Not sure if this is a good deal, just picked up a gigabit version of this but thought $10 w/free delivery for an 8port switch was OK value!
*please note: even though GIGABIT is in the 'description', I believe this is a 10/100.

Description says
"Gigabit Ethernet Data Transfer Rates of up to 200 Mbps (full duplex)"
Yep that's why 10/100 in title :)
I wouldn't bother. 10/100 is too slow these days.
Still good for a small cluster of rPi's?
No BNC?
The future is Token Ring
ARCNET over RS-485 FTW.
Get this!: 'Extremely popular in Japan with continuing popularity in America and Europe, ARCNET is now making inroads into China with some of the top China universities incorporating ARCNET into its projects.'

Actually tempted as I wouldn't mind a backup/additional switch.
Might be good for going to lan sessions too as it would save me having to disconnect my router.
How much is the proper gigabit version?
Free shipping is no longer appearing.
Tried to charge another $10 postage.
thanks looks like free shipping is gone… nolonger good deal!
gigabit was $34 odd ($35 delivered -5%)- prie matched @ Officeworks, no real bargain but couldn't get much cheaper off the shelf in Hobart…
You can pick this up from MSY for the same price. (Well that's what static ice told me)
Model listed [DES-1008A] is only 10/100, not gigabit. http://www.dlink.com.au/home-solutions/8-port-10-100mbps-des…
