I really hate preordering, but damn that is tempting…
Have had a terrible time preordering from DSE, I have still not received Forza Horizon 2. I have been into the store three times now to pick it up. It has been nearly two weeks now and they have given me poor communication and a minor reduction in price to compensate. I would rather spend extra next time and receive the game on release date like a normal preorder.
Maybe see if another local store has any stock that you can either co pick up from or get it sent to your store
I've heard similar stories. I've never had major issues with Dick Smith. When I pre-order at the Top Ryde store every time I have to bring in the catalogue with the pre-order price on it or they try to charge me full price. At the Macquarie store when I pre-ordered Shadow of Mordor the manager actually yelled at the guy who did the original pre-order because he forgot to put the pre-order price on it.
Every delivery I've pre-ordered from them has arrived on the morning of the release day (shipped the day before release). I think delivery is the best option for pre-order with them but only if you're near metro area.
In your case, I'd definitely order from another store. It seems to vary greatly from store to store.
FYI: Ebgames will most likely price-match DSE - you'll have to prove this promotion, but I recently got them to match Target's $59 / controller and there was no issue there.
EB Games wouldnt even price match their own 'in stock' preowned $14 game, to the new price of a new one $9.95 which was sold out
Note the Sony 700b is the older model, the current model is the 800b. The difference is there is no 3D on the 700b.

Also I just saw the 800B for $998 at JB in their recent sale, so not worth mentioning a higher priced TV, which is also an older model. (It's still $1098 online, but $998 instore)

Ehh.. Seems like overkill realistically. You still have to place the drill in a dock so why not just use a physical connection?? Less power loss, faster charging.
As for the controllers, I use Eneloops in all of mine and they last a damned long time. MS have also made it much easier to replace the batteries in the XB1 controllers - my batteries used to get stuck in the 360.. :(
I was more hoping for the device to be charging while playing using qi somehow. Seems there still needs to be contact with the surface though for it to work.

I use eneloops too. Playing Destiny heroic daily last night soloing a boss I had one last sniper shot to kill him…xbox lost connection to my controller…arghh!
