We have noticed that BigW photo have been giving us 6 X 4 standard prints that look slightly out of focus (Compared to the sharpness that we have been used to). I have been getting clearer prints with my Canon photo printer using Canon Photo paper Glossy plus II, which had never been as good as the BigW Fuji finish before.
Maybe this is due to the changes you speak of, we had no idea, just thought that something else must be going wrong when we upload our photos to them.
Do you know who still use Wet-Labs by any chance?Been a while since we had any photos printed. Anyone know how Officeworks stacks up quality-wise?
AFAIK, most Harvey Norman stores still uses wet labs…
So far I only would know some Pro Labs which have decent equipment … but you pay far more. Officeworks is the same quality as BIGW … so is Teds … I saw once a wet lab at a Harvey Norman … but I would say it depends on store.
As mentioned before 1$ is still an awesome price … but don't expect the quality of a 20$ print :-)
Assuming Fujifilm Frontier is a wet lab (which I assume it is given the big containers of liquid they have standing beside them) Big W Melbourne CBD still uses a wet lab. Great quality prints. I agree that the dry labs, which are basically inkjet printers, look rubbish in comparison.
You're correct, Big W CBD still uses wet lab. I talked to one of the staff there, and she said she thinks they're the only one left. I guess it's just a matter of time before they convert over as well.
I've noticed poor quality photos from many friends' prints lately. Apart from the fact the source lens (ipad/iphone) is the size of a flea. The texture is all gappy/grainy. BigW is the closest. Maybe it's from there, not sure.
Application like it dried before it hit the paper, instead of a loaded wet roller… thick, gel-like coat I remember photos looking. (I RARELY print)
That's an awesome price though. Good to get mini posters for my kids learning printed up: 10 x 15 converts to 38cm x 25cm (for those who want to know)
just in time for the new baby :)
Just in time for me
FYI - the 10"x15" digital enlargement print is only available instore, not online.
Awesome Deal. The photo deal includes instant delivery (20 minutes). No need to wait till next day!
Unfortunately the BIGW prints are now now printed on different machines than last year (they changed all over … they had really great Wet-Labs … but they were difficult to calibrate and costly to run). The dry labs they have now don't produce the print quality anymore they used to have … :-(
$1 is still an impressive price for 10x15 inch
