  • Not a bad price for a Haswell tablet / laptop convertible.

Sounds like the keyboard is much like the Touch keyboard on the surface.

  • +2

According to reviews this laptop has a terrible keyboard (it's a flat touch keyboard, not individual keys), which is a real shame because other than the keyboard it seems quite good.

  • +5

Wow, this is 40% off? this should be the standard price, I refuse to believe we have to pay close to 2k for a Y Haswell Processor without a proper keyboard. Sure it has a nice screen res and I believe there is that dodgy Dell "Active" stylus, not sure if an actual digitiser. But seriously such a high price tag is really unjustified, at this price I would say it's a decent deal (compared to one you can get for it), so +1

Just be wary that it doesn't have a tactile keyboard.

    • The keyboard is the only thing breaking the deal. Well that and the ordinarily high price.

    • +1

Seriously, the RRP is a joke. Dell really don't have the cachet to pull of MB Air specs with a better screen for such a massive markup. This price is pretty nice though

  • Any thoughts on the other laptops in the sale? There are a few at 30% off…

    • Nothing else is in the same "market"

If portability isn't an issue for you, then there's plenty of options in the 14-15" range for under $700 that would compete quite well with the Dell laptops on sale.

  • What a shame it gets such bad reviews over the keyboard, and there does seem to be some quality issues too.

A good keyboard and I'd be finally tempted to upgrade from my latitude E4000 which has travelled tens of thousands of KMs with me on holiday for the last 5 years.

The wait continues for an upgrade to tempt me enough to get the credit card out.

  • i thought it would be a good price until i read the specs. for the price i would go for mac air.

  • I've been thinking about getting a desktop replacement, something fairly powerful to replace my ageing E8400 desktop rig and to be used with a dock (important as it'll spend 95% of its time at a desk). The M6800 and M3800 look OK but are still expensive even with the 30% off. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Can't seem to find the deals now that I'm on my work computer, but they were about $1800 for the above mentioned two laptops. Now the M3800 is starting at $3300 and M6800 at an eye watering $3800! (Do Dell track where you're logging in from, or did I miss part of the sale?)
