The Paleo (or Paleolithic) Diet is a lifestyle based on the ancestral human diet. The Paleo Diet has been called many things: Caveman Diet, Primal, Real Food Diet, and I have even heard it called MVF, which stands for Meat-Vegetables-Fat. All these terms refer to basically the same way of eating—the eating habits of our hunter-and-gatherer Paleolithic ancestors who, if they were able to avoid illness (due to the lack of modern medicine), lived very long and healthy lives.

While we can’t know exactly what our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate, in principle, Paleo is about eating the same whole foods that were found in nature millions of years ago. These include foods that come from the land like meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds, and foods that come from open waters like fish and shellfish. These foods are nutrient-dense and are free from all those modern ingredients you can’t pronounce.

When we remove inflammatory foods from our diet—foods that were not part of our ancestors’ daily meals, such as wheat flour, industrial seed oils, sugar, and even supposedly healthy foods like grains, dairy, and soy—we reduce the risk of the most prevalent diseases of our civilization, such as heart disease, cancer, obesity, autoimmune diseases, and diabetes. Additionally (and best of all), we feel better, our energy levels rise, we look years younger, and we sleep better.

Somehow I have difficulty imagining that our stone age ancestors had access to those yummy ingredients mentioned above. :)

  • Are you tired of scouring the internet to find just the same old boring Paleo Recipes?
    THE BEST! TOP RATED! …

Promo sounds like one of those bad late night infomercials. Talk about spin without explanation!
And the ANSWER is No, never done that.

I don't even know what Paleo is (boring or not) or where to get it. How do I use it in my cooking?
Thought it was a disease, but apparently it's a "lifestyle". Enough said.

So it's the old Paleolithic diet as OP didn't explain it. Haven't heard about it since the 80s.

"A ranking by U.S. News & World Report, involving a panel of experts, evaluated based on factors including health, weight loss, and ease of following. In 2014, it tied for last place out of 32 with the Dukan Diet"

"according to S. Jay Olshansky and Bruce Carnes, "there is neither convincing evidence nor scientific logic to support the claim that adherence to a Paleolithic diet provides a longevity benefit." "

"According to the British Dietetic Association the diet excludes key food groups, raising the potential for nutritional deficiencies"

And I thought OzBargain was dedicated to the staple food groups of burgers, pizza & coke ;-)

    • Hi Bruce. Yep, you're totally correct. I just did the lazy thing and copy pasted the text straight from Amazon, so apologies. And thanks for the link and comments. I've since updated the post.

      • You are a TOP poster TA, so thanks for your great work. But I honestly had no idea what this deal was about, apart from 2 of my favourites - food & FREE. The book details assumed everyone knows what Paleo is. OzBargain is a broad church, and many won't know what is assumed knowledge by others. BUT you removed the best bit - all that over-the-top hype :-(
        So thanks.

Cheers bruce. I had no idea what it was either. If nothing more, this post has been the shortest Udemy course ever :)

Again, really appreciate the feedback. Have a lovely Sunday.

Aren't Udemy courses things we sign up for when free, knowing we probably will never start? You mean we were learning without enrolling in a course?!! I feel so dirty ;-)
