Nosefrida is the best selling Baby Product in the world and has been an Amazon best seller for over 6 years
http://www.amazon.com/Nosefrida-The-Snotsucker-Nasal-Aspirat…

So why is Nosefrida better than other aspirators?
Nosefrida is non-invasive-instead of going inside the nose like the bulb, it forms a seal with the outside of the baby”s nostril(creating a vacuum) Parent powered(mouth) suction is much stronger and effective than the static suction of the bulb or battery powered aspirators.

NoseFrida is also easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and BPA & Phthalate free.

NoseFrida was developed by ear nose and throat specialists over 10 years ago and helps over 500,000 parents each year worldwide.

Used and recommended by Paediatricians, TGA approved in Australia and FDA(Food and drug administration,USA)

Nosefrida is the number one selling Nasal Aspirator Worldwide, it reduces the amount of mucous in the nose. When your baby is congested and they are too young to blow their own nose, Nosefrida helps clear their nose, enabling them to breathe,
feed and sleep easier.

Good price. Thanks OP. Already have one, just buying another one for a mate that's going to have a kid soon. I know they will definitely need it! Highly recommended to anyone having kids and it makes a great present :)

    • Its probably the cheapest Baby Shower present you can get, think of the money you save at the next Baby Shower

NoseFrida was developed by ear nose and throat specialists over 10 years ago and helps over 500,000 parents each year worldwide.

Japanese have been using this for ages…

    • Its used throughout the world, its the best selling baby product… It was originally made in Sweden and all units are still made in Sweden and imported here

      http://www.amazon.com/Nosefrida-The-Snotsucker-Nasal-Aspirat…

Check the link on Amazon, over 3000 positive reviews, they sell thousands directly through the site and Pharmacies

      $10 is a bargain

  • +1

Just a note: The NoseFrida comes with 3 filters already in the package. But it's only $5 extra to get 20 more. It's not a bad thing having too many (same goes for Eneloop batteries). Purchased both :)
OP maybe you can make it a package deal so it comes with both for $15 rather than having to add the Nosefrida to the cart then click on 'Buy Now' and having to add the Filter and add to cart as well.

  • +3

It's already $10 here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331033047782, and $15 with the extra filters: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231144829647, so apart from buying direct what's the bargain?

    • +2

We retail on our site for $15.95 so its $5.95 off, due to price fixing laws being a federal offence we can not tell people what price to sell at and those other deals are good also, either way its a bargain..You're good at sniffing out a deal

      • Maybe he already has one of these, hence why he was able to sniff out that deal.

        • Or an Ozbargain Jedi

  • +2

can you use this for anything else?

    • +8

Turkey baster, IVF, Siphonong your car, Drugs, the list is endless

    • +3

Baby snot is not going to be that harmful.

      • +3
        • +1

Funny and utterly gross at the same time.

    • +2

It is not uncommon in many cultures for the adult to simply suck the snot straight out of the infant's nose. Unless it is really tasty it gets spat out.

      • +1

Yes, very normal in the Maori culture, I sold loads in New Zealand, I hope I haven't broken some sort of cultural rule or something

        • Not at all it is well documented worldwide.

  • The Snotsucker Aspirator…Sounds like something named by a 10 year old.

    • +1

Its actually the nickname for it…the real name is Nosefrida Aspirator, its was developed in Sweden by Ear nose and Throat specialists for kids suffering from Bronchitis that had to be siphoned out daily to keep them out of hospital..FRIDA actually means Free in Swedish, so Free Nose meaning unblocked…

Outside of Australia this product has huge market share, here it is relatively new and only the early adopters use it..

Is that too much info for you?

If it was a 10 year old that invented it he would be able to buy a lot of lollies..its an international best seller..

      • Calm down bro, I didn't say it was bad at all. I like the name.

