mind

    • Maybe you're not as slim as you think you are

    • +1

Yeah. I'm looking at the sizes. My current suit jacket is Chest 96 Waist 83… but this "slim" suit is Chest 96 Waist 93. That's a whole 10cm extra in the waist!!!! Then the trouser waist is 8cm less than the jacket waist. So whoever fits this 'slim' suit this would need a bit of a beer gut.

Whilst this is a good deal and the return process is straightforward, I don't want the hassle of messing around with a poorly fitting suit.

      • Ah so it's not just me. I did think the pant size corresponded with the jacket size very well.

  • -5

So you can get a suit in any colour as long as it's black?. A bit contradictory.

    • +9

      woooshhhh

  • +1

Doesn't beat the $35 Wool Trousers that i got from Avenue Clothing through eBay (still on sale on eBay for the $35 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BNWT-Mens-Pure-Wool-Suit-Business…) plus the SABA wool blazer jackets that i got from SABA online a while ago for $5 each during the clothing from $5 sale (ticketed on the jackets at $499). Complete wool suit for $40. Now there's stellar deals once in a blue moon. Not meaning to boast or anything!.

    • did you the post the $5 blazer deal?

      • Not sure i can't remember. It was part of the sale from $5 from SABA and only lasted a short time.

  • +1

Wool blazer jacket in black colour for $104.30 delivered (down from the stated $499 and only available in 4 sizes though) http://www.saba.com.au/zero-suit-jacket-9321143633384.html plus Wool trouser for $35 delivered http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BNWT-Mens-Pure-Wool-Suit-Business… = $139.30 for trouser and jacket. Even that's not a bad deal.

It's just an example of good deals you can get cheaper than $199.

    • +3

Until you get stuff that are in slightly different shades of black then it becomes more expensive.

  • The deal ends midnight Tuesday.

  • How much for an additional pair of pants?

  • Hi guys, Im a suit n00b and need some advice. I need around the size 100 but need the pants in the size below. What can I do? Just go with the 100 and hope they're not too big?

    • drop 8

  • Has anyone received theirs yet?
