        • I dont see that option, my AMEX show payments in USD but the 28 degrees doesnt. I have not found a way to change it.

        • i have always been able to select USD ("use the currency from the transaction", or whatever) for my 28 degrees…you should contact Paypal and ask why.

        • Maybe because I have an AU bank account saved with Paypal? It keeps showing that as my first payment option by default, and I have to change it before making the payments.

        • no need to wait till next purchase, just log into paypal.com and have a fiddle around in the settings to set your choice as default.

        • me too, my AMEX card shows in USD but the 28 degrees defaults it to paypal converted AUD…. anyone know how to fix this?

  • I didn't get the email, maybe due to I only used it 5 or 6 times since I applied(3 years ago).. :(

They're probably trying to bump up numbers to look good to merchants, since they're about to gouge them Platinum fees.

    Disgusting.

  • Used my 28 D card OS >50 times last twelve months = no incentive offer :-( !!

    • Lol that's cause you don't need any convincing

    • Same. Use it for pretty much everything i buy online, and no offer. Though did get info about them upgrading me to the silly Platinum thing - would have preferred cash back offer if i were choosing.

  • Use my card regularly… haven't got any emails yet. Maybe its for people who don't use their card? :|

    • @ shadowarrior

Maybe… i have backed off my usage since the 1 Jan changes…

Plus use amex thru paypal :)

      • Thanks for this. That explains the erroneous charges on my account. I should really keep track of these changes. Applying for a Citibank card as we speak.

    • Yeah me too. I am already a regular user. So looks like this offer is targeted at non-users.

  • +2

I spend thousands every month on my 28 degrees card and haven't received any email yet.

    • Same here…

    • +1

      same

  • Spend $50 for $10 credit

  • 6x$10 email sent to me. I barely use this card since my other cards provide points and insurance etc. and even less incentive to use for cash withdrawals overseas since they introduced the fee on that. Anyway, will take this offer up since it's a low spend threshold.

  • +1

The only email from them today says Did you know you can use PayPass? No offer for me :(

  • got 6 here

  • Haven't received any email from 28 degrees. Looks like that it's targeted to the non frequent users.

  • i use mine heaps, about $2k on there ATM and no email :(

  • dammit.. I dont seem to have got the email - and used the card for the first time in 7months just last week to soak up the remaining credit on it to cancel it easier.

  • I haven't got the email yet, will I still be able to do this?

  • No email received here.

  • Wife got the email… 18 transactions required :|

  • +3

The message is simple , loyalty is nothing for them

  • has anyone called to confirm whether it's $10 per transaction or (strictly) more than $10 (ie. at least $10.01)?

    • i wouldn't bother being on the phone for 30 mins to clarify whether you need to spend an extra 12cents more or not.

      • it's not about the 12 cents (18 cents in my case), it's about asking the cashier to split the transaction into lots of $10.01 instead of $10. ;)

        • well u can ask the cashier to split the payments into $10.01 just to be sure :) save u waiting on the line to 28degrees, just so u can split it into $10 lots.

        • +1

my point is, cashier is more likely to be pissed off and say no if you ask for $10.01 rather than $10.

and in any case, i am asking if anyone has called to ask. if someone HAS called to ask, then i won't need to spend the time on the phone to clarify!

you wouldn't bother. i probably won't bother either…but if someone else has bothered, then great for everyone!

instead i have spent my 18 cents worth of time justifying myself to you…thanks! ;)

    • They seem to be quite specific so considering mine says "Simply spend $100 or more on 3 separate occasions by 31 July 2014" for me its >=$100 so if yours says "over $10" then its >=$10.01

    • +2

      Yes.
I have called 28 Degrees and they said exact $10 transaction was absolutely counted.

  • I hardly use this card and have yet to received an email on the promo from them.

  • Damn, normally don't use this card, but in the last 2 weeks have used it heaps for booking stuff…doubt I'll get the offer now…

  • How do you check the current exchange rate for this card?

  • I more than maxed out my card last month while on holidays overseas and didn't receive the offer :(
    They're definitely targeting infrequent users.

  • This looks like a targeted offer, move to forums?

  • I use mine monthly and got no email

  • I only receive an email about Shopper's Cover and Repayment Cover. :-)

    • With the Shopper's Protection Cover and Repayment Cover (0.5% of balance), is it true that you can avoid paying this if you pay the closing balance before the monthly statement is received?
If so, I guess that means you then don't get the cover?

      • +1

You will need to pay the day before your statement issues and you wont be paying any fee and still get the price protection.

  • 6 x $10 by 31 july. Used t use a lot but avnt touched the card for the past 6 months

  • I think we got one but mrs is saying "no email" #ninja

  • I have not received any emails at all. May be I am not a so valuable customer to them.

