Hi,
Has anyone used bookbay.org to download free books?
They have a textbook I need for uni on there & it can be downloaded as a compressed zip file.
I was wondering if anyone else has used this site & whether it is safe.
Thanks.

Note that a zip file is a substantially more likely way to get a virus.
I'm pretty brave about these things. If you want to post the URL of the file in question, I'll give it a go.
FWIW, I don't especially trust this site on first glimpse. There are a bunch of sites that run a script that scrape the web for media titles (DVDs, books etc.) then package malware (like search extensions such as squidoo) in a file name with the name of the media file you are after.
You click the media filename, accidentally install the malware and they collect the referral payments.
Shady.
I don't know whether bookbay is this type of site, but the listings of titles only make me suspicious.
Follow up: the zip files contain instructions to go to some other shady site to get a password to unpack the file. Sorry. This is a scam site - they don't really have your book.
Thank-you so much for all you help.
I think purchasing the book is the safest option.
It seems that this bookbay.org site has pdf copies of copyrighted books, that they are making available to anyone to download for free. I'll leave the question of whether that's right to your moral compass.
If by safe, you are asking whether you can get a computer virus or other malware through a pdf file, then the answer is yes, but it's unlikely. Read this http://www.enfocus.com/en/support/knowledge-base/can-a-pdf-d…
If you mean safe in some other way, please explain.
