Was looking for a good quality trimmer to clean the face and do the occasional side trims while taking a haircut and came across this product at the Shaver Shop for $149:

http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/beard-trimmers/bea…

Apparently its "exclusive". One of the problems we face is that retailers can "rip off" Australian consumers by making deals with manufacturers and bypassing the natural market forces of supply and demand.

Luckily some overseas retailers are able to post these products to us at half the price. Pity the AUD has been falling.

This trimmer uses Lithium Ion
Its stainless steel so hair doesn't stick to it
International voltage range of input is 100 -240V. Just need a powerpoint adapter.
Made in USA

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

Why the boring and basically irrelevant rant? Much better to just stick to describing the deal, and leave these kinds of comments for the forums.

Furthermore, why is this a "deal" anyway?

USD $55.63 (& FREE Shipping) is the NORMAL PRICE on Amazon.

The fact that you found a price in the USA for something that is technically illegal (electrical non-compliance due to lack of Australian Electrical Safety and EMC compliance) is not surprising.

There are literally billions of instances of products where overseas prices are cheaper. The entire country of China sells things cheaper than they can be purchased locally here in Australia.

Finding something "cheaper" (at a lower price) than it can be purchased elsewhere (at a higher price) doesn't really qualify it as being a "deal".

      Now that's a rant. ;]

I'm putting $10 that llama got the cold shoulder this morning and had to vent his frustration somewhere. Ozbargain was his chosen place.

Probably because he was too hirsuit.

      Ummm yes it does…
It is a deal when compared to any price you can find it in Australia for…
If we went by your theory, then all "deals" we get from overseas shouldn't be put on ozbargain like being able to buy kindles at a much cheaper price in japan… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92071 and there are many more examples…

    Nice return rant llama!

I bought this exact shaver from US in June from the Shaver Outlet for $84.86 AUD when eBay had their 20% sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wahl-Stainless-Steel-Lithium-Ion-18-…?

At that time the Shaver Shop price was $200 and $160 on sale. Ridiculous! http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/beard-trimmers/gro… Also, NO Amazon seller would post to Australia, so this is indeed a bargain.

As Ryder said it is 100 -240V, the previous lithium ion model wasn't 240V. The battery lasts ages in between charges, you will never worry about unfinished jobs if it is fully charged. If you need to you can do a 3 min quick charge and get something like 15-20 shaving, good enough for any gorilla. It is powerful, the heads are sharp and the heads and combs are easily interchangeable. The stainless steel construction is excellent quality. I used this without drama for some light hair cutting, but for that I'd stick to a full size unit. I cannot fault it, but don't forget you will need a wall adaptor for charging.

    @ilikeit

Thanks for your helpful comments mate.

Will this do my bush out the back? Is there a 2-stroke model?

    • +2

Be careful when whipper snipping around the power pole!

    • It should work effectively with the bush out front

  • Just bought this last week for $149! Very good trimmer though, best battery life I've experiened, and stops charging automatically for those who like to leave it plugged in overnight.

  • Edited: never mind, has been answered. need it for hair cutting.

  • Cheers… I'm in need of a quality trimmer after having killed several cheapo Aldi and Remington units over the years!
Also I notice that the picture on "ShaverShops" product page shows a US style charger / power supply… So they are probably parallel importing it anyway.