        • +4

Heheh, I'm calm mate, i'm at the beach watching all this unfold..everything I say is tongue in cheek or should I say snot in nose

      • Yeah mann…a little tense there.

        • For sure Bro but you know why, there was a camping sale on Ozbargains and they were doing 2 for 1 on everything, so I got two tents..

  • +3

    I just do this myself.

Mouth straight over the nostril… FREE!

There are much worse things babies get in your mouth than snot. Though I am sure to spit it out pronto.

    • For $10 bucks you can have a snot straw to do it for you…

  • +11

They should have called his "Noseferatu". It vants to suck your snot!

    • +2

This, a hundred times this. I only regret that I have but one up-vote to give for your comment…

  • +2

Is it one filter to one clean? Or can you clear the nose a few times before changing the filter?

    • +1

its entirely up to you, some people use the origanal 4 filters it comes with for the entire time, other people use them plus the packet which holds another 20…

Usually what happens is you lose a couple of filters from kids playing with them..

Some people mop their floor 5 times a day, other people once a week, Mucous never really gets near the filter and if it does then your child is in a bad way and you should go to the hospital..

  • +2

Hey Op, I think I came across your start up story in one of my Uni Marketing subject class.

well done on the achievement…plus I'm getting one for my daughter

  • +1

You mean this one below, I've done quite a few startup's outside of Australia and I find the Government here doesn't really help you play the game, they let anything into the Country import tax and GST free which makes it difficult to compete, I think they would rather you go on the dole..I'll get off my soap box now..

How I dealt with a distribution dilemma
Friday, 7 September 2012 | By Michelle Hammond

my-best-mistake-nosafrida-thumbWhen you know you’ve got a good product, all you want to do is sell, sell, sell. But what if you can’t find a way to distribute your product? This was the issue faced by Steve Riley.

Riley is the Australian distributor of NoseFrida, a Swedish device that allows parents to suck the mucous from their baby’s nose, enabling them to breathe better.

The tip of the tube-like device is held near the baby’s nostril and the other end is placed in the parent’s mouth.

When the parent sucks on the tube, the pressure removes the mucous from their baby’s nose. A hygiene filter inside the tube catches all the material, making it safe for parents to use.

Riley stumbled across the product online while looking for an ailment for his baby girl, who was born with a severe cold.

He was so impressed with NoseFrida he decided to become the Australian distributor. And while he knew he was onto a good thing, he struggled to find an effective distribution channel.

“I have a really good background in IT – I ran digital agencies in Brazil and England. Online marketing is pretty easy for me, so I thought I would do B2C,” Riley says.

“My premise was to make money but my underlying core values were to offer a good product at a good price.”

“Because I was a father as well, I didn’t want what happened to me to happen to someone else. I set it up online and after a month, I was offering free shipping, with 24-hour delivery, for $10.”

Riley soon found the majority of orders were for Express Post due to the nature of the product.

“The mums weren’t planning for their baby to become sick and, when it does become sick, they want [a solution] straight away – they want it there and then, on the day,” he says.

“I realised I would have to change from B2C to B2B.”

“It was more of a pharmaceutical product than a baby store product, even though I have good distribution in baby stores now, so I started to go to the pharmacies.”

“I approached all my local pharmacies and no one really wanted to know about the product. The only way I could get in was consignment, which was another mistake I made.”

“I also live on the Central Coast, which has the highest elderly population in Australia. If I was selling walking sticks, I would have made really good money but I was selling a baby product.”

Desperate to establish a distribution channel, Riley began promoting the product at baby expos.

“At the expos, there were 20,000 mums and every one of them was telling me that they couldn’t use another product available in Australia and they were having a nightmare,” he says.

“I had no distribution… until I stumbled across a new way to [enter the] market. A mum over in Perth asked if I could give her a box of 10 to sell to her mother’s group.”

“That was on a Friday. On the Monday, she emailed me back and said, ‘Can I have another 20?’ She sold 30 aspirators in only a few days.”

