  • i'd rather use mebank or ING direct pay pass to buy instore then buying online and waiting for delivery. Plus you can only buy from $100 to $500 online, not eveybody wants to buy $100 gift card.

for those who doesn't have ING or mebank (people on OzB rarely don't have one of them) it is better than nothing. thanks for the post though

    • Only good for 6 months.

This is far better than nothing. You just have a poor imagination kishors.

    • I agree the pay pass is a better deal overall , but the wish giftcards isnt so bad either

1/ Typically people will buy groceries and petrol so $100 is not much, personally i can go through a $100 giftcard within 1.5-2 weeks. (1 petrol fill up and 1-2 grocery shops)
2/ I can use my amex to buy wish giftcards at the beginning of my credit card cycle and have 55 days to pay it. The money from ING/ME bank comes from a savings account as i understand it, so i'd rather my $100 sit in my offset account until i have to pay it.

as i said - i think ING/ME bank deal is better overall because its not limited to woolies (5% off EVERYTHING), but when it comes down to it .. 5% is good either way!!

I have used this for two years, don't know why it comes here so late.

It is better than ING, because:
1, most people here have used up their 6 months period.
2, with giftcard purchase online, you can pay by Amex cards, most likely give you another 1% off by award.
3, you can buy large items like a TV from DS.

  • The NRMA link actually points to RACQ. Do you have a link for NRMA members? I've tried searching but couldn't find any. Cheers.

    • NRMA is not listed here either

      https://www.membergiftcards.com.au/view.aspx

Do not seem to be part of the offer.

    • NRMA may work if you just try to put in your member number. Worked with RAA.

      • confirmed!

      • Don't think it will work:

        https://www.membergiftcards.com.au/racq/home

To take advantage of this members benefit:

Valid RACQ members Click the 'Shop Now' link below
Register using your membership card number
Invalid registrations will result in order not being processed and refunded within 21 days.

        • Oh really? Thanks we will need someone to confirm this then, it accepted my RAA card number so thought it was good to go.

        • Could you please confirm it for us by ordering a gift card? :P

Nothing to lose, as you will receive a refund if not eligible…

        • Alright will get a $50 one tonight.

Good deal! Saves me buying the entertainment book this year as Coles giftcards are removed anyway. This is actually better than the 5% cash back as I pay for these giftcards with Amex, 3 points per dollar, and I get the 5% discount.

    • is this with a bank issued amex card, or a amex direct card?

      • Amex direct card, namely the Amex edge platinum.

    • How do you get 3 points per $ for purchases from the RACQ? They are not listed as a Bonus partner?

      • +1

When you purchase these giftcards from the Wish website, Amex recognises it as supermarket purchase hence 3 points per dollar on the Amex edge platinum.

        • Thanks for the heads up.

  • How much is postage?

    • +1

      Free

  • Haven't used these before - just to clarify if you have say a $100 card and spend $60 the card just holds the remaining $40 balance ?

    • Yes that's correct!

      • but they get stroppy if you dont know the balance on the card as they allot the value before you swipe.

        • Haha yes so true! You get some nice check out chicks who are happy to check. If I know I'm close I just say put a $1 in and then we'll see how much is left.

        • check on http://everydaygiftcards.com.au/ before you go to the shop

  • For those that are interested, I'm an RAA member and you can also get them just sign into the RACQ link with your RAA member number and it still works.

Free registered post means I don't need to go down to the local RAA outlet.

    Win win!

  • I don't think these cards can be used at dick smithys anymore?

    • +1

Worked last month when I bought a projector

This is great. Theres an RACV store at the local shopping centre, but its all the way down the other end. Literally takes me longer to walk there from inside the shopping centre than it does to drive to the shopping centre from my house.
Only downside is I won't be able to make suggestions anymore. Every time I'm there I ask them when they're getting a paywave machine.

