    I notice it claims to be just Scientifically Proven, Not what that proof was. (Im not reading it to find out. I'm out for a nice healthy walk in the sun.) Many diets/ foods can be Scientifically Proven to be safe (won't kill you if taken in moderation), be helpful in certain illnesses, etc, but that does not mean they work for effective weight loss, & that weight loss is "permanent".

    Summary of recent "The Men who made us" fat/thin etc programs on SBS was none work for long term weight loss - Scientifically Proven.

      It's pretty simple to eat healthy / normally.

      Fruit + vegies + meat + some grains. Limit crap from a packet & eat treats occasionally.

      P.S. Get off your phone bruce you might walk into a tree :)

        ;-) Was sitting in the park on free WiFi, corrupting some friendly magpies with a (limited) raw beef diet.

    • Scientifically Proven - some blokes sit on a table and work out the proof on a sheet of paper.
      Clinically tested - some blokes got a mate to test it, (whether it works or not , it's still tested)

      at least that's how i read it.

    • Damn man, I need some eye bleach after seeing that.

      And yes, Keto for long periods of time probably isn't good for your uric acid levels.

      I'm on week 4 and counting, and I have lost roughly 1 kilo a week.

      Does keto work? Yeap. Is it for everyone? Probably not,.
      Is it healthy in the long run? Probably not either, keto diets are hard to get right and a little slip-ups here and there can cause issues (e.g malnutrition, constipation, unintended muscle loss and so on)

      But it's worth a shot if you want to lose some weight.

      • Hope you achieve your goal. It's just hard to maintain that lower weight. And that is what this book promises "Scientifically Proven: The Secret Guide to Permanent Weight Loss Using the Ketogenic Diet" - which is BS.

        I lose a consistent 1kg/wk on holiday in Japan, eating sashimi, walking mountain paths, & soaking in Onsen (natural hot spas). Every week at an Onsen, I weigh myself - after 5 weeks lost 5kg, 10 weeks 10kg. But returning home, the weight also returns :-(
        I understand the reason - in Japan, I am excited by the difference, learning every day, and eating less as I am more active exploring a country I love. And it's like being in love - it isn't likely to last long. Returning home, I lack the stimulation & reason to be as active everyday, and food replaces the passion (not that I eat much, & most is healthy).

        My only experience of serious dieting was to gain weight some years ago (from 42kg to 58kg, and finally 72kg). I could not gain weight, now I would like to keep it lower.

        • What is like dieting in the land of Japan? I would find it hard to resist not eating ramen and rice, both of which are staples of asian food… and I LOVE ramen and sushi rice.

          would you have to cook most of your meals to make sure its low carb?

        • Dieting had nothing to do with my weight loss on many trips to Japan.

          I ate everything that was put in front of me - from simple ramen, sashimi from fishermen who loved the sight of a Foreigner enjoying their fresh caught gift, to seal flipper on a remote island. I love the food, but missed simple steamed vegies. Even ate at MacDonalds & Mosburger, but still lost 1kg a week.

          Japanese people eat little at home, but share plenty with guests or on special occasions. Older people may leave the meal before feeling full - as Okinawans put it 70% full.

          So weight loss was due to increased activity, a small decrease of food intake, possibly elimination of some of my regular foods like dairy, possibly psychological state - very happy, and personal factors like genetics.

  • Weight loss from diets often involves muscle loss, which is unhealthy. From the SBS programs on weight loss - fit (which does not mean thin) is better. Unfortunately, the programs showed exercise is next to useless in weight loss (but would be great for fitness & psychological benefits).
