Caught without a friend around? That's fine, take it anyways and give it to someone who is in need! Remember something is always better than nothing! :-)

    • +1

you can never have two much chatime yourself!

  • +1

So thats why there was a huge line there today!

    • pretty much the only time there will be a line there. Gong Cha on the other hand….

      • My partner is crazy about Chatime, not so much with Gong Cha…I myself don't drink it as much as I used to.

What's the difference between Gong Cha and Chatime?

What makes Gong Cha better than Chatime?

Is it because it's the newest craze or because their drink options are more plentiful/healthy?

        Thanks

        • Gong Cha's tea is actually more flavoursome and aromatic than Chatime's. You will notice the difference if you're a avid tea drinker.

But if Gong Cha wasn't around, I'd get Chatime over Easyway easily.

        • @Munki:
Only problem is goncha has very few locations and their customer support sucks

        • @Munki:

not to mention Hot Star is always next to Gong Cha, same owner I believe

        • well, as a Chinese, I prefer Chatime to Gong Cha. Chatime is more like 'normal' bubble tea in China. Gong Cha is too sweet to be a daily drinking tea. Gong Cha has gone too far.

Also, I tried plain tea from both of them. Chatime's tasted better than Gong Cha. (In Asia we don't add milk or sugar when drinking tea.) Next time you guys could try tea with no sugar. : )

So go for Chatime if you haven't tried both of them. But for those who love Gong Cha, I respect it coz its just personal preference.

        • @JPic:

You do know you can have as little sugar as you like, right?
You can even have it without sugar :)
Gong Cha's teas are just fuller bodied and more fragrant but i guess everyone have their own taste.

        • I prfer gong cha over chatime but maybe cos ive had too many chatimes before gongcha came along. I also rate sharetea though. Or can go easyway if i feel like something more artificial :)

        • I actually prefer Come Buy out of all of them. Pity there's only one store on Sussex st Sydney. I find their base tea is more flavoursome than Cha Time.

  • Here goes my sugar diet again :(

    • +2

Get a 25% sugar instead of standard?

      • Or no sugar.

        • And Zero ICE, you get more tea instead of ice!!! it's chilled tea and winter anyway. OZB FTW!

      • Half ice quarter sugar is my fav :)

  • I have never had one before, perhaps a good time to try. Can someone give me an idea how much, say, the Premium Pearl Milk tea will cost? I went to their website, it lists the menu, but not prices. Just a ballpark, I am not after the exact price. Also, this buy 1 get 1 free, do we have to get 2 of the same items, or simply pay for the more expensive item? Many thanks in advance.

    • +1

around $5 ish with topping included. You can get different ones

They will charge you the more expensive one plus another 50 cents if you add toping in the second free cup

      • Thanks Juventino.

        • +1

Regular milk tea: earl gray, asam, brown rice, jasmine are $4.30

Flavored milk tea: lychee, honeydew, Thai, etc are $4.70

You can add a topping for 60c or two for $1

          Upsize to large is 50c

Use their members card for points OR use your student ID card for a free upsize or topping.

        • Thanks for the detailed info. Appreciate it :-).
What is good to try for the 1st time?
Will that be the pearl milk tea - is that their signature item? Any recommended toppings?
          Thanks in advance.

          @bluesky:

They have a poster of their best sellers!

I would try their current special Thai milk tea with pearls!

A large with that ^ would cost $5.80 without a student card

        • Many thanks.

  • Chatime emphasise on freshly brewed with tea leaves. Others may use leaves or powder, I haven't see any other stores advertise their tea brewed from leaves.

The tea powder essence is very cheap, and a little goes a long way. It does not need hot boiling water to infuse, again cut cost on electricity bills. Just add warm water, ice sugars and artificial flavors, this is your tea, $5 thank you. This is the product that taste like crap and as mentioned above, artificial. I am not Matt Preston but try describing those cheap tea, its after taste is very dry??? and you actually feel thirstier.

Next, I bet most of BubbleTea fans already know, that the redtea you are drinking contains 3-4 times higher amount of caffeine than coffee. That's why you get insomnia!!! The added caffeine makes you want go back for it, almost hooked on drug. I can sleep with a cup of coffee but not with cheap bubble tea. However, I sleep fine with Chatime Assam Tea, funny its advertised as Mental Alertness, marketing BS.

No name stores might use powder. Gong Cha and the likes use real tea leaves. There is no need to advertise it. You can see the bags of tea leaves next to the counter when you order your Gong Cha :)

And Gong Cha disposes of the tea 4 hours after being concocted. Which happen very rarely since there are always queue in Melb CBD
