I actually ordered the Asus monitor from Amazon over the weekend, the difference in price is ridiculous and the shipping cost is still a pain. Can't say if there'll be additional costs until later, but looking online, duty/GST are on imports over $1000.
If I hadn't settled for the ASUS, I would've considered the Samsung S24D590P, 1080p PLS Panel(Samsung's version of IPS) on a friend's recommendation and would've sat on the fence b/w it and the dell, as the Dell model seems to have lots of reviews racked up having been around for years not to mention 1920x1200(though I would've been good with 1080p as I wanted a 16:9 ratio for recording/streaming). I also noted ~700 reviews on amazon for the dell vs the asus's 300ish and 600ish on newegg.

27D590P has 2 HDMI ports, the S27D390H has 1 HDMI, can't really find much other information on the difference in P/PL designation at the end of 27D590, most places after an online check sell this at the 270ish price mark
Not too experienced with monitors (still using a old samsung) but the ASUS is 3D compatible and in comparison has a TN panel which typically = poorer colour reproduction, viewing angles, etc than IPS panels but better response time, reading online there's colour profiles to improve colour accuracy and a strobe light/lightboost that you can put on to eliminate motion blurring.
Personally, I was looking for a monitor with a higher refresh rate to take advantage of my desktop, (r9 290 and i5 4670k) in online fps, games like tf2 and cs:go but I end up falling back to playing guild wars 2.
