Xiaomi Mi range mobile phones

Does anyone currently use Xiaomi Mi3 phones? How is it compared to the smartphones out there?
Seems like Xiaomi has hit the Asian market with the sub-$500 phones which are selling like hotcakes in Asian countries.

Xiaomi Mi3 @ $455 AUD is not cheap, when you consider the LG G2 sold for cheaper on Kogan? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148341

Singaporeans get the Mi3 for much cheaper at SG$339 (A$290) so we get hit with a rather hefty premium. The reason it sells like hotcakes is because in Asian countries the xiaomi is priced extremely aggressively. Here though, they're not going to move barely any stock because the prices are about in line with last years' flagship phones (LG G2, Nexus 5, XPeria Z, to name a few).

I would buy the Mi3 at $350 AUD but certainly not at $450+.

    • Is this $455 AUD for the 16GB? or the 64GB model? With the xiaomistore sale is this a decent price now, about $450'ish for the 64GB?

Otherwise is there no way for a cheap shipping/import from asia e.g. sg or msia?

I heard msia sells it, but not sure how's pricing?

  • Xiaomi is gaining huge traction in China at the moment - the problem I see with it is that it is VERY similar in appearance to the iphone. I believe once it is released outside of China, there will be legal issues.

    Otherwise, apparently very good phones.

    • Does it look like an iPhone?? Looks closer to a Nexus

  • xiaomistore.com.au is having a sale on Friday with the Mi3 available for $389 - https://www.facebook.com/events/756263707744998/

  • One of my friends has one, seems like a good phone, no complaints.

    • How's the battery life and actual specs from your friend? From a review on google they said it drops pretty quick?

It doesn't come with play store or normal OS apps right?
