3.5mm Quick Klick Smart Button + Coloured Storage Holder $0.96 Delivered from TinyDeal

622

$2.12 crazy high price, genuinely insane.
$1.27 Calling it now, RIP OFF!
$1.06 sheesh, still waaaay to high. Who posts these deals anyway?!? Idiot.
$0.96 OMG FINALLY!

If this is you then now is the time! Unless of course you want to wait longer, as it will probably come down.

Yes i know, has been as low as $0.44…. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149514 provided you're willing to forgo actually receiving your order.

NOTE 1: This is from Tinydeal, a few have reported that deliveries take a very long time and some have reported not receiving anything at all (my two deliveries took about 6 weeks). So before you decide to push the button, know that you’re taking a chance on not getting a button to push. Pay with CC (a no international fee one) if you would like the protection of charging back your 96c if the button does not arrive.

NOTE 2: do your research, doesn't work on all phones and in all situations straight away. May need some research on how to get it working with your device.

and credit to "grezgorzrulz" who actually picked this up first on the previous deal.

  • +4

My klik button from the $2.12 deal arrived last week, just short of 2 months delivery time. From the sounds of it they were backordered and fulfilled those at the same time as the $1.06 deal, not that they told anyone that.

    • +2

Yeah, some people reported getting the $1.06 not long after ordering. I ordered a powerbank the day i posted that deal, hasn't arrived yet.

      • +2

I haven't even received mine from the $1.06 deal yet, to be honest I had completely forgotten about it until I saw this post.

Edit: Well speak of the devil, just got mine from the letterbox.

        • Still haven't got mine either. 2 months on.

        • +1

Almost a month since I ordered and powerbank is nowhere in sight. No messages. Although they still send their promotion emails. Not happy

  • +1

    It's about damn time.

  • +1

Recommended. Especially those who do not use headphone often - this is because the button is a bit hard to be pulled out yet easily dropped and lost.

I got two but lost one while changing button/headphone plug.

Great little thing. I use it for three things: torch, camera, and calling (my work place number, which are not among the six numbers I have saved on my car's bluetooth)

    • +1

It muted audio on my tablet .. kept having to pull it out to watch a video .. eventually it flicked across the room as I struggled to pull it out .. din't bother to look to find where it went.

      • That's a good point, wouldn't it cause the phone to try and route audio through it and block the normal audio port?

      • +8

If it muted your device's audio, then it was either that you did not install the apk, or (if you did, then) you did not indicate that the thingy you inserted into that 3.5mm hole is either "Klick" or "Headphone".

You know, though the phone is called "smart phone", it is not smart enough to recognise the type of stick it is penetrated with … On the positive side, no lub is needed. LOL…

        • +1

Mine went wonky when I inserted it with the screen locked. when i unlocked the phone, the popup was there asking if I'd inserted a Klick or headphones. I chose Klick, but it still muted the audio.

When I took it out and reinserted it with the screen unlocked, and chose Klick, audio went to the phone's loudspeaker properly.

  • +1

I wish I had a use for one of these, because it's totally a cool idea.
What use is it? (no I'm being serious though) - anyone thought of a good use?
Would it work in an iphone? I assume that can't be reprogrammed though, only Android, right?

    • +1

Does not work on iPhone. The plug itself has no smarts. It just send a play/pause signal to your phone as if you had headphones plugged in with a button on their cord. The android-only software controls what the phone does when it gets such a signal (or multiple signals, in the case of double and triple click).

      • +1

That's what I figured. The popularity of this should convince manufacturers that they should have a few extra buttons on the phones, not less. This soft button thing drives me insane, I'm sticking with Samsung and their physical home button as long as possible.

  • i received in just 2 weeks. lucky, huh

  • +3

    nice one OP.

"sheesh, still waaaay to high. Who posts these deals anyway?!? Idiot."

If only it arrived, it wouldn't be so bad.

  • Ha, I literally just received mine from the $2.12 deal yesterday.

  • Been over a month and still no delivery. Ahh well only a couple of cents wasted.

  • +3

I want one, but I know the novelty will wear off quite quickly… hmm.

You can also get 5 for approx. $2.77 (~$0.56ea) at Aliexpress: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-lot-quick-button-smart-p…

I can't vouch for the quality, but I would assume they're all exactly the same. Handy if you want to buy one for each Android device in your house, or give them to friends.

    • I got tired of my power button pretty quickly

  • I bought this a couple of weeks ago and was fine for a couple of days till my phone updated to the new Kitkat 4.4.4 version. I used to be able to click and an app responses now clicks do nothing.

