Penfolds Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz 2011 ($24.95 in Any 6 Bottles) Dan Murphys Online

80

Great deal for a Bin 28 if you buy in any 6. Apparently, it's Delivery Only but I was able to pick up in my nearest store.

This deal can also be combined with the Vintec Wine fridge promotion making an epic deal altogether.

=======

First made in 1959, Penfolds Kalimna Shiraz is an icon in the field of warm-climate Shiraz. Always ripe, robust and generously flavoured. The Bin 28 is named after the Kalimna vineyard that was purchased back in 1945 and from which the original fruit was sourced from. Today, the Bin 28 is a great example of the Penfolds dedication to multi-region, multi-vineyard blending. The Barossa Valley will always remain an integral part of the Bin 28 blend providing rich, vibrant primary fruit flavours.

Please note a limit of 24 bottles per customer

  • So did you order online and picked up at the store?

  • +1

You still need to pay $255 for the cabinet.

    • +1

      Yes, but that's bloody cheap.

  • In terms of the cheapest route to get the fridge, I wonder if there is any coupons floating around for winemarket which would combine with the Penfolds Winemakers Selection Shiraz Cabernet 2012 (12 bottles) for $99 http://www.winemarket.com.au/Penfolds-WS-shiraz-cab-2012
The tiger coupon has unfortunately expired.

Or I wonder if you buy 12 bottles whether you are eligible to claim 2 fridges?
If that were the case - split the winemarket deal with someone - ~50 each + ~$255 for fridge = $300 for fridge and 6 bottles of Penfolds Winemakers Selection

    Whereas with this deal..
    6 bottles at $24.95 ~ $150 + ~$255 for fridge ~ $400 for fridge and 6 bottles of Penfolds Kalimna
(I assume much better wine though).

    • I emailed penfolds regarding the winemakers selection and that is excluded from the promotion.

    • +1

So the coupon "FIRSTCLASS" from winemarket …

you could get something like ..

      Crabbies Cloudy Alcoholic Lemonade 24 x 330ml
Penfolds Winemakers Selection Shiraz Cabernet 2012 (12 bottles)

      Order Summary
      $159.01 Subtotal (incl GST)
      $-45.45454545 Promo Code Applied

FIRSTCLASS - Instant Rebate $45.45 Discount Total

      $15.99 Shipping
      = $124.99

    • I bought 12 bottles of Penfolds wine and want to make 2 claims, but I only have the one purchase receipt. How do I go about this?

You can use the purchase receipt to claim 2 Vintec wine cabinets as two separate orders. Upload the purchase receipt for both claims and pay $255 via credit card for each claim. Write your two claim order codes on the original purchase receipt and post to the reply paid details on the website.

  • good deal, combine with DMWEL0714 code for free delivery

  • just buy 6 x bottles of penfolds club tawny port @$9.49 each at Dan Murphys, per discussion in Vintec wine cabinet deal

  • Penfolds: they wine you give when you didn't give any wine….

if u are worried about 2011 being a stinker:

    Tyson Stelzer says: 96
In a flight of the forty finest vintages of Bin 28 since 1963 in the Rewards of Patience tasting last year, the trilogy of 2008, 2009 and 2010 was the highlight. If 2008 was defined by richness and 2009 by restraint, 2010 unites the best of both worlds in magnificent concentration, within a framework of elegant structure. Its colour is monumentally deep, jet black with a narrow, vibrant purple rim. The palate slowly uncoils to reveal tremendous depth of succulent black plum, blackberry and liquorice, with a crunchy vibrancy and an air of violet perfume that hovers from start to finish, framed in delightfully poised tannins of commanding structure yet ultra-fine restraint. For the record, Barossa Valley (51%), McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Wrattonbully and Robe, aged in seasoned American oak. “This wine would do any Bin 28 back to 1959 proud,” Gago declared. It certainly did that day.
    Best Drinking: 2020-2030

    James Halliday: 94

    Rob Geddes MW says: 91
Lovely expression of Barossan richness with freshness backed by quality oak, black fruits on the edge of jammy lushness but just holding back and an edge of date, pistachio and cashew oak spice. The full bodied palate is ripe and smooth and seems less bold, more middle palate centric and finer tannins than earlier editions at the same time, appealing mid palate plum and blackberry berry fruit and an oak driven finish when tasted in March 2013.

    Best Drinking: 2025

i don't know where you found 96 points from, this is his official website.

      Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz 2011, $40

A lesser Bin 28, a wine of apparent tannin structure and lively, cool season acidity, conspiring in a firm, slightly astringent finish. Already quite secondary in its development, meaty, gamey, spicy and savoury, with lingering flavours of pan juices and dried herbs, set against a backdrop of firm, fine tannins. A blend of McLaren Vale, Barossa and Adelaide, matured for 12 months in seasoned American oak. In spite of its name, only a tiny proportion of Kalimna vineyard fruit finds its way here, a confusing detail, particularly alongside the release of a true Kalimna Bin wine this year. Available 6 March 2014.

      Drink: 2016-2021

don't waste your money on 2011, spend a few more dollars on 2012

      • First choice liquor had the 2006 for sale at the same price. Was the 'museum' version. QUite interesting they still had it.

Not sure how the points rank up to 2011 but I got the 2006 given a quick in-store google search seemed to give greater points for 2006 over 2011.

        • i can't find the 2006 on the website, is it from your local store?

        • maybe. it was at first choice liquor riverton.

      • sorry must have been for 2010.

        2011 is a stinker!

        • yeh, 2010 is more likely for that score

    • The Penfolds Bin 28 2010 is on special in Chambers Cellars and sold for $25 per bottle. This is the one which scored 96 points from Tyson Stelzer as per the review in the crackawines.com.au.

  • Very tempting

  • Energy costs to run the wine fridge if you are interested …

  • Thanks. bought 12.

  • To clarify the vintec deal, this is the official list to stop speculation over what does and doesn't count towards the fridge. I note that if you were not bounded by conscience when I accidentally bought 7 instead of 6 bin series i returned one at first choice on the spot. Receipt was seperately issued for the refund. By that account you could buy 6, return 2 or 3 and still have the original receipt of 6 purchased for mailing in for verification. Obviously some ethical issues there and it only hit me after I got home how much you could rort the system if you really wanted…. The fridge at $255 is cheaper than RRP which, we bought for my gf last time from good guys is well over $500. Considering you get the wine that you buy, the decisions up to you…

    anyway…

Thank you for taking the time to contact the Penfolds Vintec Team.

To make a valid claim, you must purchase any 6 bottles of Penfolds Bin Series or Icon and Luxury Collection wines in one transaction, from one retailer and within the purchase period of 1 – 31 July, 2014.

    • That is the list of wines if you click help and read FAQ 2, however it has been verified by 2 people that their claim with Penfolds Winemaker's selection wines have been validated. The T&C's specifically state "excluding wine in the Thomas Hyland, Koonunga Hill or Rawson's Retreat ranges" and there is no mention of Winemaker's selection being excluded. It's contentious but the two who purchased Winemaker's selection and claimed have had their claim validated. Obviously a stuff up from Penfold's/TWE, they clearly don't want people buying the cheaper wine's as part of this marketing promotion and don't know what products of theirs is out in the market. I would say beware if you intend to go the Winemaker's selection route for claims however so far so good.

Just wanted to let peeps here know I bought the Winemaker's Selection Shiraz Cabernet 2011 from Cellarmasters like Melso last week, and my claimed got validated today! Great deal

      MELso on 15/07/2014 - 00:45
My claim has been validated too, so the Winemarket deal for 12 for $96 looks okay…

      • The exact text of my email was:

        "Hi [MELso],

Thank you for claiming your Penfolds Vintec wine cabinet. We are pleased to confirm that your claim has now been validated and delivery of your Vintec is now being organised.

Our fulfilment partners, Vintec Australia or M3 couriers will be in touch with you in the coming weeks to confirm the specific delivery date of your wine cabinet.
In the meantime if you have any questions relating to the delivery of your Vintec wine cabinet, please call 1800 428 256 or email [email protected] and quote claim number 100[xxxx].

        Kind regards,
        Penfolds Vintec Team"

To the doubters, I say so there… :-p

        • Good to hear everyones getting their claims validated.

My question though is is the winemakers selection being so much cheaper any good compared to the bin series… if not then i guess the question is do you pay closer to $150-160 if it means potentially nicer wine (since you're gonna have to drink it eventually assumably?).

Has anyone bought the cheap tawny and got it validated though?

GOt mine validated yesterday too btw :)

  • Showing $32.90 on the DM website.. No deal!

  • I can't see it coming up as $24.95. Is there a promocode that needs to be entered?
