was waiting for this phone… a few months ago… until there was 20% off the Moto G… lost interest in the 1+1…

Don't regret the decision at all and was sick of all the forced advertising to get the invite.

    • +6

If you're satisfied with the Motorola G, I don't think this phone was meant for you anyway.

  • -6

i rather buy of gumtree…pick up same day + international version running cyanogenmod , just 30 bucks more.
anyone will sell for $500…so i prefer decent one ,my one ,the one plus one.
not some chinese colour os lol

  • -4

Stuff gumtree, didnt u read the story of a guy in sydney who went to buy a phone off this guy from gumtree, was shot dead and money stolen.

    • +4

No, but I've read about many car accidents happening that kill lots of people.

      I still drive though!

      • Yeh that has nothing to do with it, i still drive too, bad example lol

        • lol…i sell phone on guntree and buy them….often very often…never got shot

        • @TurkishDelight:

This only means you do the shooting :).

  • I'm abit confused. I thought this phone was cyagenomod. I've never flashed a phone before so reports this comes with a chinese OS is unsettling - are there different versions? I.e. these are being sold from china? and western market stocks are in the normal native OS? Has anyone done tests on the phone for malware yet?

More importantly how does 5 hours SOT and the 1/2 days standby charge compare to say the sony xperia z2 - $670 from telstra, was considering that but one plus one seems real cheap?

Can you get the one plus one in asia though - Kualur Lumpur, Bangkok?

    • +1

I'll answer your question in dot points.

      • There are two models of the phone. The international version sold through the US which comes with Cyanogenmod as the default ROM and the chinese version of the phone which comes with Oppo's (OPO parent company) Color OS.

      • There is no malware on either phones, both options are completely safe.

      • The only difference between the international and chinese models is that the chinese model does not have support for LTE Band 4 and Band 17. Which means you won't be able to use the phone in the USA on both 4G and 3G networks. Also, as mentioned about the chinese model comes with ColorOS as standard.

      • I get about 6 hours SOT with the OPO, which is like for like with my Sony Xperia Z2.

      • You can buy one in a few shops around Kuala Lumpur, i bought one last week in KL from a shop called Nano Technology on Jalan Ipoh. Not a hard store to find, just google it. ($469AU). It's actually cheaper to buy the same thing from T-Dimension online ($443AU).

      • You can buy the chinese model online and they will tell you what firmware the phone comes with. If they say it comes with Cyanogenmod- this means they have opened the phone and performed the firmware change. T-Dimension clearly mentions the fact it comes with ColorOS however it's not hard to change the firmware, root and unlockbootloader.

      Hope that helps.

PS: T-Dimension has the cheapest 64GB OPO at the moment for $443

      • Thanks Crazycs - so you upgraded from a Z2? I was thinking of getting a Z2 otherwise - did you have any issues with cracking glass issue that they've mentioned?

WHen you bought from the shop in KL was the phone with Cyanogenmod or the chinese OS?

If one does queue up for a OPO invite for the international version though, do they ship to Aus? or do people have to use an US post forwarder?

  • How does an overseas chinese phone interact in terms of compatability with our frequency bands i.e. telstra, optus, and future proofing for the new mhz frequencies - telstra's bringing out 700 mhz aren't they?

    • +2

      This has been mentioned above.

The international AND chinese OPOs does not support Band 28 LTE 700Mhz.

Therefore, you cannot use this phone on Telstra and Optus 700Mhz LTE.

      • Thanks. It works fine then on current gen 4G telstra bands though? which were 2600 or 2100 was it? from memory…

  • stereo speakers with 5MP front camera but no microsd slot? -_-

    • +1

just watched a review saying it's not actually stereo speakers but dual mono

      • Yep dual mono. No MicroSD slot is somewhat alleviated by 64GB internal memory.

      • Reviewer audiophileon forums.oneplus states for the variant, Color OS default sound output can be set to stereo; though, course, that is zero comfort for CM11 or minimal benefit with an inch between speakers in 1+1's case anyway.

Moreover tinny sounding voices, typical lacking around the lower frequencies, portend a disappointing feedback/YouTube 20m05s markBUT, w/ that said. . importantly can get the reverse with a - suggested, open back - pair decent headphones for refined /solitary listening. Ideally will obviate ie DACs OTG.

  • Apparently the white back is slippery and this is not the case with sandstone back.

    • Correct the white has a HTC One X feel with a polycarbonate back.

The black has a Nexus 5 feel with a bit of a rougher grip back.

  • Any invites would be appreciated.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this is not a deal? I thought OzB was about being cheapest, not about being impatient.

$479 for the 64gb chinese version from DWI, vs ~$430 for international direct from OnePlus. So the only reason you would buy this one is not because you save money, but because you can't wait for an invite.

