Hi OP. As a learner, please remember to include price & store in title. Thanks.

    And welcome to OB :)

    • +2

For those who read this before the title gets updated, the cost is about $32.50 from Centre com.

  • Free?

Also makes no mention whether it includes the required wireless adapter.

    • I'd like to know this as well…

      • Connectivity: Powered USB port

Yes, they do come with the USB adapter. I bought one of these a week ago for $39 from PCCG, so $32.50 is about as cheap as it gets.

    • I looked everywhere to see if a wireless adapter was included. No mention in any links.

and also include how many loom bands does it require for me to make this please

If you already have a few of these just buying the receiver is also good. Also you cannot turn off the controller without removing the batteries just keep that in mind so your not surprised when its flat next time you go to use it.
But all in all a great option for gaming on the PC

    • +2

They turn off them self with about 5 mins of not being used.

Not bad, but the postage kills it for me. I can go to my local PC store and buy it for $35.

  • Is it a freebie?

  • Good price for pickup but $14.55 delivery to Sydney kills the deal for me ($47.05). $44.39 delivered from IIbuy

  • Not a good deal postage will cost me $15 (Total $47.5 posted)
I can get it from local umart for $35 or megabuy $45.30 posted

  • Not a bad price but

Dual Shock 4's been under $55 AUD now, it's got a trackpad which is HANDY AS HELL if you're PC gaming on the TV and just need to click a damn pop up box from Steam on the screen - plus when (not if) you buy your PS4, you're gonna have 2 modern controllers then.

    • Except that using a DS4 means you would have to reconfigure every game to use your controller since it is not, by default, the supported controller?

      • LOL whut?
It's identical to a 360, it just works.

        • No it doesn't.
An Xbox 360 controller is the defacto standard for gamepads on PC. Using NFS Shift 2 as an example; I plug in a 360 controller, I launch game, it recognises the gamepad and all the keys are correctly assigned. If I do the same with the DS4 it has no idea what I have and I have to manually assign keys for each function. I would have to do the same for every game I own.

I could, as you suggest below, install software that makes my DS4 'pretend' to be a X360. I expect however that I would lose functionality eg the touchpad.

        • @CyberGenesys:

You clearly don't own a DS4 controller, do you?

        • @hamwhisperer: I do, and that example was one I attempted 10minutes before commenting.

        • -1

          @CyberGenesys: You're doing it wrong.

        • @hamwhisperer: Well gee thanks for clearing that up. Ever since you so clearly outlined what I was doing wrong I was able to fix it and now it works amazingly. /sarcasim

    • Did Sony release official drivers for DS4 on PC?

Or are you using some Xbox 360 gamepad emulator, that makes Steam think your DS4 is a 360 controller?

      • Google DXINPUT DS4 - drivers been out for ages.

        • +1

From what I see, it makes the DS4 emulate a 360 controller. But I'm not sure how you get the touchpad working like a poster above claimed.

Personally, I don't like the game giving 360 button prompts. I still don't remember what positions the four colours are and where ABXY is. Nintendo likes to reverse it, and the yellow, green, blue, red thing is confusing because many controllers have used it but swapped things around.

I wish Sony would do proper drivers.

  • Umart always sell them at $35.

  • +1

Do they sell any with the switchable d-pad? It beggars belief that no one testing the controller at MS found the d-pad unreliable.

  • Pretty good deal, thanks OP! I went and picked it up from the nearest Centrecom store. Better than paying for postage! And I've just discovered it works fine with Steam 'Big Screen' mode and a number of games on Steam which detect and 'auto-magically' configure themselves for the controller. :)
(EDIT: and yes, the package includes the USB receiver)

  • Shopping Express has extended the other deal they had $30 + postage (~$9) which may be cheaper if you can't pickup.
