Laser 10.1" Tablet $162.38 Online Only Today @ DSE

This looks like a reasonable tablet deal, particularly if the included maps are of interest. However, despite having maps, it doesn't have a GPS built in. Probably possible to use an external bluetooth GPS mouse.

Harvey Norman has it on their website today for $153. http://www.harveynorman.com.au/computers-tablets/ipads-table…

    Price matching is in order…..

  • Hmmm, strange cannot find any info on this unit if it has gps or not.
It is very misleading if they sold it without GPS though.

Since they mention it having maps but you don't have the hardware to use them. lol.

    • It's more like a street directory . No GPS needed

They've been that price at Harvey for nearly a year now.. these are bottom of the barrel tablets.. no deal here I'm afraid

    • I should have given more reason why this is no deal. My downvote has been removed.

Not sure why anyone would invest in a Laser piece of technology….. especially something $100+

Review from whirlpool, posted in January

This time I'm going for budget 10" tablet. I bought Laser 10" MID-1040 for $158 at HN two weeks ago, mostly for the kids. It had a defect 2 days after I purchased it, with their $30 – 3yr extended warranty. HN doesn't want to know about it. I rang Laser, explained the situation. Laser rep said try HN again, if no joy, send it back. I ended up sending it back myself, $13 in postage, regular post. And 3 days later, they sent me back a brand new one, on express courier. Thanks Laser for standing by your product.

Picture quality is not as good as ipad/samsung. But the internal speaker is clearly audible 30cm away. Unlike Thomson, Amicroe or Pendo Pad that requires an earphone (internal speaker barely audible even if you put the tablet in front of your face). Good enough, if you have kids that can't share an earphone.
There are various free apps that offer free blockbuster grade movies, some movies are currently showing!

The only competition is Kmart's latest Audiosonic 10" for $199, with quad core and 2MP+5MP cameras. I contacted their support team and they said the tablet is audible from 1m away. But I can't verify that, as there is no dispaly/working model in their stores.

But seriously, please nobody buy this POS. Pay a little bit more, get a far superior tablet.

  • OP do your research, I wouldn't post about something I clearly have little knowledge about

  • no deal, HN sells it for cheaper. lol.