“I studied direct marketing… and put together a good email explaining what I wanted to do. I sent it out to everyone who had bought the product.”

“That was very much a major turning point. Mums believe mums, so I had 50 mums sign up [as distributors] straight away, which pretty much put me around the whole of Australia.”

On the back of this win, Riley decided to have another crack at the pharmacies. He exhibited at a pharmacy convention in Sydney, where NoseFrida was voted best new product.

“We got a lot of really good orders from that and now we’re really well covered in Sydney – a lot of the chemists on board are in Sydney. But I still had no national presence,” Riley says.

“I kept going to baby expos and I was at a Brisbane expo when all of a sudden one lady said, ‘Where is this product ranged?’ I turned to her and said, ‘That’s not a mummy question’.”

“She was one of the buyers for Terry White Chemist… They took the product on nationally and they’ve really backed me up. They gave me the distribution I needed.”

“There’s about 6,000 chemists [in Australia] and I’d be in under 300. Chemmart has now agreed to add the product into all their stores.”

“The other thing I was pretty stoked about was Guy Hinze from Bubs Baby Shops took it on, which is really good, and also My Baby Warehouse.”

Riley, who continues to operate as a sole trader, says while he’s happy NoseFrida has finally hit the shelves, he has no plans to slow down.

“The good thing has been even though I’m only in 300 stores, I am in 300 stores. I’ve also taken on about four or five other really good products,” he says.

Yeah that's the one…the lecturer printed it out as handouts.

would it be possible to get some tips as to how to start a startup? :)

      • posted tips below

      • Another good start up option is this, this was actually one of Ozbargains most popular deals for a while, watch the Canon CDLI index https://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/About-Canon/News-Events/Canon…
This gives you buying trends, I saw a trend in SLR Cameras so I made a Photography Course..there will be trends in the future and if you are on top of them you can do something about it..

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61247

Anymore tips and I'll start charging hehe

Great background on how you kept adjusting your strategy without giving up, congratulations on the success you are having, looks like you are on a big winner here. The thing I am interested in, but which you may not be at liberty to comment on, is what enabled you to become the sole Australian distributor ie. for a new product in a new country, did you have to agree to purchase x amount of units (which may have provided the urgency which forced you to find a way) or were they happy to give you plenty of time retaining sole distributor rights without selling much (and not going broke), until you worked out a way?

      • +1

Well its the best selling Baby Product in the World and I knew all I had to do was get the word out, yes I had to purchase a lot.

Its no use to just sit back and relax, its either going to work or not, always an outcome, if you just sit back and wait for things to happen it might not work but it will take a long time to find that out, I'd rather do 100% and if it works great, if it doesn't move onto something else, there are always lots of opportunities..

What about Green Gyms where the people are producing the energy from bikes or pushing weights, yes it wouldn't be enough to light a light bulb bu its the though that counts hehe, 10% to me from whoever sets that up..

        • Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it. I guess you had to be prepared and willing to actually lose that investment if it didn't pan out, so it's good to see you finally start getting returns on that risk.

        • +1

          @COR80:

this one was low risk as it was already a best seller but its always a question of when you hit a beach and nobody is using Thongs ..

Some people think that no one would want to buy thongs as they don't use them, I always think great no one has thongs so a huge market…

        • @poohah:

and here is the market and do you really want to be the one who was responsible

          really such a big market!

        • @Kevan2:

Stay tuned bro, I figured out a way to increase your metabolism supa fast without the crap they try to sell you supplements ect ect, I used myself as the guniea pig and scared the shit out of myself I lost so much weight, im shooting a video on it right now

        • @poohah:
Like your style. Turn a comic(?) jab into a marketing offer. Even with daylight savings I wonder when you sleep or maybe you have baby or little people in home.

