  Jdownloader is free and much better. The newer Jdownloader 2 BETA downloads 1080p YouTube videos flawlessley, even with the new DASH standards which recently got implemented and broke older downloading software (vidoes are now seperate audio/video streams, which have to be recombined once downloaded).

  Behond that, it has profiles to download off a heap of sites, and is constantly updated.
