  • I was starting to think they would never have thus prove again.

I've read that comment about 10 times and I still can't make sense of it.
"I was starting to think they would never have thus prove again."

Looks a little like spam to me.

        "never have this price again"?

looks like samd is right! you speak chlodenish!

Do we need American US visit visa to Honalulu?

    • +6

Hawaii is part of the USA. The Visa requirements are no different to that of the mainland.

    • Yes need a visa for USA.

      • +10

        do they take mastercard?

      • +10

Best use American Express, I hear they process your application faster. ;)

        • free travel insurance too

        • +6

i think some people didn't get the pun lol.

      • +1

No you don't. You can get a visa waiver as an Australian.

      • and take your shoes off

    • +1

You need to get a visa waiver which is done online
      http://canberra.usembassy.gov/esta_scam.html

I used this link because im having trouble accessing the actual ESTA link. But that will direct you to where you need to go. You'll need to make an application and pay a small fee but it will be valid for 2 years (its almost instantaneous .. but best to do at least 24 hours prior to flying)

  • +4

That's a really good deal but it's so hard to plan so far in advance :(

    • The the Nike saying goes "Just do it"!

    • +3

…..It's 5 months away. Hardly "so far in advance".

      • +2

Not sure what else in life you'd be "forced" to plan 5 months in advance besides trying to get cheap airfares. Pretty far in advance for general life context if you ask me.

        • I'd have to plan that far ahead just to get leave.

  • -8

I would be weary booking a flight 6months ahead with jetstar with qantas bleeding billions of dollars.

    • +20

If simply booking it makes you weary, perhaps you aren't built for long haul flights!

    • +4

Yes, it would make anybody tired.

    • +2

Risk is not so much losing money. It'll take all of Qantas to go bankrupt before you don't get a refund.

But there's a fair risk that the flights may be cancelled with a refund and you'd be stuck with all the other hotel costs.

    • +2

Todays stupid comment of the day.

    • Too tired to book or too wary?

  • Once you add the additional costs how much cheaper does it become vs the $1200 return from Hawaian airlines with two 30kg bags + food and drinks etc?

    • +8

Who cares, it's still cheaper lol

    • No,

If you just book the cheap fare and then checkout to the next page you can select your baggage

you can add 20kg for about $30 and 40kg for about $70

i thought there is no way you have to pay extra $299 to get baggage..

      its a bit sneaky

so for my Wife/Me infant it will be $1699 return with 80kg of luggage

      pretty decent

      • +1

80kg of luggage? That should just cover it I would think.

      • 80KG?! Two bodybuilders, taking their weights.

Wife, myself, infant… 3 week trip, Paris & Ireland. The 25Kg suitcase was a ball'n'chain. She had 10kg infant on her chest, 5kg daypack on her back. I had 25kg suitcase (3 people's clothes for winter, formula for 3 weeks, xmas gifts), 5kg backpack (laptop & scanner) and 5kg nappybag. Even that was goofy.

A one destination holiday is easier, but needs even-less luggage. Splitting the seams, a large suitcase will weigh 30-35KG Max. Make transfers hard for no reason, tempers flare, relaxation over.

  • yes the esta visa is required. 20 bucks from memory

    • +2

      I think $14?

  • +2

Just did dummy booking for 2 pax inc. add on package & luggage $1600 in toto on new 787 for March, absolute bargain.

  • +6

tip is to add luggage if you can for the ride home only
go over there and buy new luggage, clothes etc

just hand carry a few items!

    • +1

      Free holiday:

      1. Order some heavily Australia-taxed tech items online
      2. Send to American friends house
      3. Fly to US cheap, holiday
      4. Take items home
      5. Sell on ebay
      6. Profit

Oculus Rift DK2 will probably still be selling for double it's US price on ebay here by March…

    Hawaii's overrated. Just sayin'.

    • +5

You're not doing it right then

    • Perhaps it doesn't appeal to everyone, but I've been there 6 times and would go back in a heartbeat.

    • +16

he's right. i went there for a snowboarding holiday - it sucked!!!

      • I heard the Rocky Mountains are nice.

    • +3

Hire a sports bike and ride main island on a stunning sunny day. Or visit active volcano and watch lava pour into the ocean! Or hire a helicopter and land besides the waterfall filmed in Jurassic Park.

