No, you are only insured for damage to third parties, fire, and theft. You may be able to make a claim for the medical expenses of the kangaroo.

    • In there policy they mark [ if the accident is not your fault and the other is not insured you are covert for 5000 dollars[ a kangoroo is not insured]

[ a kangoroo is not insured]

Are you sure? If it really isn't, go and sue it.

      • That part of the cover kicks in when you have someone you to recover money from.
I'm uncertain you'll be able to recover anything from a kangaroo as they're generally lazy and don't have jobs.

  • no, 3rd party fire theft covers 3 things

    • Damage to other peoples cars
    • Your vehicle if it explodes into flames
    • Your vehicle if it gets stolen

To get your car covered in incidents, you need comprehensive.

Just for future reference (compulsory, then least to most expensive)

CTP covers injury to the other parties
3rd party covers property damage to other people
3rd party covers property damage to other people & book value if your car is burnt/stolen
    Comprehensive covers everything*

*everything as defined by the policy

  • Some third party policies do provide a little cover as a bonus. Read your T&C or speak with your insurer.

    (btw… kangaroos don't hit cars)

    • (btw… kangaroos don't hit cars)

Why not? I googled it, and it seems that it does happen sometimes.

  • Unless a thief was driving at the time I think you are going to be out of pocket. At fault damage to your own vehicle is what Comprehensive Insurance is all about. You may have a case if you didn't understand the policy and thought you were getting comprehensive?

Just go find a Cash Price for the repair and you'll do better than $1700

This thread has great potential to be written up into a piece of TV comedy.

I'm thinking a Borat type character going into an INsurance office and asking about his accident and another few people in the line getting involved in the escapades.

Damn uninsured marsupials, someone needs to call Today Tonight or John Laws about them. ;-)
