for 99c is it really? Not trying to sound snarky, genuinely curious.

I got an orange one for the usual price of three bucks and I thought it was a solid umbrella for the price, at 99c this is definitely a steal/good buy.
solid handle, automatic button that extends/folds out the umbrella, manually retract it, only thing is, it is fairly lightweight weight, so hold on tight in windy conditions, but it gets the job done

      • Yeah I bought one at $3 and it's pretty decent quality. Opens and close solid and smoothly.

    How about Rhodes?

    • Anyone can confirm?

    • +1

None that I could see. They had patterned umbrellas for $2.99 near the checkouts, but no 99c ones.

  • Can you ikeahack it?

  • A bit too colorful or is it just me? ;-)

    • Its supposed to be, it turns you into a walking IKEA endorsement… No good if you just blend into the background….

Take it from a guy using a black umbrella on a dark and stormy night, that was hit by a car while crossing the road (I had a green walk light!)… The more visible your are in wet weather, the better!

My dad was hit by a cyclist when he was on the way to the hotel from a conference in Queensland. It was late at night.

His palms were almost shredded to the bone because of the impact with the ground. Immediately after the impact, he heard the woman screaming "holy s***, I have killed him"!

I feel sorry for both of them. Dad for the terrible wounds and the lady for the mental trauma.

EDIT: WEAR HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHES AT NIGHT. YOU AIN'T BATMAN!

        • @liveyourlife: Hit by a cyclist and had that much damage? I feel so naive. Was the woman injured too?

        • @waterlogged turnip:

She did, but it was just a bruise from smashing into something.. I don't remember what.

And it was downhill. It probably added to the damage.

      • I reckon great for kids walking to school as well - just like how kids wear (or used to wear) those bright yellow raincoats.

there's a much more decent blue colour one.

  • This should replace ozb popular woodworm umbrella.

If anyone is worried about stock levels at Richmond, you can relax.

There are hundreds near the checkout, but the real stock is just at the bottom of the stairs when you go between floors on your right. There must be THOUSANDS there. I reckon even Broden would struggle :)

Can they even make them for $0.99?

  • not so good for kids, the pointy tip easily poke your kids's friends and creating unintended war with their parents !!
also, this umbrella rusted well after few months, and ours were the pink ones ( Gone with the Bin)

  • I was going to start a thread this weekend titled "High quality umbrellas". I'm sick of the sub-$10 ones that fall apart after a few uses. Maybe I'll give this one a try. But I'm happy to pay up to $50 for something solid and reliable.

    • With this, you wouldn't need anything else for a long time.

    • Well for $50, you can buy 50 of these and probably have enough umbrellas to pass them to your great grandkids./

    • you need to learn how to look after your stuff. never have had any problems with any of my umbrellas. i am pretty sure none of them are "expensive".

I am pretty sure they are trying to clear this product.
They no longer make this umbrella (doesn't even appear on the online inventory.)

They have since replaces these "BETONAD" umbrellas (Blue and yellow) with the new "KNALLA" series (Black, grey, red with patterns).

  • still got these?

    • +1

yes… yesterday (Mon) the sign still said 99 cents, but they scan at $4.99.

they will do a price override down to 99 cents.

      • hey,

got some yesterday and no need to price override at self checkout.. went through at 0.99c
