Viano 32" LED HD TV $148.50 at Big W Limited Stocks

590

Edit: you may not be able to get a led TV but a LCD TV as per promoted link as it could be only available at specific big w stores

I got this Viano 32" HD DLED LCD TV (model: LTV32HD) for my parents as a second TV, mainly for it's media playback abilities via usb.
Funny thing is, the TV is not the one shown on the Big W web link, it actually looks exactly the same as this JVC model at Dick Smith ($289 there), just rebadged as a Viano.

See photo of the Viano Box: http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/31870/23200/viano_32_hd…

See Receipt attached: http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/31870/23216/viano_tv_re…

The JVC version plays the following media formats, so I'm hoping this Viano twin does the same (I am yet to try): mpeg, avi, ts, mkv, flv, wmv, asf, mp3, wav, jpg, txt

It is only 1366 x 768 resolution but that is fine for 32" TV at this price. The reviews on Big W site are pretty favourable.

I picked it up from Craigeburn (VIC) store, they had one more left, and apparently Sunshine (VIC) store had 3 left. Call your local to check for stock as these are clearnce items, Big W will not sell any more TV's in future.

Epping (VIC) store also had a 47" Full HD Viano for $298 but that may have sold out by now. Other stores may still have stock, so worth calling around if interested. Good luck !

Not sure why this was marked as expired, there is still stock at some stores, just need to ring around.

  • Pointless fact: Found her on alibaba too

Whoda thunk it's just a cheap OEM rebrand?

Anyway, my experience with these cheap TVs it that they're okay so long as you don't expect miracles from them, however I reckon it's worth the $148.50.

  • JVC is just a rebadged unit these days, so possibly same unit. Happy viewing ;-)

    • +1

It is easier to list the ones that are not rebrands these days :-)

  • Can this be wall mounted?

    • Yes, has the standard VESA mount points as per most new flat screen TV's.

  • +1

best price for a 32 inch hands down, better then Audi's recent deal of $219

    • +26

I thought they only sold cars!

      • I think shyen1 means 'Aldi' lol! Typo maybe hah!

    • Its $222

BEST thing is use it for 60 days "loan" and return it

      :-)

      • +1

Of course "faulty" Aldi products can be easily returned any time within warranty. Effectively 1 or more years loan or free upgrade to next model ;-)

But so much Aldi electronics is crap. That's a major reason for 60 day return policy. Bought a PVR on sale Wednesday - completely dead out of the box & none left in store - waste of 2 trips to Aldi.

        • I caved in and purchased the ALDI job

It pulls a stronger signal in the kitchen better than the Samsung that died, so for us that's a win

Picture is good quality, and lots of tweaking/adjustments if you can be bothered is offered

Will keep it for the world cup and then decide

        • +1

Second Aldi PVR failed last night, after 4 days!

  • Any 55inch or bigger tv's OP? Is there a list of TV's that you have at all so I can check with my local Big W?
The Televisions link on the Big W does not work anymore :P

    • The stores I called only had this 32" and the 47" that I mentioned in my post. Other stores may have bigger, but you will have to call around. Big W will not sell any more TV's once these are all sold.

      • +1

Big W still sells TVs but we only order in small amounts, usually we receive them as promotional stock now.
        Hope that helps. :)

  • +1

    1366x768, so not FHD.

    • +3

It's HD but not FHD. But it's only a 32" TV and you don't really need FHD for 32" and HD is adequate for that size.

      • Just commenting for comparisons sake. 90% of my library is 720p.

        • +6

          Haha, me too….YIFY ftw!

        • Can I just ask why you don't get the 1080p version when the price is both the same (i.e. $0) ?

      • True, yet some people "need" UHD on their phones, iDiots

  • I thought Big W wasn't selling TVs any more, or have they just cut back?

    • There aren't any TV's any more at my local Big W whereas for years there were TV's there. I'd say it's possible Big W is just clearing off TV's from what's left at stores.

      • +2

Big W and Kmart are very quickly turning into those el cheapo "chinese made" variety stores. The quality is going down hill fast. The product brand variety is being whittled away to just one inhouse brand. I dont see a great future for these guys… internet killed the department store.

      • Close but no cigar, we now receive TVs occasionally as promotional stock but we no longer have a wide range to chose from. So we do sell TV's just not as often.

  • That's a great price, but how are these TVs compared to JBs Soniq?

  • How are the viewing angles? OK color?

  • Interesting, on the website, it says LCD and on the box, it says dled. The power consumption rating seems to be for a lcd TV. Could it be wrong model given? Here is their current model.

    http://vianotv.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypa…

Where possible, can op please post the receipt?

    • It's probably LCD with LED backlight.

      • On the big w website, its definitely a LCD model. Check the below link for specs.

        http://vianotv.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypa…

        • Ahhhh an old LCD model stock. As i said Big W clearing off their existing old stock. Maybe getting out of the TV selling business?. TV's haven't been sold at my local Big W store in some time.

      • Holly is correct it is LCD with DLED backlight.

