909 24V 13mm Hammer Drill Driver for $89 Click and Collect @ Masters

60

Was looking for a cheap around the house DIY kinda drill driver. Living in a unit very occasionally the hammer capability is required.

I know it's not the best brand but for the price it is good value with two batteries and a fast charger

Edit: Forgot to mention that their 18v is listed for $129….. Go figure….

  • For a general purpose around the house drill this would be OK, but for something that's gonna get used daily it probably wouldn't last too long.

    • Meaning not good for tradies.

      • Tradies aren't shopping on ozbargin for our gear. Most of us already get trade prices.

You'd probably get fired if you rocked up with this.

With a low budget, consider buying a cheap corded hammer drill, plus a separate better quality non-hammer cordless.
It will be lighter, last longer, better to use.
Unless you really want your masonry drill to be cordless.

    • I agree. For the amount of time you want to use the battery will probably be flat. It's easy just to run a lead, drill the hole and it's all done. Easy.

    • Double agree. You can get an entry-level corded Makita for about $100. I use that for the rough stuff and keep another cordless drill for everything else.

  • I have no hesitation recommending this drill for any general DIY jobs. I have the 18v version of this drill and it's great. Prior to that I had a late model Bosch blue series 18v Li-Ion hammer drill that I sold to buy the 909 after using a friend's.

I haven't used the hammer function so can't comment on how that compares with a corded hammer drill but no doubt it wouldn't be as good.

I paid $75 for mine on sale but that was when the 24v version was nearly $200 so $89 is a bargain as far I'm concerned.

  • I got this drill on sale for $40. It's great, has a keyless chuck that actually works. Feels well built, hasn't given me any trouble. I don't know if $89 is a great bargin, but the drill is worth the price. 2 batteries is a good bonus.

  • I agree with the others - I wouldn't pay $89 for this. I'd go a cheap corded, or if you really want to spend more then go $100 on a higher quality one. Most people won't be using it too much, and if you are, then the battery won't last anyway…
