kobomay21

EDIT: codes below from melmac77 may give better discounts.

I'm still yet to buy a book from Kobo, but I am on their mailing list and earlier in the week got an email in Italian. This morning I got the following:

Reader,
You may have noticed that you received an email from Kobo in Italian this week. We know that this is not the regular language that you receive from us in regards to your email communications.
We're sorry - we messed up. We want to apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Please accept a 20% off coupon on our behalf as a token of appreciation for your understanding.
Use kobomay21 promo code during check out on select eBooks.

I assume the "select eBooks" means "items eligible for promo code" and the code looks too generic to be targeted.

Good work! I love discount books.

If your book reader supports Adobe DRM epubs, then it's easy to purchase books with the Kobo bookstore. A little TOO easy, as sometimes if you click the wrong 'Buy Now' button instead of clicking 'Add to Cart' from the drop-down, it sometimes literally buys the book now, without giving you the option to enter a discount coupon. They seem to have fixed this problem now, but just be aware of it. For this reason, I removed my credit card info from their system and enter it every time now, so it gives me a guaranteed extra step to verify everything is in order.

Kobo book store definitely isn't as refined as the Amazon store, and there are no reviews so you have to do your own research. Also they use Adobe DRM, meaning you have to install Adobe's crap software to download books, which is tedious. Also if you have a Kindle or a book reader with no DRM support it's a little more involved as you have to use an eBook tool called Calibre with an added plugin to remove the DRM copy protection and convert the books to something usable afterwards. But when I have encountered an error such as buying the same book twice by accident, or clicking 'Buy Now' on the wrong book by accident, their customer service were very friendly and refunded me immediately. And you have to love their discount codes!

If you go to the website and then Account settings on the lower right is an option to show Standard checkout select this and not Quick Buy and then you will always get the opportunity to enter the discount code