I know this might not sit well with some of you, and probably be my most negged comment ever, but surely the best deal is actually from OnePlus. Most people that sign up to the forums and be helpful get an invite within a week or two. Under any other scenario, that little bit of extra work for 10% discount would count as a deal.

And yes, I am a fan of the OPO. Best value for money high spec phone around.

    • Invites = Targeted offers = No good deal for OzB…

      • +2

Some people also factor in how fast they get the phone. I'm sure using a forwarder sending from America will be a bit slower. It works out around $3-4 cheaper buying the international version if you have an invite, which is hardly significantly enough cheaper when you factor in the extra time and steps. Let alone waiting who knows how long to get invited. Also with the change in the exchange rate, the international version may not be the cheapest option it seems.

      • Even if I signed on to their Forum, in April .. I doubt you will have a working valid invite today. Would have to be a mug to repeat sign up. but worse - no oz stock.

    • +3

At the moment they are not able to ship directly to Australia which means you still have to pay for a delivery service to forward your package to Australia from a launch country.

  • i dont get it.. i remember when nokia announce lumia phone and ppl crying out loud "heavyyyy…." and this one slightly heavier than lumia 1020 and no one complaint about it? lol..

    • +1

      It's a matter of comparison.
The Lumia 1020 is a small 4.5" screen phone vs a phone that has over 1/3 more batter capacity in addition to a full 5.5" screen.

This phone is light for what it offers due to the magnesium alloy frame.

  • +2

If someone is crying about the weight of a phone at around 150g, they are pussy. lol

  • sent an email to t dimension asking about the rooting of colorOS to the cyanogenmod and it voids the warranty, just a heads up.

    • +1

They wouldn't know you flashed anything if you flash back ColorOS.
The One shows no permanent signs of rooting or flashing Roms, so I'd ignore that myself.

  • I just got my OnePlus One yesterday from eGlobal digital cameras which I heard is owned by the same ppl as DWI, but not sure.

They had a $20 dollar off voucher when I ordered so mine was $375 excluding shipping, but you still get $10 off if you order after midnight with their nightowl code.

edit: aww man just checked eglobal, they are selling for 369, so with that nightowl code itll be even cheaper :0

oh and eglobal's one is ColorOS as well, but flashing Cyanogen is relatively easy, just look up some how to vids on youtube.

    • Post a separate deal?

      • +1

just tried to see the total cost
using coupon "WB10" total is AU$395.38
        the code gives $10 off

    • On the eGlobal site, its states that they have both the ColorOS and CyanogenMod version.
Would it be safe to assume that the 'CyanogenMod' version is just the ColorOS but they've flashed CyanogenMod on it for you?
Or is it the actual CyanogenMod version (i.e with CyanogenMod label on the back of the device?

      • I would say that it's just the chinese version but with CyanogenMod installed for you, only the international versions(the invite ones) have the label on the back.

Any OPO no matter what version is amazing though :p

  • Any comment as to the device compares to HTC/SAM/AAPL headphone listening-wise /
Is using OTG DAC, the way to go?

  • Dead pixel :(

    • Unfortunate.
Have you found the 'faulty/dead pixel' clause in the warranty?
Even if the dead pixel on your screen is dark and positioned such that you can reckon a possibility of getting used to it (and as a result aren't planning the hassle of sending the phone back), others may want to know where they stand if in a similar, but maybe worse, situation.

If it's any slight consolation (yeah, I know, probably not), I've seen people who seem to have trained themselves to not even notice the major cracks and/or water-damage affecting their phone screens!

  • They have reduced the price to $387 on eBay today. Mighty tempting

  • Can anyone comment on the postage time for T-dimension or DWI. I've heard DWI ships fast so im thinking of buying from them.

    • Get it from eGlobal it's cheaper .

For me it took 5 business days from order to get to me.
When they dispatched it, it took 2 days

      • from eGlobal im getting shipping options that cost from $29-$58 is this the same for everyone else?

        • I remember my shipping + insurance cost $36.90

So overall it will be cheaper once you use the coupon code niteowl after it hits midnight i think it was.

Not sure if the other codes listed by OP are still usable. When I ordered from eGlobal I had $20 off

  • Got my OnePlus on color OS and flashed it with fastboot 30O cyanogenmod and calls drop often. No problems with my Nexus 5 before. Am on Telstra boost. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Unit covered on This Week in Tech had gestures needed to be turned off to stop device waking unintendedly in one's pocket. He'd also faulted the old back 'lit' buttons for being faint/invisible and arranged in an unusual order; I'd agree perhaps 5.5" phone could be designed shorter eliminating that fruitless function. Speakers loud, tho quality sub- HTC.

    Minor quirks.
Not too sure if a work in progress but keen to learn if should wait for Rev.One+2.
