Which ones are good for bad backs?

Ironically you probably have a bad back from too much sitting (As do I).

      • Admire your honesty Rich.

      Hi Isdbeta,

A great investment for your back would be the e-human chair.

A little bit about the chair.

Recommended for intensive use 6-8 hours per day. The Chair has met quality standards for safety and durability established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA).

      • This is just a re-branded Ergohuman V1 from China. It can be bought for $280 less here with a 10 year warranty instead of the 12 month warranty from simplyfurniture.

        • The Ergohuman in your link has fewer adjustment options. Have a look underneath the seat - there's no lever coming off the main support, nor are there the cables that go to (I'm guessing) adjustment knobs on the sides. There's also no headrest.

It's a bit like how Herman Miller make the ~$800 Aeron, as well as some bog-standard non-adjustable $200 mesh waiting-area chairs under the same name.

        • still expensive though compare to the one that has head rest v1.

or V2 deluxe version $699 though

or V2 plus $589. I think this one closer to the item above

Yes there is. You can see the adjustment knob and cables in this photo. Both chairs are identical and are only adjustable to 3 positions. The headrest is an optional extra and only costs $20. All of these chairs are sourced from the same manufacturer in China (comfort100.com).

Nope, the E-Human from simplyfurniture is the Ergohuman V1. The V2 (which I own) is adjustable to 5 positions and has a different base.

  • Bad back? Ergonomic chairs available. Yes, but this is simply furniture…I suspect you'd find truly ergonomic chairs elsewhere.

Are these good chairs. I am need of a new chair since the gas lift on my one has stopped working.

    • Hi Ufsta,

We've been able to source suppliers who also supply to high end office suppliers.

We provide warranty for all chairs sold through our website.

    • Hi ufsta - I occasionally clean the stem/shaft with an old rag sprayed with a LITTLE WD-40 on it and raise/lower the seat a few times.

Some are likely to disagree with me, but as long as you only use a little '40' you may revive the hydro action & be pleasantly surprised.
Put a drop onto the other hinges & wheel bearings as well while you are at it. A little maintenance can often make an older chair feel like new.

Remember - the trick is to use VERY little WD-40. The point is much more to CLEAN than lubricate the shaft!
If you overdo it you may totally lose the sealing properties of the hydraulic shaft.

Has worked for me for YEARS & on many chairs but I hesitate to offer the advise as have found many are quick to rubbish the idea.
Worth a try if the general condition & padding etc on the chair is half decent, if the chair is in really bad shape, it may well be time to update.
I must say, the deal on offer seems quite good!

      Regards.

      • actually… the chair goes up but when you sit on it, it goes down, doesnt stay up.

        • Gotcha.

  • The operator chairs are designed for sitting on for long periods of time.