  • +3

the flight over is at 1pm, arriving around 6am in Honolulu

for Hawaiian airlines, the flight leaves at 9pm arriving around 1pm

depends on personal preference, I prefer Hawaiian as I fly out on a Friday night after work, maximising my days

the flight back is at 8 am in Honolulu while its midday for Hawaiian

also with lugguage make sure you get 30 kilos! and two
cause everything is soooo much cheaper in usa compared to Australia!

  • -6

Haawai is an overated overpriced hole better to go to cairns, port Douglas and the daintree.

    • +6

I'd prefer to go to Cairns, a more reasonably priced hole.

      • +1

yes, I heard everything is expensive there.

    • +2

      Wait… you're saying Port Douglas isn't overpriced?

    • You are doing it wrong. Don't just lie on the beach, you can do that anywhere, get out and explore! Go and see Humpback whales giving berth, or hike a volcano. Get amongst the traditional surfing culture or learn to play the Ukulele.

    • +2

      Cairns, lol.

  • +7

Waikkiki and Honolulu for sure have limited appeal, but boy the other islands esp Kauai and the Big Island are paradise. Not many places you can stand a metre away from the oven-like heat of a lava flow. Great experience!

    • +1

Waikkiki is tacky af. The Arizona Memorial is amazing, I really enjoyed the experience, it's done really well. And the Big Island is extraordinary. Paradise.

    • +3

Totally agree. Waikiki and honolulu I can never wait to get out of. The other islands have some truly amazing environments.

  • Great price for the flight but agree with other posters, booking with Jetstar so far in advance can be dangerous, they have changed my last 3 flights by 8+ hours a few weeks before the flight was due to depart.

    • Man how much does Will Jordan sound like Louis Theoroux?

    • Thank you for ruining my trip!

    • Yeah! Bring-on the F.U.D.!
Drives-up safety, and drives down promotional prices. Let those with rigid schedules overpay.

  • +3

Any good OzBargain-recommended places to stay over there? Or great places to visit/see or do? What's the shopping like also? Hawaii rookie over here :/

    • Seconding this.

    • +1

If you really want to shop, there's plenty in honolulu, including the Waikele premium outlets which are full of bogan aussies making away with their cheap loot.

Otherwise get the hell off Oahu and visit any of the other islands, they all have their amazing aspects. Never seen such clear waters as on the Big Island, such stunning resorts and rainforests as Kauai, and enjoyed beaches as much as Maui…

    • Head to Maui, sight-see the hell of that and then return to Oahu for shopping.

    • Go to Maitais at Ala Moana get a jug of heineken and enjoy some sweet reggae music!

  • where is Hawaii on Jetstar search? can't find it :(

    • +1

      Under USA
      Honolulu

  • +2

If anyone is thinking of going, I have had luck getting great interisland fare prices with these guys:
    http://www.pandaonline.com/

Not sure why but they seem to be able to offer interisland flights for around $60, compared with the usual $100 with hawaiian airlines.
Those prices are with Island Air, and are still cheaper than the airline's own page so yeh… whee.

Last time in HNL 4 of us hired a huge stretch from ABC Limousines for 4 hours for grand sum of USD$200!, had its own bar we supplied the booze, driver took us to all the well known places and commentary was excellent, dropped us off at Hilton Hawaiian Village for a very long lunch beach side, what a great day it was.

    • +2

      & + a tip from each of you I presume? $20 ea ?

      • Was USD$250 all up tax n tip.

    • @Foxtrail

dropped us off at Hilton Hawaiian Village

oh yeah haven't been for ages :)

      • Still the same, fabulous beach dining, right next to sand and bar, we love it.

  • +4

All the sale flights there except the end of March are now gone :(

I saw this early this morning but couldn't buy them at work. Now I'm sad. Damn you Ozbargain for making me want something I didn't want and now won't get!!

    • Have all the cheap flights disappeared due to the popularity? Flights back are still cheap.

      • Yeah I'm guessing so! Even flights back were very limited.

      • Yeah. Just get a flight back!

        :P

    • Hey, you save $ by not having to spend on flights you probably don't need.

      • +3

No. I booked a more expensive flight anyway. Cost me $820 instead.

        I'm sorry, ozbargain. I have failed you…

  • Looks like it has sold out? or am I not interpreting their monthly fare search correctly?

  • sold out.. went very fast.. i was about to book.. checked back 1 day later pretty much all gone. i flight out at 24th March was all i could find.
no flights back goto act very quick
