As title. I just bought one myself. If you have access to 5% off Woolworth Giftcard then the price will reduced to $330.06

Doesn't work for appliances
true that. I tried myself just in case there have been oversight, no luck
We have a cumbersome vacuum upstairs with big bulky motorised head which is great for the carpet.. but needlessly annoying to use downstairs on tiles. I was going to get a lightweight corded upright vacuum to quickly and easily vacuum downstairs (mostly kitchen and dining where it is always dirty).
Anyway, would one of these be a suitable replacement for a corded vacuum? I'm skeptical about the power and longevity due to having a battery, but the convenience factor would be great.

The flaw however is it is terrible at picking up anything larger, like crumbs
Hmm
Yeah, I've spent some time now reading reviews, and they seem very divided between 1 star and 5 stars. I remain skeptical. The next version up seems a bit more powerful, but starting to get very expensive.
that's because it is a new model (dc59) as i said in an earlier post below.
the good thing about dyson vacss is that you can reuse most of their accessories. So the car kit cleaning accessories will fit this range of vacs afaik.
and you can get additional batteries to swap out for a slightly extended cleaning.
that said, they should partner with power-tool makers like bosch, ryobi, makita.. and incorporate a fully universal battery system. Imagine, defining a vac stick as a power-tool :D missus will always keep my batteries charged so that she can vacuum for hours :P
There will always be flaws to any machine, whether those flaws is acceptable to u is a different story, I heard dyson last for years so if divided money over time plus a huge discount then this seem to worth it.
from the reviews, the DC59 fixes a lot of 'problems' on this one. considering that the tvsn is selling the DC39 at $299. this DC44 is quite a good deal (lasts 5 mins more on a single charge) but IIRC is the heaviest among the 3 cordless stick vacs.
costco is selling the DC59 at 500-ish mark, so this price makes it extremely tempting.
So I brought the DC39 from GG yesterday with the 20% off for like $312 delivered.
I've been keeping an eye out on these for months and no deals have popped up.
Then all of sudden they are coming up after I buy it that's 2 deals today on these stick vacuums.
Just my luck ;-/
GG has a price guarantee.
yeah but is it apply for ebay store though, and where can u chase up to get money back. I almost bought 1 yesterday too, then hesitate, I found the DC 35 discounted at Master yesterday already, and this one just pop up today so happy because i got the wish giftcard for 5% as well so i bought it. Also Masters has 30 price guarantee as well, if anywhere else drop their price we can go instore and claim back the money from Masters.
Found it for $298 on master's site.
I paid $312 with delivery on GG's ebay site on Sunday (but i didn't have an option to pick up).
Just filled out this form - http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Price_Guaran…
Wonder what they will get back to me with.
Ummm wtf - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/111327494178?hlpht=true&ops=…
GG now have it for $288?!?!??!
Here is the verdict. After calling in between GG & Masters I ended up with this:
GG is refunding me my $312.85 for the purchase (which I have to return myself)
Masters price matched it and it totalled $259.20 for pick up.
(at the time Masters had it for $298 on their site but now its matching GG's price of $288).
True meaning ozbargainer here! :)
Just return it to a GG store unopened.
Still super expensive, Bosch's stick solutions are FAR better, they actually suck stuff up!!!!!!!! Sorry gotta lay the hate on Dyson, after forking out a lot of money, I was very disappointed with my stick vacuum, but luckily was able to return it at Harvey's and was recommended a Bosch, it actually picked up everything from our tiled floor!!!! Dyson was like a little hand vacuum.
nothing to hate about. you found what works for you. good on ya.
having gone through 5 different vacs in 4 years, dyson's dc29 finally works for me, and possibly a few others out there.
though i would say, buying a vac from harvey wasn't a good choice, that's probably why you got burnt with the high price tag.
i took one of the receipts posted on 3 years back and got it price beat and i got 1 year supply of ajax cleaning products on top of it plus 5 years warranty. dc29 for under $400. (and no, i did not end up dealing with the online peon)

A family member works there and I paid a lot less than this deal for the DC44, which after 2 days I swapped for the Bosch 6255N which was slightly more expensive.
I have a real vacuum cleaner also for the carpets as these things won't even get the hair (dog or human) off of carpet. This was purely for the tiled section in the house. With the Dyson, I would have to go over with the broom afterwards as it wouldn't pick up all the bits left on the floor after cooking. Bosch picks nearly everything save for very large bits.
Just letting people know there are better products out there for the price if you are not after the Dyson brand name. Heads up the dyson barely lasted 15 mins for me, while the bosch can go for almost an hour I would guess, I have used it multiple times before putting it back on it's charger. The Dyson has ran out of charge after I took the thing to do my car after doing the kitchen.
Just my opinion and experience.
no worries. thanks for sharing. good that you mentioned the model, i will take a look at that too.
I bought the Dc44 animal from masters in the last 10% deal. I'm really happy with it. We know bust it out and spritz the joint in 3 mins after dinner a few times a week. We don't have animals but the convenience factor is high. Out hard floor tool from our dc29 fits on it etc. It does seem to pickup all we need it to. It doesn't get that low down dust out if carpet so I don't think it fully replaces a plug in vac. Still have to get that out every fortnight. I'm not sure if its as great for the car as ppl think I find it lacks the suction. Think of it as a robot vac replacement. You just go over everything really quick to make it all look and feel nice. I found our robot vac to be more maintence with it getting stuck every 10 mins and having to run for hours on end and having to pick up everything that might get caught in it… Very happy I bought this unit. Never run the battery to low yet. It would be great for ppl with stairs.
yep. i am looking at this because i want to use it for the stairs. my roboking does the upper floors and i was thinking about getting one for downstairs because it's a pain picking up kids biscuit crumbs mess (either that or i get a dog).
the cheaper version is just as good…amazing battery life. My DC23 is now in the cupboard gathering dust…
$332 from good guys using 120% price match from Bing Lees $348, but you need to buy it first then mention the deal, otherwise they just beat it by $1.
Thanks for the tip! I nearly ordered one from Masters, lucky I waited and saw your post!
I did this and was able to get one for $331.80. They've since reduced the price to $398 so after price match it works out to be $338.
All good mate, glad to help. Personally I'm loving this vacuum, it's powerful and mobile, and just what I needed since I was doing some home reno and creating plenty of mess :)
10% off with coupon SUPER (i think) or from woolies docket
