MSY sell this exact cable for $17.

This cable is $19 + $7-10 postage. Not that worth it.

I guess this might be worth it if you live in Tasmania or something.

  • does it lose quality over such a huge distance??

HDMI cables are Digital, they can't lose quality, they either work or they don't.

This will work fine, you might have some trouble at 30M or more though.

Not all cables are created equal, and not every cable has the same bandwidth.
Have you ever heard of digital signal processing and distortion?
OK, if "HDMI cables are Digital, they can’t lose quality" why should they work for 10 M and not for 30M, as by your own admission "you might have some trouble at 30M or more though" ?

The signal strength gets attenuated over a certain distance of cable, and there is distortion, which gets more pronounced with distance. That is why, some good quality cables have repeaters…
Anyway, I am not going to say anymore - go ahead and buy what you want, because last time I said something similar it was voted negative.

EDIT: Just to substantiate what I am saying, please refer to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI , specifically the section "Cable length"

And yes, you can still vote negative to my comment like last time, so that people do not get educated, and the cheap cables are sold without any impediment.

I say they will work for 10M because I know plenty of people including myself that have used 10m HDMI cables from MSY without problems. This is at 1080p too.

If you have a problem with your HDMI cable from MSY, just return it.

When you have a choice of a $17 10m cable or a $50 2M cable, its pretty obvious which one you should buy.

  • Digital cable means it either works or doesnt.

I'm using 3 of these cables, daisy chained with 1 powered repeater on one end and it works fine. But I've read reports of some people running into trouble - my advice, if you're going 1080i you'd be fine but at 1080p without a strong output at the source you might run into problems.

Sorry didn't see MSY had the same thing cheaper. So yeah I agree not a good deal unless you are unable to get to a MSY store…
