      I'm surprised at that… Supermarket ones are usually flavourless and unripened, and often mouldy…

        I find the bigger the strawberries are, the less taste they have. Are they big or small?

        My experience with strawberries at home is they go mouldy if they become overripened. Your supermarket must stock a new variety that can be unripened and mouldy at the same time.

        mould is due to bacterial growth…

        I know that at Woolworths we can't sell them if they're mouldy, and if they are we replace and refund.

        @jv: Wouldn't hurt to tell someone about it in store. Depends on the store though, I know our produce manager is pretty dedicated to having a presentable dept. but I can't speak for others.

  just to weigh in here, they were selling them 4 for $5 at my local (carindale in brisbane)

  may be worth checking out anyway, must have been a good growing season

  my local fruit shop is selling 500g punnet 3 for $6 or $2.50 each. They are all good size not too big or small and taste very good.

  I got some at coles i think it was 3 for $6

  I chose 2 packs large and 1 pack medium sized and I was surprised how much flavour they had and fresh and hard not mouldy
