Initially no, but they've patched it in. You'll be able to use the Wii U Pro Controller in most Wii U games but there are many exceptions, usually depending on the mode or playstyle. I'm not certain on whether you can use it for single player, i'd assume you can but there's no certainty, multiplayer is fine but just be aware that the gamepad is used as a suppport character and you will need a wiimote or Wii U Pro for every player in multiplayer. The Wii U pro controller is great, and is a great alternative to using the gamepad in long sessions , especially as it has a battery life of 80 hours before it needs to be charged again.
