Looking to build a $1000 gaming machine for modern 1080p games, any recommendations on what I can get for that price? (Case & parts only no monitor or peripherals).

    ethereal88:

    $899 nvidia titan z 3Gb
    $0.00 roadside pickup pc

    • you're assuming the freebie pc is A)actually in working condition, and B)if working is fast enough to keep up with Titan gpu! i personally have not come across any kerbside pc with i5 or better cpu, 8gb ram(4gb on a stretch) and 600W ps

    • he also would not approve of scrimshaw's build, no AMD parts allowed

Core i5 is piss weak, get i7 or preferably LGA2011 dual socketed motherboard with dual Xeon and 32GB RAM.

        • yes but i was talking about a pc thrown out on a kerbside for council pickup, if you found a free i5 pc i'm sure you wouldn't say no right?

  • Someone's sarcasm meter is on the fritz :/

  • Follow these build guides and you are guaranteed a decent PC for a decent price IMHO. Makes life much simpler.
