    Awesome !!

I paid for this just the other day, but for free, how can you say no?

BUT, it just doesn't work on the phone.
I mean, it works of course but the thumbs on the screen just kills it.

But , but, I've ordered an usb-OTG cable to get my PS3 conroller hooked up on the Z1 just for this game.
    can't wait!

One of the best games from the 80's ?
    Gawd i'm old

Want Slap Fight too please :D

Can't you just use the Bluetooth to link the Dualshock to the phone? That's what I do with my android tablet.

      • That's the plan. You need a direct cable link 1st to register, then you can bluetooth. Hence the otg cable…just waiting out the typical weeks delivery for cheap os electronics…

    • slap fight just use mame and run the original arcade game

    • The OP's link is free until the (pointless) appstore app opens. $2.06 to buy. Your AU link: $2.06

Used coins to buy Plague Inc last week, only to find its a free game (on Google Play). Two copies on my phone. No difference.

      • Now the OP linked page says $1.90

This deal hasn't worked in any way for me today. What's going on.

        • Don't worry yourself!

The Gameboid emulator runs well on most Android phones. R-Type The Third Lightning is a tiny file too…

Or if there's a PS1 emulator for Android (I dunno) you can get R-Type Delta which is even better!

          Amiga emu for R-Type 1 and 2…

I have them all, but only GB version on my phone.

  • How to get Golf R for free?

If they are free the follow through will need work.

You probably weren't born yet :)

Got this as part of the Atari ST Power Pack. Could never finish it. Anyone remember Space Harrier? I would think this would work well on touch screens.

    • +1

Yes, the almost unplayable Space Harrier 1 & 2 from our friends at Sega. I had it on Amiga.

      Even better from Sega: Gunvalkyrie.
      But only on betamax xbox.

    Good but hard game.

My favorite was of the series was R-Type 3 for the Snes.

    • A mate had it on Megadrive/Genesis. I'd visit plenty, even if he wasn't home (but mum/dad was).
"Come-in…Not sure when he's home. You can wait in his room, if you want. Help yourself"

I guess you could say I was addicted LOL

Ahh, the 80's. It's a different world now. Story looks like milf, stalking, theft concerns, weird behaviour.

      • lol ain't that the truth!

        80s: sex, drugs & rock 'n roll

        Today: noobs, boobs & terror

  • If you were here right now I'd do the special hand shake just to reward you for front page

    • The freemason/masonic handshake, or….

    • Terrible game, just fired it up, nothing like the original Contra games… Uninstalling.

  • This R-Type isn't that good, same great game play but it lags. Considering the original hardware that played the game my phone is a super computer by comparison, so no excuse for any lag.

Problem using touch controls when enemies come from both directions and your hand covers the rear.

Finally why does a game require so many of the phones features to run?

  • Amazon actually gave me a dollar credit for downloading this!

  • +2

One thing I may never understand is why a game that used to fit on a fraction of a 320kb floppy is 20mb

  • -2

R-Type is abandonware on many platforms (Amiga, SNES, GB etc).
    So it's already free.

    Maybe this one's prettier?
