Great idea for a give away.

I might suggest two as one is a local organisation so might not get many votes.

The closest Meals on wheels to CrazyStu
I am sure some of their volunteers are not yet up to digital TV

    • I've noted both.

Hi, we only have a normal tv at my local fire station that I am a member of. We would greatly need a set top box when we are waiting in the next fire season for the for the call to head out on the truck to whatever indecent is unfolding.

We could also sell a couple at our annual fete with pulls in funds to assist us upgrading our gear to help the community better.

Out fire brigade name is as follows:

Matcham Holgate Rural Fire Brigade. NSW

    Thankyou very much.

    Edit:
Just saw your actually on the Central coast. Great news :)

  • So its 50 set top boxes in total. 10 each to the 5 charities that get the most votes?

The title needs to be updated.

Even if you vote for a charity. They may not get enough votes to get any.

    • I assume when they say "Your choice", they are talking collectively between us. i.e. our choice.

This is correct. The top 5 charities with the most votes will receive the units for internal use, donation, auction, raffles etc.

what do charities need set top boxes for

    • -1

wouldn't it be better if you just gave them money? Unless they put the set top boxes in the trading post and make some money that way?

My vote for McGuinness McDermott Foundation (help the kids in S.A. with cancer!)
    http://www.mcfoundation.com.au/about/faqs/

  • I would like to nominate:

    1. ME/CFS Society http://sacfs.asn.au/
At present the Society does not receive any government funding. It is run entirely by volunteers: parents, friends & spouses of people with ME/CFS – as well as sufferers themselves. Your donation will help us deliver important services to people with ME/CFS. It will make a difference.

    2. RSPCA

    Thankyou.

    • hahah what r the RSPCA going to want a HD set top box for… dogs & cats don't need to watch HD TV

I vote that its given to charities who can use them, eg Starlight Foundation (they run activity rooms in hospitals for sick kids so I'm sure they could be put to use) and Cerebral Palsy association for use in their care centers and hostels.

    • +3

+1 for a couple of the boxes to Starlight.

Can I just say it's GREAT you're giving to charity. Keep up the great work. I used to donate older PCs (they can still run linux/open office).

  • +3

I would suggest donating to :

Wagga Wagga Society of Model Engineers
who put in hours of hard labour, building model trains for kids and families to ride on; they donate time and money to charities [Riverina Cancer Centre, Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary, 24-hour Cancer Council Train Ride Fund Raising, Miss Wagga Wagga Quest, Country Hope and many more]. Let them dispose of it in a raffle/lucky draw in their Annual Train Run and donate the money to these charities which they support.
All the ride money ($2) go back into the facilties which they build.
None of the members receive any money or salary. Annual reports are audited.

Wagga Wagga Society of Model Engineers
PO Box 7119 WAGGA WAGGA NSW 2650

Please support this worthwhile organisation, they are in the tourist attraction to
multiply the costs of these units for a charity. Of course, CrazyStu will get evidence of the monetary donation.

ok as per the instructions - starlight children's foundation and ronald mcdonald house charities - both charities that help sick kids - and they will make sure they will go where they are needed!!

and i'm adding - the Cerebral Palsy Association as my kids have several relatives with cp

    I'd like to nominate
    1) RSPCA
    2) Lort Smith Animal Hospital

Who won these set top boxes?

  • Perhaps this is why Crazy Stu no longer has bargains here, sounds like they didnt get sent out, how sad if this is true.

Crazy Stu please tell us the details ie which charities won etc