    • I buy these regularly (wish giftcards thru entertainment book).
I've checked the wish giftcard i've got on me now and it does work at DSE

It has these labels at the back:
      Woolworths supermarket
      Dick Smith
      Caltex/Woolworths
      Big W
      Masters Home improvement
      BWS
      Dan Murphys
      Thomas Dux

  • I use this for petrol, groceries, electrical. You can buy the Wish card with your favor credit card for additional rewards. Last month, we just bought a Dyson 54 Allergy for $620 after price match at Masters with these cards. That is $589 after 5% Wish card off.

The only complain I have is that it takes slightly more than a week to arrive and we have to pick it up from the post office or someone need to be home (registered post). If you spot a deal you want to get, it would be too late to buy the Wish card to catch the deal unless you have enough balance at hand.

After all, with all those trouble, if your total spend on the above shops is $3000 a year, it will save you a total of $150. If that is worth the trouble? It is your call.

  • I use these for years, very good for fuel and groceries, as well as Dickie SickSmith when they are not crazy like now, back then I usually grabbed Apple computers for at least 15-20% OFF then after a whole year of using, sell them for more than 90% of what you paid for ;)

  • if i am not a member of any of these.. is there any way i can buy these?

    • You can buy an entertainment book - you will need to work out if it is worthwhile for you.
The Sydney/North Sydney (combined) books retail for $70 but you also get loads of other discounts (eg fine dining, casual dining, attractions and events etc).

Theres a heap of users selling them on ozbargain

If you join a company that's associated with Affinity Alliance you can get 12% off Wish cards and 5% off Coles cards. There will be a joining fee that offsets any savings in that case.

    • +2

      what company please?

      • Go to the Affinity Alliance website and find an associated company. This was highlighted in a recent deal on OzBargain, but they had to withdraw the offer when they got slammed with signups. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/142887

  • Can you just pick them up from the local RACT store or have to be bought online ? I can't figure out where the order link is for RACT

    • +2

I know I can go into any RACV shop in Victoria and buy them immediately. It may take them a few minutes out the back to activate them, but it is essentially obtained on the spot. $100 cards only I think. I think the other auto clubs are the same.

  • OK so can anyone tell me how I can some how turn these into bunnings gift cards?

    • You're going to find it hard to change from the Woolworths group to Wesfarmers (Coles). However Wish cards are accepted at Masters if you want hardware, and not exclusive to Bunnings.

      • Can you get coles group cards at myers? I know woolworth sells myer gift cards so could go wish -> myer -> coles -> bunnings?

masters doesn't have as many brands as bunnings does.

        • No you can't convert it into a Coles card even through Myer.

I work for ANZ, and the ANZ Staff Club allows us to purchase Wish Gift Cards at 5% off. Combine that with the ING card because they have a paywave machine, you get 9.75% off. I combined it with the Big W sale and got 18.75% off :D

I have been using this deal to 1) enjoy 5% off groceries/petrol and 2) to stock up on store gift cards for stores (JB) that charges surcharge for AMEX cards. What I do is pay for these Wishcards off RACQ with my AMEX card (earn 3x rewards points), go into Woolies and purchase JB Hi-Fi Gift cards (earn Everyday Rewards Points - which goes toward my next free Wish card) and go shop at JB Hi-Fi thumbing my nose at their AMEX surcharge. Not all giftcards at Woolies will earn Everyday Rewards, through trial and error, Caltex and Woolies gift cards wont earn you Everyday Rewards points but JB Hi-Fi will. Hope this helps!

    • Does Woolies ever have an issue with you purchasing a giftcard with another giftcard?

      • Nay, both the manned checkout and the self auto-checkouts have no issues. I bought 5 x $100 JB Hi Fi Giftcards 2 weekends ago (to pay for a laptop) with a Wish card at a manned checkout and the girl didnt even blink.

This was during the 15% of laptop sale at JB.. so I saved an additional 5% on top of the 15% =)

        • Niceee! I'm gonna get in on this too. Cheers for the tip!

        • No worries =) glad to share it

  • RACQ has had this forever - well, years.