    This deal sucks! ;)

    • +4

I know, its snot right it is..anyway the people that nose a good bargain will get on it

      • +1

There are a few things that have helped me along the way
I'm not a Steve Jobs fan but when I get my arse kicked its good to watch
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3tJwYXad-M
        Reading
The 4-Hour Workweek Timothy Ferriss, this will help you outsourse
The long Tail Chris Anderson this will help you in Niche markets
80/20 principle Richard Koch, this will help you manage your time

Think outside the Box, sometimes things are very simple..

I'll give you an example. Have you ever heard of a guy named Colonel Sanders? Of course you have. How did Colonel Sanders become such an unbelievable success? Was it because he was born wealthy? Was his family rich? Did they send him to a top university like Harvard? Maybe he was successful because he started his business when he was really young. Are any of these true?

The answer is no. Colonel Sanders didn't begin to fulfill his dream until he was 65 years old! What drove him to finally take action? He was broke and alone. He got his first social security cheque for $105, and he got mad but instead of blaming society or just writing congress a nasty note, he started asking himself, "What could I do that would be valuable for other people? What could I give back?" He started thinking about what he had that was valuable to others.

His first answer was, "Well, I have this chicken, recipe, everyone seems to love! What if I sold my chicken recipe to restaurants? Could I make money doing that?" Then he immediately thought, "That's ridiculous. Selling my recipe won't even pay the rent." And he got a new idea: "What if I not only sold them my recipe but also showed them how to cook the chicken properly? What if the chicken was so good that it increased their business? If more people come to see them and they make more chicken sales, maybe they will give me a percentage of those additional sales."

Many people have great ideas. But Colonel Sander was different. He was a man who didn't just think of great things to do. He put them into action. He went and started knocking on doors, telling each restaurant owner his story: "I have a great chicken recipe, and I think if you use it, it'll increase your sales. And I'd like to get a percentage of that increase."

Well, many people laughed in his face. They said, "Look, old man, get out of here. What are you wearing that stupid white suit for?" Did Colonel Sanders give up? Absolutely not. He had the #1 key to success; I call it personal power. Personal power means being persistence in taking action: Every time you do something, you learn from it, and you find a way to do it better next time. Colonel Sanders certainly used his personal power! Instead of feeling bad about the last restaurant that had rejected his idea, he immediately start focusing on how to tell his story more effectively and get better results from the next restaurant.

How many times do you think Colonel Sanders heard no before getting the answer he wanted? He was refused 1,009 times before he heard his first yes. His spent two years driving across America in his old, beat-up car, sleeping in the back seat in his rumpled white suit, getting up each day eager to share his idea with someone new. Often, the only food he had was a quick bite of the samples he was preparing for perspective buyers. How many people do you think would have gone for 1,009 no's - two years of no's! - and kept on going? Very few. That's why there is only one Colonel Sanders. I think most people wouldn't get passed twenty no's, much less a hundred or a thousand! Yet this is sometimes what it takes to succeed.

If you look at any of the most successful people in history, you will found this common thread: They would not be denied. They would not accept no. They would not allow anything to stop them from making their vision, their goal, a reality. Did you know that Walt Disney was turned down 302 times before he got financing for his dream of creating "The Happiest Place on Earth"? All the banks thought he was crazy. He wasn't crazy; he was a visionary and, more important, he was committed to making that vision a reality. Today, millions of people have shared in "the joy of Disney", a world like no other, a world launched by the decision of one man.

        • +1

          Thanks!! :)

        • I love these stories but I feel it's important to mention persistence is only one factor in their success. There are many people that have persisted with their dreams for decades and still failed.

        • @psdillon:

It always depends on your version of failing, I'd rather fail doing my dream than win doing something I didn't like, its makes a much more interesting conversation at the nursing home..

        • @poohah: Absolutely, I agree with you. Conventional wisdom tends to leave that failure bit out though. For example, I wasted my high school years playing musical instruments. I was very average, but conventional wisdom is to always encourage and talk about perseverance. After a few years I would have appreciated it if someone told me that I was unlikely to get any better at music and to try something else.