  • Where is my offer??????

  • Can I opt out of the Platinum card 'upgrade'?

  • +1

Hellooo $10.01 transactions at the myki machine each morning

For the record I got 12 transactions. Card usage is twice in June (total 800 bucks), once in May (80 bucks) and nothing until January (overseas trip)

    • Myki machines can't do cents…did two $11 this morning. That's my plan too! :)

      I've got 18 to do, so i might do 16x $11 and 2x $13 to round it out to $200 for a flat 10%.

      • Yeah realised that this morning.

Two transactions down, one in morning the other on the way home (walked home instead of getting picked up so noone waiting on me to use the machine)

I'll stick with $11 transactions, its bad enough I'm forgoing 5% cashback when using this offer!

  • +2

I use the card quite frequently and I didn't get an offer :(

    • Same. I actually use it to buy almost everything(groceries, petrol, overseas stuff) and then just pay it off at the end of month. Better the money being in my offset account for as long as possible. :P
They're probably only sending the email to people who probably won't benefit without changing their spending habits.

  • Got this offer of $20 credit if I make 6 transactions of $10 by end on July. Last time I used the card was 8 months ago.

  • I'm gonna fill up with $10.01 petrol for 6 days

    • +1

Better to keep an eye on petrol prices, and buy all 6 on one day when you think prices have bottomed out.

  • Best idea I have heard so far is to buy say Woolies Gift Cards in 12 separate transactions- would need to be $20 value to be over $10+ restriction but that is only $240 which is pretty much a fortnightly spend anyway.

    Any better ideas?

    • if you use public transport but don't have a yearly pass, then $11 myki top-ups (or whatever in your state) is a good option.

an expense you'll have to pay anyway, plus can do it all by yourself on the machine (without annoying checkout staff).

      • Can't see why it couldn't be done at self-serve checkout in separate transactions.

Don't have myki here in Brisbane but I don't use public transport anyway.

  • 12 for me.

  • +1

Didn't get the offer, looks like my card is coming out of my wallet and back into the draw. I have better cards to use domestically.

  • paid energy bill using "credit card by phone". lots of $11 transactions, got an sms from 28 degrees asking to confirm a few of them ;)

All sorted, waiting for my $20.

  • Went to 7-Eleven at lunch time today.

Topped up Myki with $10.05 and received the free cup of Hot Chocolate.

    • I thought the free Hot choc expired in June???

      • +1

I wasn't even aware of the offer until I was there.

I asked if the offer is valid and the cashier said yes.

This was at Freshwater Place in Melbourne

  • +1

I have called 28 Degrees. They said exact $10 transaction was absolutely counted.

  • anyone received their statement credits yet? I've done my six spends but have not received anything yet.

    • nope nothing yet. i did my 6 transactions on 10/7

    • +1

"Customers who make 6 or more transactions over $10 using 28 Degrees MasterCard between 1 July 2014 and 31 July 2014 will have a $20 credit applied to their account on their next statement."

So you need to wait for your next statement.

    • +2

My next statement has arrived without the $20 credit. I was told by phone that it will be credited by 15 August.

      • Good if they let us know prior.

        I might do a 7th transaction to be sure…

      • it's now the 15th and still no statement credits.

      • two statements have now come since I did the spend. NO credits!!

  • I went to Coles and bought a $180.18 gift card in 18 x $10.01 transactions so hopefully will get the $20 credit!

    • at self check out? do they mind?
I still hav another 7 transactions to go.
Was wondering if Coles would get pissed off.

      • I went to the service counter at Carindale, Brisbane and asked what the maximum number of 'split transactions' was and the girl told me there was no limit. I reached over to the gift cards stand and asked her to put through a $180.18 gift card in 18 separate transactions of $10.01. She looked a bit confused but I explained I would get ~11% discount on it by doing it this way due to a promo. By the end of the transaction, there were a couple of people behind me, probably smokers.

I'm guessing if you did it at self-serve, there wouldn't be too much issue in splitting transactions yourself (assuming it's not at peak hour).

  • feel little piss we force to pay off $60 first then get the $20 credit to use. would prefer to get the credit then just paid $40

    • +2

After 15th Aug and still no credit.

      • same

  • I see on their Facebook page it has now pushed back to the end of August.

    • +2

Someone asked them if they're having money problems. lol.

  • +1

I received my statement today and there were no credits.

  • Yep, I called and they said credited by 30 Aug

    • we wait i guess…better show up then!

  • SAME!!

  • Just checked my statement; credit appears dated 30/8.

  • Still haven't received my $20 credit, even though I've received my next statement…

    • Got it - but had to contact 28 degree fb page to chase it up and they asked for screenshot of email offer.
