its a dead console, 3ds has been barely, if 3 years at all on the market, you can count on the fingers of your two hands the games that are worthy playing. And its already being replaced with 3ds plus. DS and PSP ruled, 3ds and vita are absolute sadness, thrown money.
I wouldn't say dead, but keep in mind the Nnew 3DS before purchasing.

You will still be able to import from EU/UK. As with all region locked consoles they are the same region as us.