  • I find it curious that when you click on the link to Televisions on the Big W website it automatically redirects back to the main electronics page. Can't even get to the televisions page. I'm thinking Big W has shut it down. Sign that Big W is completely getting out of the TV selling business?. So there might not be much stock or if at all for this TV around the country at stores that even have any TV's left. Low stock status for this TV on the Big W store stock checker probably actually really means no stock.

  • Lets hope I can find this tomorrow.

    • Good luck.

Although if you're in Perth as your details say the Riverton and Midland Gate stores are showing as in stock.

    • that cant be right…

      …and money grows on trees.
What planet do you live on anyway?

    • +1

I think you must be mistaking them for old SD CRT TV's.

Any way what's a full had tv :P

  • Expired? Saw minimal stock levels last night. Now, "Currently unavailable online and in store."

    • Stock indicator updates itself over night. Probably there was no stock to begin with.

The link to televisions on the Big W web site only automatically redirects to the main electronics page. It's all over Big W is no longer selling TV's.

      • +1

There was/is stock at some stores as I and several others have managed to get one in the last couple of days. You just need to call a few of your local stores to check….some bargains require a bit of effort :)
Agreed Big W will no longer be selling TV's after these are all gone, that is why they are going so cheap.

I have the 1080p version of this TV and after hooking up an energy meter at home I found out it uses 10w of power on standby. When I add up all the times I turn it off at the wall its a real pain. 10w is a fair amount of bleed per week 1.68kw. Around 45c a week, $23 a year. Its good when its on at 50w but theres no backlight control and the remote is very dodgy. Use it for four years and what you spend on power you could have got something decent that meets a decent standy draw.

    • I have a feeling that is why they placed an easy power-switch button at the button. Its well thought (for its price), but not convenient.

  • I bought this one at $199 (still a good price, I think) but I just can't seem to fix the settings so the picture isn't either fuzzy or jagged.

  • They have stock here in Gympie, QLD. About 4 left.

Not sure why this was marked as expired, there is still stock at some stores, just need to ring around…..

  • See Receipt attached: http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/31870/23216/viano_tv_re…

After 4 years on Ozbargain, this is my first post to reach 50 positive votes….woohoo, thanks guys !!

Just got one for mum's bedroom, thanks. Initial impressions: excellent value for price. They were quite impressed to see playback off USB.

    • +1

Hey I got one for my parents bedroom as well and I find that putting the picture quality settings to soft is much more bearable in the dark as it is much less piercing for the eyes (since soft uses warmer tones) than set on vivid (blue tones). The noise is less noticeable as well. Just a tip for all.

  • Why are Big W exiting the TV market? Seems strange.

  • Great, got one and for $150 I can't really complain. However, just a reminder that there is no digital tuner so you will need a separate set-top box. Very impressed that they gave us 3x HDMI inputs. Thanks OP.

    • It has HD tuner.

    • Really? I'm currently watching DTV out of the box. No analog TV here in Perth.

      EDIT: What PissLUR said.

    • Hey ironplus, what model is yours? Mine definitely has a digital tuner. In fact, it states "HD Tuner" on the box…. they haven't made consumer TV's without digital tuner for at least 5 years….

      • Oh go figure, first time I scanned it, it could only find one channel and that was the local 44 Adelaide so I assumed that it needed a Set top box (without really thinking and looking at the box) but just scanned again and found every other channel (might have something to do with having to use an external antenna). Thanks guys for clearing the confusion.

        • Wait, so they actually have digital TV in SA? Progress is wonderful ;)

        • Yes we do…looks great on our black & white mono sound tv's…:P

        • Better than cavemen like us in WA postmen don't know where to deliver our parcels and that is why shipping costs to WA are ridiculously expensive.

  • Really good price for the size of screen. Only downside is the resoultion. Good deal though.

  • Called Epping, Broadmeadows and Craigieburn BigW
None of them got stock for any sizes

  • one left at Rouse Hill NSW

  • I picked up a 37" HD LED TV from Chullora (NSW) at 11am this morning for $223.50 - thanks Op. There was still one left at that time.

The same units are selling as EX DEMO on Deals Direct for $239.
    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/viano-37-94cm-hd-lcd-tv-ex-dem…

    • woops LCD…

      • Well done Qroozn, I was after the 37" too but no stock so I took the 32" anyway.

  • I have today tested the media playback via usb, and pretty impressed. I plugged in a 500gb Seagate portable hard drive and it played back pretty much every file format: avi, mp4, mkv, m4v all worked fine for both 720p and 1080p videos. The only issue I saw was an mkv fle with DTS sound, it played the video fine, but no sound.

Speaking of sound, the sound output of the TV is very tinny….would definitely suggest hooking up a pair of cheap PC speakers. I have some old Logitech 2.1's that I plugged in via the headphone socket and the sound was MUCH better.

Picture quality is definitely ok for the price, especially after some fine tuning (I lowered brightness and colour to get a more realistic looking picture). Not as good as the big brands, but more than acceptable for this price range. Channels change pretty quick for a cheap TV and it has optical out for hooking up to a sound bar or all-in-one sound system. The remote is well laid out and works fine, but you have to point straight at the TV. The EPG works ok, but it is rather annoying as the when you try scroll up and down to see what is playing on the various channels it actually changes the channel.

All in all, definitely a bargain TV for less than $150.
