    Hahahahaha, well done!!

  • LOL they will never qualify hahahaha.

  • +1

    Chile, Netherlands and Spain.

    3 Games - 3 Losses.
    No chance of qualifying. LoL.

  • oh well… finger crossed and pray hard… hahaha…

  • +7

Not really a bargain, more of a gamble even if it's a bad one..

  • Wont beat Spain, a small chance against Von-Dutch, and equal level to Chile

But yeah dont see how they will qualify to the next round, got a very tough draw, but thats the world cup, you play the best no easy route

Good marketing by the dude anyway!

    • +1

No way man. I saw an article yesterday evaluating the market value of players and teams, and our entire team is worth less money than Iniesta alone. Chile have a few players like Vidal worth about our entire team also.

      http://www.news.com.au/sport/football/who-would-win-the-2014…

We're also the lowest ranked team. I would ecstatic if we didn't finish 4th place. I don't expect any wins. At best a draw or two. We'd be playing for pride, not qualification.

These guys don't have to refund anything.

    • +7

Equal level to Chile…Lol what world are you living in.

    • +1

Equal level with Chile? That is madness. 3 goal margin in all games, the Spanish and Dutch will hammer us by quite a bit more.

    • You don't really watch soccer, do you? Do you realize Chile has Arturo Vidal & Alexis Sanchez? Equal level to Chile would mean Australia have a very good chance to qualify if it was for other groups.

      • I took 'and equal level to Chile' to refer to the preceding comment. In other words he meant 'Australia has the same chance of beating Chile as they do of beating the Dutch' ie very small.
It couldn't mean anything else and it certainly couldn't mean the Aussies are at the same level as the Chileans unless the writer was crazy.

        • The only thing we're equal to them on is the number of players we have on the squad.

I think Spain finishes first place, but who is second I can't call. I'd say that's a 50/50. We're almost certainly going to be last place.

        • The B-cam is right; although it was not well-worded, you can tell from the tone of the comment that the writer meant that our chances against Chili are ~the same as our chances against the Dutch. Very small.

  • Going by the odds on betfair ($14), Australia has about a 7% chance of qualifying.

    • -4

The payout is only about 1/2 of the true odds. If they are paying at 14:1 then the odds of qualifying are closer to 28:1 or less than 4%

      • No, betfair is an exchange. $14 is very close to true odds.

        • I will take your bet

        • OK well they take 20% commision
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betfair

So that works out at 5.7% true chance at qualifying

        • +1

5% commission for the vast majority of users. But this doesn't affect the odds anyway. Yes it affects the return if you place a bet, but not the odds.

    • Better off putting on a bet with betfair - they are offering 14/1 instead of 2/1

      • -2

Erm, but you don't get to keep the goods you bought if you bet with betfair and Australia loses; cause there aren't any…
I agree with the above post, it's clever marketing.
But what is "… qualifies from group B" supposed to mean? It is not correct English. Do they mean "gets into group B", or do they actually mean "qualifies for (i.e. gets into) group A"?
I know nothing about soccer, so I don't automatically know what their incorrect English is supposed to mean, but all you soccer-dudes evidently do… please enlighten me.

        • I understand soccer and it is a pretty bad way of phrasing it. Instead of "qualify from" I think "advances past" or "reaches the knockout stage" or even "finished top two in group b" makes more sense.

          But still not gonna happen.

        • +3

"qualify from" makes sense to me.

        • "qualify from group b" makes sense to me.

"if Australia qualify from group B" does not makes sense to me

        • Thanks Dorka, that clarifies it nicely for me.

  • I like the clever idea but not a bargain.

    • I don't reckon Kwidjers deserves any negs for this comment, because he/she is right. Like the hippo said in an above comment (with no negs?!): "Not really a bargain, more of a gamble…".

    • Looks like the mods agreed. Thanks for the negs though because I very much enjoy knowing that "I was right and you were wrong" :p

      • Thats what I keep saying to myself!!

