Upto 20% Discount on Woolworths Car Insurance + $100 Wish Gift Card

591
wool20

Hi Guys..

Found this code lying around marked as expired on OZB. Gave it a try and it worked for me. It brought my premium down from $445 to $374. Thats good enough for a year's worth of insurance + I would get a $100 Wish Gift card.

Thats cheap for me. I got a Third Party property damage btw.

Note:- You would have to enter your everyday rewards card number for the promocode box to pop up. May be if u dont have one, ,you can use someone else's number.

Do comment with your experiences with the code. Have a happy and Insured Wednesday :)

sorry for the neg but I got quote from coles and came half this price, almost $1000! I could buy another car
this was ridiculous! even with the discount and giftcard.

  • I got a significant discount with Woolworths over my current insurer, NRMA.

NRMA renewal price for a 2001 Mitsubishi Verada is $848.XX
Agreed value of $6,500 and basic excess of $600
Standard car hire up to $65 for up to 21 days
Windscreen cover with no basic excess payable
    No kilometre limit

Woolworths 'Drive Less Pay Less' quote was for $387.XX - $100 gift voucher = $287.XX
Agreed value of $6,500 and basic excess of $600
No car hire included (which is not a big deal for me anyway as I have a backup car)
    No windscreen cover
5,000km limit per year (which is all that is required for this car)

So it looks like I've saved quite a bit. Thanks OP!

  • AAMI $885
    Coles $749
    RACV $733
    Progressive $592
Woolworths $445 … but I have to take a photo of my car with a shoe to qualify for the insurance!

    • Maxwell Smart FTW!

  • Good luck getting gift card from them. It has taken me about 5 e-mails and 3 phone calls, Gift card in 45 days is BS.

Unfortunately no gift card for the renewals, that's where they get their money back. For my other car Woolworths quoted me $475 for renewal, and as result had to switch to Coles for $323.

same thing happened to me in regard to the gift card…

I generally bunny hop from one insurance to another. Whoevers cheaper at the time…usual suspects are coles, woolies, real or budgetdirect.. takes an hour to do a bunch of online quotes

      • mine arrived without having to ask them. But it took 101 days.

  • 750 vs 500 with SGIO, must be my age (26)

  • Where does is say, you get $100 or $120 Gift Card. I am not able to see those details in website.

  • thanks OP awesome saving…

My policy ends mid August. Am I right in assuming that if I apply for WW insurance before 31 July for the policy to start mid August (w/monthly payment option) I should still be eligable for the giftcard and discount?

    • This offer is applied to policies purchased from 1 May 2014 and ends 31 July 2014.

Call them. you'll get a reliable answer. Dont assume things.

    • Hey olokun, I'm in the same boat. Were you able to give them a call? My policy with another insurer ends 22nd Aug. Wondering if I am eligible for the code + $100 gift card if I were to purchase it on the 23rd July, for the policy starting 23rd Aug 2014.

      • +1

When you fill out the online quote, as long as the starting date range goes up to the 23rd Aug, you're good to go. They won't charge your CC until the policy begins.

  • Nice! Just paid $214 to ensure my old 'bomb'. Net cost = $114. Coles quote was for $191. Thanks OP

  • Navigated all the requirements to get the insurance approved, only to find out right at the very end of the payment process that they will auto-rebill my credit card next year!

There is no way for them to make a one-off payment (like every other company), and the only payment options are auto-rebilled Credit Card or auto-redebited Direct Debit.

If you take out a Woolworths Insurance policy, the only way not to be auto-rebilled is to cancel the policy before/as it expires (which in my case would mean reading, paying attention to and actioning what is usually spam-snail-mail that I ignore).

    • yes but you can cancel it once it has been rebilled and you'll get your money back

    • They will send you a reminder Wolfy. I don't like the practice at all but it was a simple process to cancel and I guess it helps get around the perennial problem of people claiming they intended to renew but forgot. Iirc the cpourts have found in favour of some of these forgetful people when they've had a claim refused due to non-payment but have a continuous good record of renewal (which seems reasonable).

      • It seems more resonable to me to ignore all spam-type snail mail for a month or few, since all my other bills etc are electronic - there is nothing in my mail box that I ever want to read.

  • dont like for the fact that it will only insure my car for $12k when i can insure it for $15k through aami and racv, not worth losing 3k over $200

  • Code worked for me, saving of ~15% as I think 5% was already there, premium is half of what I was paying at Suncorp, without taking into account gift card. Wasn't aware of the $30.00 cancelation fee from Suncorp. I also got a quote from Coles who don't have it as cheap however they do have a price match promotion going on at the moment which might get me a lower premium. Let's hope that the gift card reaches me by then.

  • AAMI - $590 - Insured value just under $12K - AAMI was going to be $590 on my renewal notice.

WW - $306 - Insured value WW just under $9K was $306 with no under 25 drivers and no more than 14,000 Km per year These fixed Kms worth $40 less - only kicks in for under 15,000 Kms. I did it on the web with code 'woll20' but then rang to pay so as to confirm I'd still get the $100 card as no confirmation message appeared in the web process that the $100 card would be forthcoming. So WW policy was $306 AND as well I get the $100 card. I have since noticed that dropping excess from $700 to $500 would have only cost $10 more.

Try the Code "wool20" today, not working. It's matter with my reward card or it just expired?

  • Thanks heaps, OP. This code still works. I used it yesterday to get TPP. The discount was 14%, from $214 down to $184, plus a $120 Wish gift card. Great deal!

  • For me the quotes were coming out very close to my current YOUI renewal until I did the limited KM's option. Now under half on my renewal amount (saving around $500). I suspect this would be similar for anyone offering limited km's.

Code was still working too - offering a $120 gift card for me

    • Currently showing on my quote that this offer ends on the 30th September 2014

  • My premium reduced from $74 (coles) to $44 (woolworths)… Great value.. thanks

    Btw code 'wool20' works

  • before $488/y now with code $439/year
    10% but better than nothing

    thanks.

  • Did anyone who responded to this deal receive their $100 Wish Card? If so, how long did they take? I took out policy 27 July and still no sign of card!

    • we took the car and also home insurance with them 2 weeks ago, so expecting 2x$100, havent received yet

      • 2 weeks ago? has the deal been extended?

        • probably,. see my comment above. i got 10% with the code but thats because my premium is low.
and yes i saw that $100 card promo on the page when registering aswell

    • They say at least 45 days. Mine started July 25 and still nothing.

    • +1

Yep, got home just now to find a $120 Wish Gift Card in the mail! :)

  • Received mine today. 37 days since purchase.

    • Yep, 43 days for me since the date the policy started & I was actually charged the money for the premium. I was happy that even though I had purchased the policy pretty much on the day this was posted, they still did the right thing with billing dates.

No complaints from me, I'm basically ahead $120…when I cancelled my old policy, Budget Direct could only match the Woolies premium, they couldn't come down far enough to match the value of the gift card on top!
