$60- $70 off First Bill and $20- $25 for Every Bill Thereafter for 2 Yrs for Alinta Gas, Kleenheat

230

With the introduction of Kleenheat Gas into the WA market, Alinta is bound to lose some market share. To make sure the customer stays, they will offer you $60-70 off your next bill and $20-25 on every bill after that for 2 years. This is to beat the $50 joining credit and 10% off gas with Kleenheat.

How to get this deal - Call up Alinta customer service @ 13 13 58, tell them you're planning to switch to Kleenheat, and ask them if they are prepared to offer you any credit to stay with them. And then they will offer the above, depending on your usage.

The Kleenheat deal at the moment is here - http://www.kleenheatng.com.au/

You will save either way with Kleenheat or Alinta.

Cheers.

  • So kleenheat just as good ya? Charge etc, anyone can share experience? Gas charges doesn't seems to be higher after switching to kleenheat ?

    • +2

      it's regulated
it can only be lower or the same, not higher

    • My first bad experience with Kleenheat is got charged $8 because my credit card got stop (due to un-authorize item) on the same day Kleenheat draw out money. I can't notify Kleenheat on that day. And next 3 days Kleenheat try to draw money unsuccessful, again another $8 charged.

I didn't know those $8 charged until 3 months later, I phone them and try to explain but she said nothing she can do. I'm upset then I switch back to Alinta and they offer me $80 off first bill and $20off for every bill after that.

I don't care much about those $8 charged but the person on the phone (Kleenheat) is not nice.

      • +4

maybe next time you should read your credit card bill

  • I was thinking of switching, but it didnt seem (on paper) to make much difference.
    I guess 10% off would.

    • Either way, you would save. Because even when you sign up for Kleenheat, Alinta will give you a call to make sure you don't go.

    • 10% off is only for the usage rates, not for all the other charges that make up the total amount on the bill.

Every little bit counts :) will call them tomorrow to try

Thanks OP. I Will test this out tomorrow

I found out about this offer but i switched to kleenheat anyway. Atlinta should make this offer applicable to everyone not just the select few who call them and threaten to leave. Just like if there was decent competition to foxtel I would leave them as they do business the same way , If you quit foxtel they do your plan at halfprice.

    • +1

Wait, did you say if you threaten to quit foxtel because its too expensive they will give it to you at half price?
Ive actually been thinking of getting rid of it since its about $100 a month!

      • I think ugoagogo was being hypothetical.

That is if Netflix came online in Australia, Foxtel would bleed customers.

        • Nope. It's true. I have been doing it for more than a year now.

        • yep friends try to drop foxtel, even though they only get the basic package, and they're 'forced' to take new free set top box and half price for 6mths

I've heard of people rejected better and better offers up to 3 times, after that they cave in … they kept calling back

  • I was thinking of going to Kleenheat, so I phoned Alinta to give them an option of matching Kleenheat, there offer was $70.00 Off the first bill and $25.00 off the next 7 accounts. So I decided to stay with the devil..Pity we don't have the same competition with the power company's here in WA

    • +1

The "competition" is a bit of an illusion. We have some of the highest retail gas prices in the world here in WA.

      • But money saved is still money saved. Anything to get energy costs down now is better than nothing.

The population density in WA is the main cause for everything being really expensive here.

Thanks OP, you just prompted me out of my complacency and saved me some considerable coin.

I called alinta, and they gave me 15% off for the next 2 years, no contract!

    Thanks OP!

I must be just unlucky, I called Alinta early today, and they said that they cannot make an offer straight way, and that it could take them a couple of days to get back to me with an offer (As they are very busy).
Maybe they have been Ozbargained too much already :-)
They did say that if I wish to leave them that they can organise a disconnect to help? I spend about $1500 to $2000 a year with them, been with them since before it was called alinta (Secwa days) and never been in arrears. Reminds me of when I first left Telstra and they did not care to offer deals to existing customers, only wanting new ones (You can put Commbank into that same business model as well).
I had not really considered moving to Kleenheat until this posting, but after calling the "too busy line" at Alinta, I think it may just be the right time to leave em.
Thanks to the OP for waking me up.

    • That's a huge gas bill mate. You would save either way. They will contact you again the day before your final meter read to give you the offer based on your usage.

They called me 3-4 times to make sure I didn't leave Alinta.

But I swapped to Kleenheat just to make a point. If they want me back, put up another offer.

      • +1

You were right, they (Alinta) did call me back and offered $70 credit on my account right now (Well after the 10 day cooling of period), then $25 per invoice for 2 years, with no lock in contract, can leave at any time and do not have to pay anything back.
They say I am on a varied contract, but that everything remains the same except that you get credit on your account over the period. As you pointed out, the offer is available to all customers (You just have to either call them to say you are leaving, or try to leave)

  • +1

Call there bluff I am sure they would want to keep you

  • +1

Both my parent and friend were told they would call them back. Friend was offered $85 off their next bill and $30 credit off the next 7 bills. I am not sure what my parent got but will post when I found out.

Thanks OP on behalf of my friends and family!

  • kleenheat csr are abit dodgy - i cancelled the service after there $129 per bottle and ~$30 per bottle fee yearly was not giving me good service as they only serviced 1 day a week ( if gas did finish on a wed - no hot water till delivery date Friday for example)

i was also charged for the year ahead - the csr told me i must pay for the service im not using anyways - told her off how can you charge me for something im not going to use and wont be a customer? - finally after 10mins she understood what i was trying to tell her..

Just be wary of kleenheit gas as they will charge you $15 late payment fee also if you cancelled your card and forgot to update in their records… this they wont advice you.

Called yesterday and got $40 credit and $15 per bill. We don't use much gas so I'm happy with that.

  • Thanks just got the call back received $60 off 1st bill and $20 after that great as my gas bill is only about $70 -$80 per bill over the last year

  • I was told by the guy who signed me up for Kleenheat at the shopping mall if Alinta were to offer me a deal (to stay) let them know and they would beat it!

Just the other day I had a call from Alinta offering the $60 credit and $20 off each bill thereafter for 24 months, no lock in contact.

My question is, has anyone been back to Kleenheat to see what their final offer is and if so, how much better was it?