  • +1

Thanks, ordered one to test it if I ever receive.

  • I have not received the 8gb SD card yet.

  • Ordered one. Thanks.

  • +1

Funilly enough, mine arrived today from the last time this was posted.

So yeah, takes awhile, but it'll get there.

Sadly I can't get it to do the one thing I wanted it to, work as a camera button. It can open the app but that's not what I wanted. Ho hum.

    • Maybe press it again? ;p

    • Camera shutter is what I wanted, too. But turns out on my nexus 4 in the camera app, I can use the volume buttons now anyway. Not sure what version of android or the camera app that came in on.

I can set it to take a picture from a click without even opening the camera app. But it's a bit hit and miss, as you have no viewfinder and no way to know if you're focussed or what settings your camera is on.

  • theres a few apps in google play that supports klick… which one works best?

  • +3

You can get it cheaper with a pack of 3
    http://www.tinydeal.com/3-x-35mm-quick-button-smart-klick-ke…
works out to be $0.71 each.

    • and we have a winner - thanks

    • +1

I ordered 2 for $1.91. should have waited..

  • Still haven't received mine from the deal ~2 months ago :(

  • +1

    2 things.

I ordered from last time via tinydeal.

    1. they are junk items.

    2. Tinydeal are real rip-off merchants (sorry don't know the local aussie term for it!). paypal gave me my money back so not out of pocket, items went in the bin, neither worked and when plugged in, 1 stopped my handset's mic from working, requiring a nexus 5 factory reset.

Wouldn't buy from tinydeal no matter what the price.

    • +2

Mine works fine. HTC One M8.

  • +2

Bought one before. Threw it away once I saw that klick and other control apps need permissions to almost everything on the phone. No thank you.

    • +1

Are there other apps out there that work with less intrusive permissions?

      • +4

How would you expect it to work if it has no permissions?

It lets you take photos, send an SOS via text with your location, quick-dial a phone number from your contacts, start an audio recording, toggle settings like wifi… it needs a lot of permissions to be able to do all that.

        • I thought about that but honestly I don't see enough advantage in using this to risk all my stuff getting sent to who know where…

        • +2

          @luka:

What did you think you were buying and if you thought you were buying what this is how did you expect it to work without permissions?

        • +1

          @Diji1:

This is ozbargain. If it is cheap, buy it straight away and ask questions later :-)

I did not think of permissions when buying. Most of people won't and that's why I posted my comment above.

Only after receiving it I went to download the official app on Google Play and saw that it wants access to almost everything. Yes, the app needs permissions to do lots of things but I thought the list was excessive. I could be wrong but I was not the first person concerned about this.
And why should I trust the company who made the app? I never heard of them before.

So it was a no for me.

  • +2

Can I use this on my Mrs

    • +5

      Depends…does she have a 3.5mm input hole?

    • +14

It's 3.5mm, she might not be used to something that big.

      • I'm my country of origin you could be beheaded for that comment but I have to hand it to you mate, that was funny

      • +6

eneloop's Mrs is like a universal hub…takes all shapes and sizes (even one's made in China) and allows for multiple inputs at once. She doesn't discriminate, allowing almost any type (black or white) to enter her, with the exception of Thunderbolt as proprietary inputs are hard to copy. Better check her box though, make sure she is Plug and Play compatible.

        • +1

tat's some good geeky/sexist joke right there! lol

  • Should fall to 50cents sooner or later

    • +1

good thing you edited that. ;)

      • I hope it doesn't hurt him.

      • My original message? Oh you saw that… if you saw it might actually work with a 2.5mm hole, and an included adapter for 3.5mm headphones.

        • then they'd have to carry around a 2.5mm adaptor wherever they go… makes more sense to remove the button when they want to plug earphones in and store it in the included holder that attaches to the earphone cable.

        • yes but its been said its hard to remove the button.

The adapter can be left on headphone. How many people carry around multiple headphones? Still one needs to consider the sturdiness of a hollow 0.5mm thick round tubing.

Another possibility is a right-angled plug. The button will have to a bit taller, and wider the accommodate the plug. You just plug the headphones into the side of the clicky thing.

  • Works on the iPhone? Anyone?

  • +1

I don't really see the point of this device given that there's already methods of assigning functions to hardware buttons and it entails having a small doo-dad to lose anytime you want to use your devices headphone port along with having to remove it etc.

Of course everyone's situation is different but it seems to create too much inconvenience to me.

