NBL.tv Subscription $40- $50, Normally $99

140

Hi all,

Firstly NBL.TV is the live streaming service for the National Basketball League season, which will start on the 10th October.

It will give you live access to virtually all games during the 2014/2015 season, with the exception of those games broadcasted live on Free To Air TV.

Below is the official broadcast schedule.

http://www.nbl.com.au/BroadcastSchedule

NBL.TV is normally $99 for a season's subscription, although there is an Earlybird deal for $89 right now.

https://secure.nbl.tv/buy

However, if you purchase the subscription through the Perth Wildcats Merchandise Website, it is significantly cheaper. Please note that this deal is available to the general public, you do not need to be a Perth Wildcats member.

There are 2 options.

Option A)

Purchase the NBL.TV without buying merchandise, its straight up $50.

https://shopdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Product&Cat…

Option B)

Purchase the NBL.TV with buying merchandise, its $40 for the subscription only (plus the price of the merchandise).

https://shopdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Product&Cat…

Please note that you'll have to pay for shipping of the merchandise item on top unles you choose to pick up from their office in Floreat (Perth).

If you wish to save a bit more money…

You could purchase a $7.50 Christmas Sock with the discounted subscription….then choose the Pick Up option for free.

https://shopdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Product&Cat…

Then even if you elect to never pick up the Christmas Sock…You still only pay $47.50 which is better than Option A).

How I understand this works is, you make the purchase, and someone from the Wildcats office will contact you (either via a phone call or email) to give you the NBL.TV activation code which you can use to register your new NBL.TV account.

This is my third year as a subscriber to NBL.TV and this is the cheapest deal so far available to non-members.

Hope this can be useful for any Australian basketball supporters / followers wishing to see this season's games.

This pre-season has seem a big influx of quality players (including NBA players / draftees) into the NBL and promises to be one of the most exciting seasons as far as talent is concerned.

Cheers

so, you pay subscription to watch pure Bball games?!

    • +1

Not sure what you mean by Pure….but yes you stream basketball games from the NBL with this service.

  • +1

Can you only watch the Wildcats games, though?

"Watch all the action live with an NBL.TV subscription for the 2014/15 Perth Wildcats season."

    • Please see the broadcast schedule for this service.

      http://www.nbl.com.au/BroadcastSchedule

You get almost every game live.

    • They're just promoting it to their fans, hence "for the Perth Wildcats season". The NLB.TV pass will give access to all NBL games for the season, not just Wildcats matches.

I'm not sure you understood what I meant, but thanks for the post nonetheless.

    • You get to watch almost all games from every team in the league….not just the Perth Wildcats.

  • +1

It's going to charge me $12.00 postage? For a code?

    • Just choose pick up option.

The Wildcats staff will contact you to give you your activation code to register with NBL.TV.

There should be no postage cost to this.

  • Thanks for the post! Just cancelled my existing subscription which was due to renew next week (at full rate!) and got a new sub for half price. Huzzah!

  • Sorry guys…I also forgot….the NBL.TV subscription also allows you to watch any game in the season that you may have missed. So have the whole season to watch every single game.

Hahahaha. Is this a joke? Who watches NBL…

  • +1

As much as I love watching basketball, the level of play for some of the games in the NBL are abysmal! Tough to watch even on FTA but I do really hope their standards will go up which would be nice for Australian basketball.

Oh and if anyone is offended I'm sorry. I know I am not better than these players but relatively they're not too great compared to other basketball I've watched (NBA, Spanish league, Turkish, among others)

  • +2

The standard of basketball in the NBL is not worth paying to watch.

    • My thoughts exactly.

much the same as A league for football.

Guys I take your point regarding the NBL level of play.

Yes…its not the NBA, we don't have Lebron or Kevin Durant here.

    But the talent is improving.

On the back of the success of James Ennis' season with the Perth Wildcats, several more quality players have entered the league.

Ennis was drafted in the second round in last year's NBA Draft, he was sent to the NBL to develop his game and has now scored a contract with Miami Heat.

Perth Wildcats now have DeAndre Daniels who is from the Connecticut Huskies (NCAA Champions) and drafted by Toronto, again, sent to the NBL to develop his game.

Same deal with Melbourne, who have got Jordan McRae…another second round draft pick for Philadelphia.

Cairns have Scottie Wilbekin…..who played for the Final Four team Florida Gators.

NBA player Josh Childress is also playing for the Sydney Kings.

There are also Australian players back from playing in Europe.

The talent in the league has improved significantly this year.

I don't imagine to sell this to the NBA fans. I love basketball foremost and want to support the local game as much as I love the NBA.

It begins with getting more people keeping in touch with the NBL and hopefully this will equate to bums on seats and even memberships to all the teams.

    • I totally agree
The NBL style of game is different - more Euro than NBA
If you watch a lot of NBA (I do) then you may not appreciate the NBL
However it is of high quality and likely improving further as basketball worldwide is regaining popularity - ts notes above
With NBA league pass I won't stretch to buying this mostly die to time constraints
It's a good price if I had time to watch
Will just record the fta games
      +1 from me

      • I enjoy the euro/fiba style game where strong fundamentals are used in the game (I enjoy both nba and euro leagues) rather than flashy 1 man shows in the nba. I guess I'll give nbl another chance on fta but at this point I feel it's unjustified for me to pay.

Don't get me wrong though I always hope that Australian basketball will rise to a very high level some day. It's good signs that there are players like Joe Ingles and Patty Mills and Matt Dellavedova playing the bigger leagues which may raise interest towards basketball.

    • I'm not a fan of basketball, but we used to go every 2nd week (my father would drag me along) when the Bullets played at Boondall in the 80's. It was a decent night out, and it was extremely popular back then. We never went again after they moved away from Boondall. It feels like it was a lifetime ago when you compare it to the current state of basketball in Brisbane.

  • If you guys want your activation codes quickly…simply forward your receipt to the email address listed in the receipt.

Within 10 mins I got my activation code.

Hope you all enjoy the season.

  • When it says live streaming does it mean you have to watch it live while the game is happening? Or can you watch it like a day after the game has finished?

I can barely fit in 2 NBA games a night after work most of the time on condensed so there needs to be a VOD option for this.

    • if you read the OPs comment you would see he has stated this is an option.

    • Yes…..all games are archived for the season.

So if you miss one you can go back and watch it any time.

  • NBL ahahhahah

  • For a while there I thought the NBL went the way of basketball cards.

  • roku support?