        • +1

          @psdillon:

Don't forget Steve Jobs dropped out and wasted his time doing Calligraphy Classes that now are the basis of the keyboard you are using now, you never waste time, its what makes you the person you are today..bettering playing musical instruments than stealing cars

        • @psdillon:
Did you enjoy playing instruments at the time? If so, you may have been more successful doing that back then than what you are today in your now chosen path!

And you want to talk missed chances or wasted opportunities… Even though, and I'm happy to debate it, I still feel that I may be one of the most successful men on the planet. Just depends what you're basing your successes on! :)

        • My original poorly articulated point got conflated somewhere along the line. :) I don't disagree with you guys, I just want to tell anyone with a chicken recipe and perseverance: it's probably not enough, don't follow conventional wisdom to bankruptcy. If you read above, even you poohah talk about doing this 100% and succeeding/failing quickly, so you're balancing perseverance with time-boxing.

        • @psdillon:
Thoroughly agree that it takes a shipload more than just perseverance. It's also a little caution, a bit of common sense, and let's be honest… a lot of luck too! Who knows what's around the corner for any of us or what someone else is doing that'll impact on us!

      • Don't think it will help with the constipation. Might be a market for it though if you allowed to sell it in Australia.

I paid via paypal, merchant details as below:

  • Can you email through to [email protected], we do quite a lot each week and some get lost in the post, cheers

    • Well I already emailed [email protected] trying to check the progress of order on 9/Aug. Guess what? no reply so far.

      • Do you have an order number or name I can check the order

        • Yep - Transaction ID: 9AL30571U1093815C; Invoice #3226

        • @addicted:

got it Alok and will resend

  • Or 8 for $80, per the pop-up that comes up when you add an item to cart.

Also - what are the filters made from? reusable if washed?

    …this IS Ozbargain

    • Yes they are, just like sponge from a washing up sponge

  • lots pharmacies sell the Fess little nose saline spray/drops that comes with aspirator that can sucks out the mucus for around $15 too, so, is this much better than that?

    • +1

Obviously I'm the rep and I'm going to say yes but the bottom line is this..

60% of my sales go to people who have already bought Fess and know its useless

The fess uses a bulb to suck the pressure so you need to time that with the baby moving its head around as they are freaking from having something stuck up their nose..

The nosefrida uses constant suction and doesn't enter the nose…

I do the baby expos and could shoot videos of people saying exactly the same thing, I'm a dad and I speak from experience..

      • +1

Yes, huge pain in the 'nose' to use the Fess one (or similar)! The kids hate it, but it's something we just have to do… Until now! (well as soon as it arrives!)

        • You'll be buying the pack of 10 for $80 bucks and hanging around nurseries and baby centres reselling next

  • +1

Damn I got sucked into buying this for my new born.

    hope it doesn't blow.

    • if it does then you are doing it all wrong

  • Can this be used for boofing?

  • There's one in every crowd isn't there, yes it can but you didn't here it from us…

  • Very interesting discussion, what is 'boofing'?

  • This must've been Austin Powers inspired

Bilbo, Frodo and their mates will have a great time with this thing

      • I was going to say that all those who paid for something and haven't received it are suckers, but that would be such a bad pun that it would be lower than my own usual low standards.

        So I won't.

      • Hi OP,

I received my partial order last week. I say partial because I ordered 2x Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator plus Filters but I haven't received any filters at all. Not even the 3 filters that come with aspirator.

I have already emailed twice on [email protected] since then but got no reply. There is no other contact info on the website?? Would appreciate if someone can came back on this. Invoice # was 3885.

Probably you wanna add some more contact info if this email is not checked frequently.

  • No worries, got your order and will resend

  • Rep, I have received my nosefrida but missing the filter kit.
I have sent an email via [email protected] with non reply.
    Please advise.