  • +1

For those who are wondering how it looks on an HTC One M8….

    it's quite ugly:

    http://i.imgur.com/T9qZzLz.png

  • Got mine from last deal within 2 weeks.

Works well with LG G2, use it for flashlight feature. But time to time the klick app prompts headphone or klick which gets very annoying.

  • Nah, it's not that bad. It is a button after all and I guess you will get used to it really quick.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it called a Klick Quick Button? Or are they two different brands?

  • I don't think you can make or receive calls. Your will not hear or be heard. Can this be confirmed pls.

    • +1

No issues calling or receiving calls on my LG G2

I am quite surprised that people would just install any apk without thinking about the security risks. Recently Chinese ROMs/Apps are under the radar for many such malwares. What if this is a trap to spy your phones :)

And here is a comment on the 'official' app from Google Play:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helloklick…

"Security Risk based on Norton Mobile Security 360 I posted this review to help the community & to force the app developers to be honest, improve their app and not to VIOLATE OUR PRIVACY. This app has "High Concern" flagged in red "Klick - Annoying Advertiser". Details of the RISK are: ((1. Puts ads on notification bar 2. Collects a list of running apps 3. Collects a list of installed apps 4. Collects SIM card details 5. Prompts to install other apps)) I hope no one falls to this and use your info. You may consider this SPYWARE/MALWARE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I wish I can attach the screenshot so you can see it. Hope this helps."

    • Do you believe that review 100%?

    • Collects a list of running/installed apps? Duh, how else will it know what it can launch when you're setting it up, or what to do when you press it? I haven't got any ads or any prompts to install other apps (but I am running an ad blocker).

    • I can't believe the above post is getting negative votes, I will probably get the same…

bobz79 is just trying to warn people to think before blindly installing apps.
Would you think twice about installing an exe that was attached to an email with subject like "sexy girls, open attachment"?

Norton Mobile 360 may give a false positive. Or it may not. You have been warned.

      • Warnings are fine. But they are negging the deal because they doesn't like the app and "suspect" it's reporting things to China. Not really a valid neg, probably why they are getting negged themselves.

  • I'm seeing the price of $5.33… Anyone else? Deal over?? Noooooo

    • that's showing for me too. looks like deal over :(

  • For those who use the Moto X, having this inserted will prevent the Touchless Control function from working properly.

  • Looks like all the prices are up over $5 now. Have found this one for $1.06. If you want one, and can deal with the extra 10cents then move quickly. Doesn't include the cable clip holder though.

    • +1

meh - don't think anyone should rush for this deal. it comes up pretty frequently.

rushing for extra 10c, waiting for 2 months, don't seem to worth the trouble

      • +1

I just got my $25 kickstarter "pressy" today, after backing it over 9 months ago. Woo.

I've been using my $2 "klick" button for a month or so already from a previous deal.

Much kickstarter regret on this one. Hopefully the official pressy app will be better than the klick app (downloading it now). Still unlikely to make it worth the extra $23 though (or extra $24 over this deal).

        • +1

Hopefully you can use the "pressy" app on this particular device.

  • +1

Mine has arrived from the $1.06 deal

  • Never received my previous order from these scammers.

    Tread lightly with these numpties

  • Try Headset Button Controller for an alternative app.
$2.99 on Play Store (pay with your credit from Google Option Rewards). There is a trial version as well to make sure it works with your phone. Use Pressy mode in settings.

  • -1

Wow, I received mine today. Looks and fits great on my OnePlus One!

  • +1

I also received today and fits well on Nexus 5 and Micromax. Ordered on 22 July and received on 6 August. Not bad.

  • got mine a couple of weeks ago. Now I finally thought to try it out, not happy about the app permissions so no go for me

  • received today, now can't get this thing to work. using galaxy s4 and Klick app

  • +1

Received mine yesterday. Tried the 'official' app and regret it. The app phoned home to 6 different Chinese IPs so I imagine there is plenty of device info now residing on their servers. Uninstalled that and hat tip to Jarr0d for his comment about this app that requires no permissions and seems to work well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ssworkshop…

  • When the Klick is in the headphone socket - I cannot hear or be heard during calls. Phone thinks headset is plugged in

    Galaxy S3

    Anyone else?

    • +2

You need to remove the button, install the klick app, then insert the button.

Your phone should then ask you what you just plugged in, a headset or a button. Choose button, and then it won't try and use it as a headset when you're on a call.

  • Ahhhh touche! Phone calls work now, thanks Salem

What delay works best for you when double - triple clicking?

The Klick button seems to control volume sporadically in addition to its preset commands.
