Was looking for this deal Wii U Charging Cradle and Stand $11.50 Delivered at EB Games this morning and they didn't have any. Instead, I found this third party one (apparently an EB Games branded one) for $4, down from $20. It includes the GamePad charging stand, a Wii Remote rechargeable battery pack (which charges through the GamePad stand as well) and an integrated USB cable for charging a Wii U Pro Controller. Its power-through cable uses the power source to the Wii U console though it can't be placed too far away from it, which can be a deal-breaker for some. For only $4 with local warranty I wouldn't bother with eBay crap :)

    picked it up last week for 4 bucks when I got my wii u skylanders bundle, cheap and works, no problem.

    They've still got these and the official Nintendo cradles (says $25 on the box, but scans in at $9) at the Knox EB store.

    Got a basic WiiU.. Is it worth getting a charging cradle? Does the gamepad otherwise charge via a cord? (Haven't opened it. Not idea what the setup looks like haha)

      Yes it charges off the included cord in the basic pack plugged into 240v.

      Can you live without this, definitely. Is it worth paying more to get one in premium, no. Is it worth $4, yes. Just think where and how you will charge. If there's no spot to put this near your console then there's not much point. This has the added bonus of charging an included wiimote battery and have another cable to charge a pro controller all at once.

    picked one up in warringah mall, NSW. It is great as I only need one power plug to power all the console items instead of two. Recommended for $4