  • Wow, anyone who knows Australia Consumer Laws are the winner.

    • Why? If you buy and the Aussies don't qualify, that is hardly a major defect with the product.

      • Perhaps Gav is alluding to the fact that under Australian law, a business that does not have a gambling license cannot legally make a paid bet with you. However, even if you bought a heap of stuff then Australia lost, I reckon to get all your money back, you'd still need to return the goods; thus defeating the purpose of the otherwise "cunning ruse"…

  • similar to the carlton making the grand final and everyone gets a free mars bar deal last year.

    just aint gonna happen.

remember whoever is 2nd in this group then likely faces brazil in the next round.

all 3 will be fighting for top.

    • +1

Maybe we can get through if a Bradbury happens?
      Can that happen in soccer?

      • I suppose if one of our boys kicks it at the head of the goalie, it deflects onto a defenders face , disorientated he falls over a teammate and takes him down, leaving a clear path to goal for Timmy Cahill …

        Spain = 4-0 atleast
        Netherlands 3-1
        Chile 2-1, 2-2

Good for morale, but like klinnsman with the US it's not gonna happen

        • -1

I assume the numbers you are using are win/loss since they can't be points (since Spain should win at least 7 or so, Chile and Netherlands 4 or so, and Australia probably 0).
Firstly I find it strange that you anticipate 0 draws but let's go with that.
It still means that you think that in a four team pool where each team plays each other team once, somehow there can be 4 matches.
Now I know very little about soccer but I struggle to see how that could happen…???
Perhaps someone could explain it to me.

        • +2

He is referring to the final score against Australia.

        • +1

Oh, so you believe he is saying that we will score 1 goal against the Dutch, and 1 or 2 goals against Chile??? You think he's saying we are a chance to tie with Chile?
I'd be happy to see that happen since I think we would be lucky to score one goal in the whole tournament.

        • I think you are being overly optimistic about Australia drawing with Chile (they qualified 3rd below Colombia (2pts) and Argentina (3pts), in the South American qualifiers). I hope Australia does well, but I don't see much hope TBH.

        • A little, but that tells me if Brazil weren't hosting chile would of qualified fourth..

        • I was pretty close looks to the sky

        • +1

What did I tell you…Lol. Does it make it bias if I'm Chilean ;)

  • If Australia qualify from Group B in the FIFA World Cup in 2014

As the conditions of getting this 'deal' is not guaranteed, this has been moved to forums.

    • As the conditions of getting this 'deal' is not guaranteed

      Or even remotely likely :p

      • I was trying to be positive :)

  • I think this might be a deal if it was "if Australia gain a single point/draw".
Clearly they either think this is footy, and Aus are good, or know the deal has next to 0 chance of happening.

Not a troll post. It hurts to say that as a fan. But this group is nuts.
Do not underestimate chile, esp in the SA conditions. I expect them to match if not beat the Dutch for this reason.
With the intensity they play at, we'll be doing well to not concede more than one goal by halftime.

    • Yeah, I think they are only offering this 'deal' because they know there is virtually zero chance of having to pay out on it.

  • WELL NOT BY MILLION CHANCE THEN …

  • I don't need a Tuxedo suit. so… doesn't matter how Socceroos do in Group B

  • +1

    stupidest deal ever

  • "The conditions of the special discount offer are governed by the law of England and Wales. MyTuxedo is a trading name of Global Tailor Limited, Unit 4-5 Park View Industrial Estate, Alder Close, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN23 6QE, England"

Uhm, I thought it was an Aussie company… Maybe a bit of sacarsm here, from England

    • +3

I don't know why. England have approximately the same chance of getting out of the group stage.

  • This should be under comps.

  • this store owner is a gambler

    • It's not gambling if you expect a return.

  • maybe they will get disqualified or do some political protest where they lose on purpose

or maybe they tank some later games Australia play

    or rig games to lose!

    i.e fat chance

  • +1

well they didnt qualify. to be expected, but good work on their efforts in the world cup.
