Where did you get the description that this is the one that comes with the camera? It's not specified in the listing you linked to about anything with a TF reader or card inbuilt. The pictures do show it having the camera pod, but it may be empty.

It's possible that this doesn't come with the camera as comments on the rcgroups site you linked state that some do and some don't.

    • Syma X5C 2.4G 4-Channel QuadCopter (HD CAM)

and if you look down the bottom of the pics it clearly has the cam pod thingo on the bottom. guessing that all means its got the cam but i guess it would be good to get a confirmation

      • If anything that picture shows the only wires under the quad are for the LiPo to the flight controller, and that there are no wires powering the camera visible where we would expect to see them for powering a camera.

So I would say that this quad does not come with a camera for those considering purchasing it, until proven otherwise.

(Just trying to save someone from an impulse purchase that may be incorrectly advertised as having an inbuilt camera)

This $60.50USD version is the "Syma X5C" which has the added camera and cable connection. Since its direct from the manufacturers website there shouldn't be an issue with the specifications.

Syma also make the "Syma X5" base model without the camera (~$10-$15 cheaper). I don't know why it is no longer listed on the manufactures website but there are plenty of suppliers who have stock and sell the the base model Syma X5.

I can only assume that it might be buyer confusion where they ordered the X5 thinking they were ordering the X5C.

I copied and pasted the features off the following eBay listing:

      • OK.

        You should change your post.

Not only is the eBay one cheaper than the manufactures website that you linked to, but it also states in black and white that it does come with the camera, and seeing as you copied the information from the eBay listing, you should be linking to that.

Why pay 60+ USD and worry about it not coming with a camera when you can pay <59 AUD and get it with the camera no problems?

Thanks. It was my original intention to link to the eBay one but OzBargain has stricter guidelines relating to eBay sales.

"Items sold on eBay are often posted on OzBargain. These are the rules for eBay postings on OzBargain.
          - Must be BIN (Buy it Now). In other words, no auctions.
          - Overseas users will not be able to post eBay deals.
          - Must have a quantity of 10 available.
          - Non-reps / regular users are able to post deals only if the seller is a Top Rated Seller, or if the seller has an online store domain.
          - Reps from Australia can post deals as long as they have either an ABN or are a Top rated seller.
          "

Unfortunately the eBay seller isn't a eBay Top Rated Seller. I agree the pricing is better (and very temporary) and is why I rushed to put up this X5C post so that OzBargainers have the option. I'm pretty sure that the eBay seller is going to up the price very soon.

Its still buyer beware from eBay sellers but the official manufacturers website should be safe and is still lower than most eBay listings and all online stores.

Since the eBay ones are cheaper I'd have liked to refer OzBargainers to them but couldn't due to the guidelines so I was forced to do the second best option and link to the manufacturers website. I'm not advocating either way, just wanted to let people know about the recently lowered prices.

Just 1 day ago the eBay price was $63AUD (check the previously sold price).

So even yesterday, your price wasn't the cheapest available, hence not a 'bargain', and same goes today. Neither are local sellers so there's no advantage that way to your post.

You've posted up the 2nd cheapest option after a handful of eBay sellers. It's not the cheapest, therefore not a bargain, therefore my neg vote.

No probs. Understandable. Thanks for looking out for our OzBargainers.

  • whats your options on this vs the the vltoys v212 ???

    • The WLtoys V212 has been superseded by Wltoys V222. The WLToys V959 V222 is also a 4-channel 6-axis quadcopter. I haven't read much about the V212 except that the X5C and V222 are much more stable and newer (released only a couple of months ago).

If video quality is your thing then I'd recommend paying the extra $10-$15 for the V959 V222 instead of the Syma X5C. The V959 V222 records sharper video images using a lower resolution camera (640x480 @ 60fps). The angle of the camera can be adjusted easily. It has better stability, with and without camera attached. The transmitter range is further. Its smaller and has longer flight time.

The X5C's advantage is its cheaper. Larger in size which helps you to see and pilot at long distances. It can carry a heavier payload (eg. heavier battery, a 1080p keychain camera). The reviews describe the X5C as being very fun at acrobatics after shedding the camera, propeller guards and landing gear. The X5C is more affordably than the WLtoys V959 V222.

I chose the X5C because I'm a beginner and am expecting to crash a lot. So I'm mostly going to fly close to the ground to avoid destroying the quadcopter.
