  • Back to USD $8.99?

    • You thought too slowly. :)

This is a well-known psychology book by the way.

  • This title is not currently available for purchase

    • Shows up as $2.99 for me. I have a US Kindle account, if that makes a difference.

  • Bought mine at $5; excellent book.

  • Just checked. It works for me. I have US address as my default address (not sure if this is the issue).

  • Excellent read if you're into psychology and human irrationality.Surprisingly he won a nobel prize in economics.

@JV, here is an extract of his work, "The Linda problem":

Participants in the experiment were told about an imaginary young woman named Linda, who is single, outspoken and very bright, and who, as a student, was deeply concerned with issues of discrimination and social justice. The participants were then asked which was more probable: (1) Linda is a bank teller. Or (2) Linda is a bank teller and is active in the feminist movement. The overwhelming response was that (2) was more probable; in other words, that given the background information furnished, “feminist bank teller” was more likely than “bank teller.” This is, of course, a blatant violation of the laws of probability. (Every feminist bank teller is a bank teller; adding a detail can only lower the probability.) Yet even among students in Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, who had extensive training in probability, 85 percent flunked the Linda problem. One student, informed that she had committed an elementary logical blunder, responded, “I thought you just asked for my opinion.”

Decide for youself if its something you might be interested in or not.

why "surprisingly"? The economic theory of "utility maximisation" was always going to be flawed when applied to the real world. Point in case:

Ha, my wife and me bought our engagement ring from GS, quite lovely people there.
Though we did end up getting a 28k ring, so make your price firm.
edit: btw, there is not much point doing your research, because in the end is your wife who picks the ring. The most important factor: is she happy with it?
I spent large amount of time reading all the spec meaning and picked one I would deemed as best value (E colour, VVS1) but the wife just wanted something bigger.

Extract from forum topic : Where is a good place to buy an engagement ring?

An economics could never fully understand or explain the irrationality of a human being. Hence why he won the nobel prize.

  • Thanks OP, Bought mine at USD 2.99.

  • seems to be $us8.99 now in the Kindle Store.

    • Seb, I just checked again, it's still showing 2.99 to me. You might need to change your address to a US address? I'm not sure, haven't got time to confirm it was the issue for people seeing 8.99
