So, technically speaking, if this drive could achieve it's maximum theoretical transfer rate of 480mb/s, it would take you around 18 hours to copy 64GB of data to it. Then factor in the fact that real world performance is no where near the theoretical maximum and well, lets just say you'll have a whole lot of time on your hands whilst waiting for your transfer to finish… Food for thought :)

Are you sure it isn't minutes?

          (65536 MB / 60MB/S) / 60 seconds = 18.2 minutes

Oh snap, you're right! Arithmetic fail…how embarrassing!

Thanks for the correction though :)

I guess the point remains though that realistically it will take a fair amount of time (30+ minutes at the very best) for you to transfer data to and from this drive all in one go.

        • True. But its still a good little drive. Bang for buck its a nice deal.
Although, if your transferring 60gb of stuff in one go, I'm curious why you wouldn't use an external/portable hard drive?

        • I often need to transfer files between macs and PCs as we have both at work (and cant send through network), so USB is better than portable drives cos I dont know how to get a drive to be able to be read by both systems.
